Non Trump supporting gun owners

You’re really Fixated on McCain for some reason. I don’t know why unless you are an Arizonan. Lighten things up, it’s politics politicians come and go and in the end game they’re all using us for either Votes or Money for their campaigns.

“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

Well this whole “thread” was supposed to be about Trump - but whatever.
I would agree on this - I consider “Politics” a nasty, dirty business and have mostly avoided it at all costs.
Whatever our differences may be Politically, I do, very much, appreciate your service to and sacrifice for this country.
My wife may have helped patch u up. She was Surgery Nurse at 71st Evac Hospital, Plei Ku. I hear more nurses 7-8, were killed at Plei Ku than anywhere else. She cannot talk about it, at all, w/o breaking down.

Possible Sir! Maybe life was pretty bad for us Grunts then and probably modern day, modern times 50 years later political heads start wars and common people well…you understand the rest. Happy Thanksgiving dear Community Buddy. Stay safe, drive carefully. :+1:

Actually, I was just looking to see if there are others here who are not Trump people, but still gun owners and 2A supporters. After another thread alleged that, the OP couldn’t go to a Trump rally, because they’d have to kill Antifa and left leaning people, because they are scary life threatening everyday… I had to see if there are non Trump supporters here, like me, who might be left leaning, and aren’t attacking or threatening the lives of Trump supporters. Maybe it was hyperbole, but the pretty constant “civil war is coming”, “The left is violent but the right isn’t” “Trump is great, Dems are crazy” “Impeachment is unconstitutional/fake” that is on thread after thread after thread after thread… Isn’t welcoming, or, inviting of discussion, or anything but a silencing echo chamber which, if that’s the intent of this forum, I missed it. But I would be appreciative, to see those who are not Trump supporters like me, but similarly don’t have places to speak up, or, even Trump supporters like some of those above, who don’t delve into dangerous, othering rhetoric and hyperbole.

Left, Liberal, Libertarian, non Conservative/GOP gun owners and 2A supporters are here I believe, and the threads should be open to more than just fear. So please speak up, thank you those who have, but this thread isn’t about Trump, it’s about us.

Defender, first please thank your wife for her service for me. I had an uncle in that area and he would talk a little. It sounded pretty much like hell to me. I was career military and knew a bunch of folks who didn’t care much for McCain’s political work but very much respected his great sacrifices as a Navy officer. Everyone comes from different backgrounds and experiences and they therefore approach situations differently. President Trump didn’t serve so I would never expect him to understand the bond and mutual respect military folks have for each other. Still, I think that despite all the negative press, lies, and false accusations he has had to endure he continues to put Americans first. Hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Yep, that there…not really a fan of Senator McCain and he’s not the deity that the left propped him up to be at the time of his death in order to fuel the McCain Family/Trump Family feud (funny how they forget how they slandered him during his presidential run).

But he was a Naval officer who served honorably and survived the Hanoi Hilton and actually brought order and hope to the POWss there…and that is absolutely heroic and demands respect.

So I can think that Senator McCain was a “RINO” who’s stubbornness kept the Republicans from dismantling HCA (Obama care) and as such was just another selfcentered politician…….

But I think Captain McCain was an outstanding Naval officer who went through hell and came back with his pride and dignity and a few dozen POWs and is the stuff every serviceman/woman should aspire to.

Again - Thanks for your service and sacrifice. And, most dont know It did not end when you got back here/home. How you returning Vets were treated was a Black Mark on this country at that time. Called-out and threatened at returning Airports and much more. Hope your days now are more peaceful and your are recognized for your service and sacrifice.
And Wish you well and peace.
The wife does not dive under the bed now when a loud noise goes off, but she used to
But she can still tell the diff in a Huey and a Sh-t-Hook - by Sound, easy.

