What are your thoughts on this

We beg for it to be closed, because it is rude, and leads to rather nasty comments, and to be fair to all, when other threads are closed because of politics or some heated discussions, this one should also be closed.

You are clearly a racist!

So if there is white privilege as you seem to define it then it seems there is also Asian privilege, Black privilege, Latino privilege etc…(e.g. white boys can’t jump so don’t get selected for the basketball team, Asians are good at math and so are selected for engineering roles, all white kids have a silver spoon and a trust fund).

I think most things are circumstantial and the circumstances largely driven by your attitude and behavior.

Question one: no.
Question two: no. Whether or not anyone wants to participate is their business. Anyone is welcome, though.
Question three: I haven’t noticed, but it is not hard for me to make some uncomfortable… If I have something to say, I’m saying it. Some people don’t like that and get offended. I don’t care if you’re black, brown, white, or purple with green spots… I’ll tell you what I think. I’ll talk to @JayK the same way I talk to @Jerzees , and @Zavier_D the same as @BRUCE26. If I disagree, and I tell you, it’s not racism. I am not here for likes…I’m here to learn and help people if I can. Whether or not someone agrees is not a sign of racism. People can and should have different opinions without fear of being labelled a racist, period.

Indeed. Notice how the accusation is ‘racist remarks in some threads’, but none of the threads are identified, and none of the comments are identified.

We have all seen a diverse group at the range, at the firearms stores, buying firearms, holsters, ammunition, and we have talked to all, regardless of race. Comparing holsters, firearms, and ammunition…

And the KEY… NONE of these issues are racial. How is a Firearm racial? How is ammunition racial? How is a holster racial? How is self defense racial?

The key is there is no reason to start any discussion with “I am a '{FILL IN THE BLANK FOR RACE} gun owner.” When we can simply say, ’ I am a gun owner’ and this is what I would like to discuss.

NOTE: Just watched the Kim Klacik video and her speech. She shows the left’s leadership in Baltimore and where it has led… powerfully.

Wait what!!???

You pop on here, asking tough questions (some might say instigating) , and then when you don’t get the response you want you run off?!

Defend you position/argument sir, otherwise what was the point!? Or did you just want to slam white folks tonight?

That sort of seems the equivalent of throwing a grenade and running and a bit cowardly.

Have you noticed there are very few non-whites in the gun community?

No, I haven’t. I live in the deep South in a City that the Mayor of it describes as the 4th Blackest City in the country.

If you have, have you ever wondered if your actions, words or responses could make someone feel uncomfortable?

Over 20% of the residents of my state have CCL. Alabama, btw. When I go to the range I have helped people of every conceivable ethnicity, sexuality, or whatever ism you choose. So again no, surprisingly many of us do not consider a person by their color but by their character.

Let’s take for instance, BLM. Clearly, many black people are pro BLM. Have you ever thought "I am against BLM and outside of what my friends friend said, or what I THINK to be wrong, I’ve never really questioned why I think it’s wrong?

I joined the military at 17.5, I took an oath to defend the Constitution. I would and have put my life on the line to defend their rights.

If you see someone that doesn’t look like you in the gun community, do you befriend that person? You totally don’t have to, but just general questions that I have.

If they are approachable or look like they are struggling, yes I have before and will again.

I guess what I’m saying is I don’t feel very welcomed here. The vibe I get from many of the people here, is that people who look like me are better either silent or in 100% agreement. Which means it’s not a place to discuss guns, it’s more of a jerk fest. Take a look at some of the hostile responses here.

I’m sorry you don’t feel welcome, I feel the opposite. I feel this is an inclusive and great signal to noise ratio forum.

@JayK
It’s starting to get to the counterproductive point. Strong wills and trying times make it all too easy.

Addressing some of the dialog you and I have had, remember it started with a sense of conflict, you had confused me with another poster and once we realized this we actually exchanged ideas respectfully… the things I disagreed with you on (and still do) were simply because I disagreed on the ideals (i.e. Marxism) and that has nothing to do with you or your ethnicity, or mine.

Even in today’s environment not everything is about color, or religion, or nationality… sometimes it’s as simple as the idea(s) themselves. When we reduce them to matters of color, gender, or anything else other than the ideas we do a disservice to ourselve, and in the worst case to society.

And if I can cut to the chase, there’s a whole lot of white people that have never treated anyone less than fair that are tired of being told who or what they are based upon stereotypes. It doesnt look good going in either direction and I believe this is where some of the reactions you are getting come from

He can not defend his position.

His entire intent was to incite. He was not honest. He claimed he had racist remarks in other threads, yet when asked to identify them he refused, and even Dawn asked.

If he wanted to discuss firearms, he did not need to identify himself as a ‘black gun owner’ to instigate a race based discussion.

Firearms (nonracial), Ammunition (nonracial), Holsters (nonracial) self defense (nonracial), Home Security (nonracial), Home Defense (nonracial), state and local laws (nonracial)… notice something about the subjects we cover? Most are NONRACIAL.

@jamesR I would agree with your assessment of his being cowardly.

He simply wants to accuse everyone who is white of being racists, with white privilege and white guilt both of which I do not accept as they are both political constructs.

Also, he can not get what he wants here.

What do you think that means?

Personally, I think there’s one person posting under different aliases just to instigate.

