My first gun is an M&P 9Shield. I hear a lot of this gun after I bought it in negative like ways. It just depends on the person and their style. I personally learned to like my gun as it is very reliable when it comes to defense. It’s also fun to use out in the range and you learn to adapt to it. I would also consider the size of your hands, as grip is very important. My gun is compact with a 3.1 barrel and the bottom of the magazine is connected to the grip.

My first pair of underwear were Whittie tighties then I got into boxers for a short while. I wore G-string as a stripper Now I wear Hanes.
In otherwards, have you shot the Conik? That is important, you might not like it!
Did you like it?
Are you comfortable with it?
If you said yes to all three questions then yeah, get them both!

Choose what your heart and soul tell you :slightly_smiling_face:
If you stay within Canik, go with METE, as a newer version of TP9.
It’s built off TP series and received additions missed on TP9 - especially optic cut.

Other tip? Buy 2011… :joy:
no, just kidding…

jgVII,
Welcome to the fold Brother, My advice (and you are welcome to steal it as I stole it from Brother 's Enzo, Caracal, William…etc etc so on and so forth is…
Go to your Range and try them out first before purchasing your first of Sixty second Firearm. Magazine/Website/U-tub Vid’s are great but hands on experience nail’s others ‘Opinion’s’
(maybe even try Ball Ammo and good Self D ammo? See if your test gun accepts different ammo?)
You’ll know when you know Bruh.

Juan63, Welcome to the Fold also Brother, The M&P’s are a Favorite of mine also.
The MP9 (5" was my Duty Weapon for years). I like the front sight on your weapon, NICE!

Read…but shoot them as rentals before you buy. I picked a few of my firsts from reading and then hated them.

I first fired a Canik when they started being imported and a few of my students showed up with them. I was immediately impressed. Enough that when my son called me from a gun show to ask if he should buy one for himself I gave him the :+1:t2:.

Years later my initial impression has not changed.

Good for you. I bought my first firearm much later in life and 10 years after my state made it legal to carry.

I’m not familiar with the Canik brand. But if it’s a semiautomatic anywhere within .22 to 9mm, then I guess I have that in common with you.

I still consider myself a newbie. Guess we each have had different experiences and have knowledge in different areas of “firearm safety”.

Most humbly speaking, always know what’s in the chamber, and check it regularly before you handle it.

I just got Kimber micro 9mm. It is awesome. It’s a 2 tone and is a great one for concealed carry and at the range it performs great. I’m 81and have several pistols butthis will be my favorite.

I owned the TP9SFX when it first came out, they came with the Vortex Viper.
Nice pistol, very light for its size, and nice trigger.
Another option, believe it or not, is the Stoeger STR-9. As reliable as a Glock at half the price.
Otherwise listen really carefully to @Jerzees, he will save you time, a drawer full of holsters, and money in the long run.:grinning:

Summary

Ware what you say that is perilously close to Heresy.

John Browning, the First of His Name, labored and created the 1911 chambered in .45 all firearms before the 1911 .45, the one true ruler of all firearms before and all firearms since. Rested on the 7th day.

We will not talk about 1911 and 2011 pistols here… unless Canik makes one… :joy:

The best handgun is the one you want to buy… so if @jgVil wants Canik… let’s make him happy

I’ve got some experience and my own opinions about those pistols, so here you have few points:

  1. Canik is based on Walter PPQ… some says it’s better, some says it’s not. I will go with Walther PDP (as a next generation of PPQ), even it’s more expensive. It’s just smother and nicer shooter. And… it’s German
  2. Another “family member” is H&K VP9… PPQ’s brother from another German factory. Better than PDP? Nope, but better than Canik… :upside_down_face:
  3. And we have Canik. TP9 series and METE series… if you want to stay within these two, as already posted - METE seems to be better option, being just renewed version of TP9.

These above do not save your money… but your time and disappointment are valuable.
So… good luck… and have fun with your METE SFT… (I’m wondering if I’m wrong here :joy:)
