Trump Snubs Gun Rights in Longest Acceptance Speech on Record

When they print comments from these people (anti-gun) you lost me.

Gun-control groups had a similarly strong reaction to the pick.

“Donald Trump’s pick for Vice President has a record of undermining the gun violence prevention movement,” Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action, said in a press release.

“Republicans and Democrats alike are concerned about gun violence in this country, yet Donald Trump and JD Vance have consistently put gun industry profits over the safety of American communities,” Giffords Executive Director Emma Brown said. “We owe it to future generations to keep this pair out of the White House.”

I think gun rights are our own responsibility. Whether we do it by being responsibly armed and encouraging others or financially through 2nd amendment right groups.

After reading your comments, I looked up and read about The Reloader. I don’t think they are anti-gun, and the founder is definitely not anti-gun.

This is just another example of WOKE writing
They (The Reloader) may not be anti-gun(nner)
But anyone who bases their article’s content
on the people they quoted in said article is NOT Pro 2A!
They are Anti Trump/Vance/2A or they choose to write for
sensationalism to get their points across.
“We owe it to future generations to keep this pair out of the White House.”
yet Donald Trump and JD Vance have consistently put gun industry profits over the safety of American communities,”
Giffords Executive Director Emma Brown NUFF SAID!
Everybody has their own agenda and pushes what they see and write to further that agenda.
Just look in the articles header: Trump snubs
Longest Acceptance Speech—two negatives against DJT in one line. Not a good start. very anti-TRUMP.

I find no value in conflating anti Trump with Pro 2A. They are 2 very different topics that some have somehow come to be thought of as one and the same, and many seem to forget that we were fighting for our second amendment rights long before Trump became a household name. Not all libs are anti 2A and not all conservatives pro 2A. That is the beauty of America, it’s diversity of thought and beliefs, and no one group has the corner on a thought or belief, they just think they do and make a lot of noise as if that makes it true.

No wonder I have not yet forgot that story from Vance about his ‘Mamaw’, and how many she had at home. I could be wrong, but in that crowd there, did that one sentence draw the loudest and longest applause from that audience?

In my line of work, I once met a an elderly woman who was going through a crisis, and our team was helping her. She whispered to me, “I got a loaded hand gun in my dresser drawer” at home.

She told me this because she was not going to be able to be at home for a long time or never again, but had no family. By pure luck, her landlord was a county sheriff, a lady herself, whom I ended up taking with. She made sure the lady’s gun would be safeguarded.

And I had the honor of making sure the lady would herself be safeguarded.

I kind of get what you’re saying about generalizations and every individual can be scrutinized to find the limits of how far they’ll go either for or against 2A rights. But at the end of the day, the most ridiculous anti-2A laws are imposed on us by liberals and the only people pushing back are conservatives. I’ve met far too many “pro 2A” libs who will consistently vote for the libs who are causing the biggest problems with insane laws and judges who don’t care about the Constitution. It’s one thing to claim to be a pro-2A liberal. But how many are going to vote for Kamala anyway? And how many “pro 2A” liberals in Congress hide in the corner during discussions about AWBs or other such nonsense because they don’t want to lose support from the party? Look what they do to people like Lieberman, Manchin, or Sinema. If you don’t tow the party line, they take away your money and try to give you the boot in the next election.

When it comes to Harris v Trump, it’s a no brainer if you claim to be pro-2A. She is rabidly anti-2A and will likely do more damage as POTUS than any other politician in history with judicial appointments, agency appointments, and executive orders. But I’ll wager that near 100% of those “pro-2A” libs will vote for her anyway. Four years ago, Biden campaigned on people don’t need any firearm other than a shotgun and said he wants a new AWB. And if you believe the election results, he got more lib votes than any other candidate in US history.

On the whole, all the big damage to 2A rights has come from Democrats, largely in Democrat controlled states and cities. And not a single Democrat can be credited with reversing any of it. Usually, they’re like Biden. “I’m pro 2A, but nobody needs an assault rifle for hunting.” Or, “nobody needs more than six bullets in their gun.” On so many aspects of firearms, it usually starts with, “I’m pro-2A, but
” and goes on to include, “nobody needs ____”.

