But, that said, signs in general do have weight of law in ME so if posted, it would be a “gun free zone” it looks like at any of those places. If posted.
“No Weapons Allowed” Signs Enforced?
Are “No Weapons Allowed” signs enforced in Maine? If yes, violating the sign would be considered to be a crime. If no, violating the sign would not be considered a criminal offense.
Yes. A person is guilty of criminal trespass if, they enter a location that is clearly posted.
In addition, a person is guilty of criminal possession of a firearm if they possess a firearm in an establishment licensed for on-premises consumption of liquor that is clearly posted to prohibit or restrict the possession of firearms or while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs or a combination of liquor and drugs or with an excessive alcohol level.
Either there was a sign or no one as armed ( unlikely ) or no one with combat experience!
14 - 16 killed in the bar, assuming he was well trained, 10 seconds.
I like to think I’m well trained, but 10 seconds. OODA 8 seconds at best with alcohol, low light and a scrambling, screaming somewhat inebriated targets! I’m not that good! He ambushed a target rich environment!
You would think that if no permits are required to carry guns in Maine that someone (Anyone) would have at least fired back. Just crazy, like cattle I guess.
Not that many people actually carry daily. Even within this community I would wager most do not carry full time. Just the way it is.
A lot of people have that “I live in a safe area” or “this is a small town” or “it won’t happen here” or “I’m not one of those guys”.
Believe me, most licensed carriers don’t carry all the time. I wish they would, but…is what it is.
Plus a place like a bar, I’ll make another wager…most people there are going to consume alcohol and thus will not carry out of both common sense and, in the case of ME, it being illegal to combine the two…sign or no sign
Well, I must be unique! I don’t believe sh/t happens on a schedule or at a particular location! I live in a fairly peaceful area, but it’s a lifestyle for me. 24/7/365 I don’t drink, I don’t go to crowded areas and don’t go out at night. No reason to.
If a shooting went down at my local grocery I would surely take the best action for myself and the person next to me. I’m not stupid, three guys walk into my bank with AK47’s , I’ll chill, be patient and be a great witness! Alive. A single psycho, if I can get a bead on it, and it’s safe, I’ll take the shot! But I better make sure it’s a hit!
I am sorry for the government. Let’s stop putting targets on innocent people and give them a way to defend themselves. Praise God, thank you Lord. I see You , hear You feal You, smell You and taste You. Love You.
There is some personal responsibility and choice in here too.
If a person really thinks (realizes that) their life might be on the line should they disarm to go into a particular business…they can choose to not go into that particular business.
Nobody forced them to go to the bar and drink (shouldn’t carry while drinking), and IF there was a sign and they were NOT drinking…nobody forced them to do that either.
The government actively put targets on innocent civilian lives. We tried our best to prove them wrong, they dug their heels in and are not only trying to expand that logic but they want to disarm a free nation. Once that happens, we are no longer free. There may not be any mass shootings, but there will be mass slaughter by the government! We’ve seen it before!
So again, my prayers for all those losses and a plea to get rid of the current democrat administration! So yes, I’m serious. They are a danger to society! This community has done nothing that’s deserving of the wrath of this administration!
That tells me we have to control the government. Who is to blame for us not controlling the government. (Rhetorical question). Who should be responsible for controlling the government?
Ok maybe I’m just a tinfoil hat wearing loon ,but it seems to me that every time that the obama/chiden administration needs a distraction……presto another mass shooting.could be just a coincidence. I doubt if the members of law enforcement or medical community that allowed this mentality ill guy to walk the streets will be held accountable. But they knew he was a threat!
LEWISTON, Maine (Reuters) - Maine Governor Janet Mills said on Thursday that 18 people were killed and 13 were wounded when a man with a rifle attacked patrons at a bowling alley and a bar in the city of Lewiston the previous night.
The U.S. Army said Card was a sergeant and a petroleum supply specialist in the Army Reserve who had never been deployed in combat since enlisting in 2002.