Well Thanks Sir,
I really appreciate your well wishes and what your wife did for soldiers during the Vietnam war. It was very tough. I was treated like dog dodo on the shoes at the airport, many were not aware that unlike modern day soldiers there were no unit homecomings as now. People came home individually, usually a Huey would pick you up from wherever you were, you would turn in your gear, leave on your chartered flights and less than 3 days or about 3-3 1/2 days later you would be hugging your mom and petting your family dog. There were in lots of situations no debriefings. All guys and the few women were were like lab rats, and I felt we were a total embarrassment to American politicians and our citizens in general. I felt like that nobody , sorry my wife needed me just now. Anyway I don’t even know your name but I do not talk about that part of my life very often. I was hit by a large fountain drink Coke, Pepsi, something? At the Airport we were instructed to ditch our uniforms, for our own behalf and put on street clothes but the Hippies flower child’s and war protesters could tell by the dark tans and we had to get haircuts before leaving even though there was very little to no discipline. I don’t know, I’m gonna shut up now. Sometimes I talk to much, my grandma has been dead since about 1970ish she always said I should be a lawyer because I don’t ever stop talking. Anyway I’m out of here for today, nice chatting with you Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Weekend.

But - we are going to have to agree to disagree on Trump.

Maybe I’m missing the point of your post here, and perhaps @Dawn can clarify. This forum isn’t opinion-free, or intended to be.

It is intended to be civil, and while that line isn’t perfect, we do at least try pretty hard to rein in bad behavior. If we’re missing something, PM either of us or flag the post.

Primarily it’s intended to be a place where people can learn about firearms and self defense, ask beginner questions if needed, and not worry about being ridiculed for not knowing things.

I’m trying to imagine a forum where politics is discussed without passion or opinions, where nobody ever takes offense and everyone is comfortable with everyone else’s positions… nope, not having any success. I think the best we can offer is civility and recognition of the right to hold any opinions you choose.

The point, which I tried to state, was seek out just as I said. Those who aren’t Trump supporters, or are left, or liberal, libertarian, or even Trump supporters who don’t believe that the left is gonna threaten their life for going to a Trump rally. I didn’t ask for censoring or shutting down anything or discussion, I was asking to open a different one.

Threaten their lives? Probably not with the exception perhaps of the extreme left aka ANTIFA, but it doesn’t help when certain CA Representatives have literally called for public harassment of President Trump’s cabinet (and which as been extended to Trump supporters in general).

Threaten their careers? Absolutely. We just have to look to Hollywood, Youtube, twitter and the “cancel culture” that’s been propagated by what appears to be primarily the left (maybe extreme left also to be fair) and which has spread to the workplace on both sides (employees being terminated for having political ideas and/or making cultural comments counter to the organization’s leadership’s beliefs)

And to reiterate: I’m an issue by issue supporter/non-supporter of the President as I am with all politicians past/present.

Tell me again how civil and fair the left is? I don’t seem to be finding it.

Ken Cuccinelli, acting DHS deputy, forced to leave bar after being assailed by Martin O’Malley

I added this article since it sheds more light on the assault. I find it inexcusable that charges are not filed in these cases. We hear it over and over from the media, “No one is above the law.” I guess that’s just a campaign slogan or something

Cuccinelli fires back at O’Malley, calls behavior ‘sad’ and ‘shocking’

Trump was not my first choice but having lived in AR and though business had connections to Hillary (the most evil person i have ever been around), there was no other choice for me.
I don’t always agree with Trump however I don’t always agree with myself.
The Dems are promoting socialism and said they would do away with 2A and 1A which scares the hell out of me so I will vote for Trump.

The idea that you would support a person rather than their actions is mistaken. You build trust when a person acts reliably. But your support is for the individual action not for the person and whatever they do. You like them because they do certain things.

I agree with everything you said there Ryan except for that last sentence…….I may still not like a person due to persona, etc. despite them taking actions/positions that I like.

I have never liked Donald Trump. That being said I voted for him because the alternative was unacceptable to me. Since his election though; I have become a fan of his policies and his grit to stand against the corruption in DC. I am a Liberal in the same vein of the founding Fathers. One of the most fascinating aspects of America to foreigners has been our peaceful transition of power. Sadly, we have lost that.

Sorry, no joy for you here. I voted for him in 2016 and I will vote for him in 2020. I’m curious though, who would you consider a viable alternative among the Democrat contenders?