Wait for it…wait for it…

You showed nobody anything. You taught nobody anything. You learned nothing as you are not really here for that at all. Such reckless hate you exhibit to people you do not know. Do us a favor and just talk to people who either agree with you or dont mind being labeled by you. Oh yeah, you did not come close to making us look in a mirror. Dont flatter yourself. Your arguments were way too weak and transparent for that.

You will find little of that here. I am very glad to stop dealing with you too. Peace? Not in the cards for a while I think. For any of us. Especially if this thread is an indication of things to come.

Oh yes, before I conclude, Antifa is pure evil, period. No excuse for what they do to our Republic. And any other group espousing Marxist/Leninist ideas is evil too and will not win any friends in a free America.

Maybe he cannot defend it, maybe he has some great arguments that support his position. Shame we won’t ever know.

I can actually see where he might come to few of the positions he seems to hold (don’t want to assume anything), but would love to discuss the facts and data around them to see if those positions hold or not.

Also, my intent was not to call HIM cowardly just that the behavior of posting and running was (hell he could be 2x recipient of the Bronze Star for all we know).

Again, it seems a shame we will never know.

Hey Jay,

So, I have to say, you seem to be implying everyone here is somehow guilty of the same vulgar comments you read in the past. That’s like my daughter thinking all dogs are evil because one barked at her once. Truth is, there are some really awful people in the world and I LOVE our freedom of speech so they can open their mouth and let us know who the real assholes are that need to be ignored. That is the single best thing to me about the freedom of speech…shows who the idiots are!

Racism is abhorrent and vulgar in every way. It’s understandable how you feel and frankly if I hear or read something inappropriate, I will always call them out and make it clear that does not work with me no matter who says it.

Now, as far as pro-police, absolutely…and I am PRO police! That’s not to say ALL police are perfect…only that I both respect the people willing and wanting to wear the badge and make the world a better and safer place. Consider this, it doesn’t matter where we work, we all know a complete idiot. Someone who embodies everything bad at our work or someone we know. Lazy, puts forth the least effort, takes credit for others work, always screwing with others, or whatever makes them “that” bad employee. Out of my company of maybe 125-150 people, I know of at least 3 who are real pieces of work and who have carved themselves a place as the biggest anal seepage ever. Now consider that there are around 650,000 sworn officers in the USA and if we do the math and use my company as a baseline…that could mean there are around 13,000 anal seepages floating around with a badge give or take some. Just like any job, you’re going to have good employees, and real rejects who should have been fired a LONG time ago. I get that. I accept that there are some real wastes wearing a badge but they are the exception, NOT the rule. It’s for THAT reason I do openly and actively support the other 637,000 sworn officers who range from average to exceptional police officers and don’t let the anal seepage deter them from doing the best they can for their respective communities.

With regards to the racist remarks…well, let me make this very clear to you here and now, EVERY CITIZEN IN THIS COUNTRY IS MY AMERICAN BROTHER OR SISTER. I fought next to every ethnicity, religion, gender, and even sexual orientation and no matter what, we were all stupid enough to join the military together and as such, we were family. Like family, we teased, harassed, called each other names, and even fought with each other…usually ending with the loser buying the next round. So, as far as I’m concerned, I’d wager you won’t get any “racist” remarks from me.

As for the video, it’s horrible, and also represents why I don’t belong to the NRA. Listen, I admit, the NRA fights for our 2nd Amendment rights which I appreciate…but I don’t belong to any group because no group truly represents my interests. I’m not even a good republican…I’m more of a constitutionalist instead. I couldn’t care less if you’re straight, gay, bi or somewhere else entirely…why the hell should only straight people have to endure divorce? Let everyone feel the misery I did! Sorry, still paying for my poor choices and it comes out at times. Watching the video it sits here and makes fun of something that is frankly unsettling. Now, consider if it was some heavily tattoed gang looking person…why shouldn’t that person too also have a right to protect themselves? What if we switch it up to a far left socialist looking like a cross between hipster and deadbeat living in their parents’ basement…shouldn’t they too have a right to protect themselves also? The answer is yes in all cases. Frankly the video strikes on something more troubling than anything else…people being judged by their appearance rather than as another one of our brothers or sisters. To me, you started the conversation off with a bit of a chip on your shoulder…and I understand. So, I’d be happy to engage and argue why I’m pro-police and anti-anal seepage if you’d care…but I do support those who actively chose to try and make our country safer just like I support our military. The question I have for you is, do you blame all police for the actions of a small group? If you blame all police for the actions of a few, how are you any different than the anal seepage judging people by their skin color or whatever method they use?

Lastly, it’s been my experience that most people who come out and accuse others of being racist without knowing anything about them, knowing who the audience even is…tend to be more racist and close minded themselves. I learned this the hard way with a couple roommates I had in the military. They loved calling me derogatory names every chance they got that first week, cracker, redbone, casper, etc. I asked why they don’t ever ask me to hang out and they all laughed and said I wouldn’t understand…so I pointed out to them how utterly hypocritical their thinking was, how they’d feel if I spewed such hateful remarks at them, and how they are right now the only racists I see because they won’t even let me hang out and get to know them and we are supposed to trust our lives with each other in combat? It sunk in and they were some of my best friends then, and now!

I wish you the best brother and let me know if you want to argue about anything…I’m always up to learn someone’s perspective.