It’s funny few question having a 200 mph motorcycle, a 700 horsepower car, a 6 bedroom house, or 50 pairs of shoes, yet when it comes to firearms it’s suddenly “no one needs that.”
Trump didn’t “snub” the 2a, he simply didn’t mention it. He imo is not a pro 2a president, his red flag comment ignoring due process and his rolling over on bump stocks show that. The Trump Glocks and 1911’s I see have me shaking my head. My wife feels Don Jr. may influence him to be more pro 2a, and no matter what, at least he’s not foaming at the mouth trying to deprive law abiding citizens of their natural rights.

Unfortunately I cannot disagree with anything you’ve said. My opinion however is that it’s both sides that are motivated by political agendas. Most laws are designed it seems to make law abiding citizens jump through hoops and have little to no impact on criminals, BUT on the opposite side, I see no wrong in making people get trained on proper and safe handling, keeping it out of hands of children, and reasonable red flag laws, however there is pushback for even the most logical of safety measures. Your argument is valid, but it’s not the only one.

Where do people get the idea that Trump is pro gun? I think he is a finger in the air wobbler with regard to the 2nd. He has made too many anti gun statements to make me believe he is a stalwart 2nd defender. Endorsement by the NRA? Tell me another dirty joke. So Bob Barr is going to clean up the NRA. Bob has been on the board of the NRA for 25 years. What has he done in 25 years to clean up the NRA? He is like every other politician who has been in office until ossified talking about what he will accomplish if re-elected when he has done nothing but become a multi-millionaire on a congressman’s salary. How does that happen? How did Barry Obama manage to get a mortgage to buy a $12.5 million dollar estate in Newport? He never had anything but political jobs his whole life. His book deal? Don’t make me spill my coffee laughing.

I seems to me we need more pro 2A democrats. Unless the 2A is not really the concern.
Edit- I should have said we need more pro 2A people no matter their race, religion political party, etc

We need less hate and more love.

Can appreciate your post.

If we cannot always receive support from
 say
conservative legislators, then I can see how looking for more broad acceptance or support across the isles and or from independents can be helpful. Inclusive?; As opposed to “putting all of our eggs in one basket”.

Everybody got a grandma, ma, or a young’in to protect.

Food for thought.

I would agree, but it seems to me that the democratic party has been taken over by folks who live in a dream world. Hubert H. Humphrey was as liberal a democrat as they came when he was a senator, yet he was a staunch believer in the 2nd. I would challenge you to name me more than 10 pro 2nd office holders in the present democrat party. Today HHH wouldn’t be a member of the democrat party. He would be too conservative. The DNC would work actively to defeat him in the primaries.

If I could blink my eyes and make that happen I’d do it in a heartbeat. But it’s not really a reality for anyone paying attention to the Democrat Party, as an organization, since about the time Clinton was in the White House. Bill himself was actually more of a moderate compared to the party today. Now we have rioting and violence from the left. Anyone who doesn’t tow the party line is ostracized. I lived in a very liberal part of CA for 25 yrs and I watched the political violence grow stronger and stronger over the years. And what’s the consensus from other liberals in office and in MSM? “What violence? There’s no violence. It’s mostly peaceful protestors.” Not only do they not condemn the violence, but they don’t even acknowledge that it’s a problem. They even defund the police so the violence gets worse. How do you get to “less hate and more love” when the hate isn’t even acknowledged?

The people that support those democrats are not pro 2A. If there were more pro 2A people those democrats would not be in office. We can not control the way people vote but if we encourage them to be pro 2A they will vote for pro 2A candidates and if candidates want to get votes they will be pro 2A.
Some one posted this video it explains it better than I can.

I feel you. My only answer I can give is to Acknowledge the hate, hate the hate and love the love. Hate is a negative emotion. If we hate hate is like multiplying two negatives, which is a positive. One has to understand how math works to get this explanation. it is just common sense to me. I think everyone hates hate and if people hate hate, they won’t hate.
