Which one would would you go with?

Okay, so I am perplexed on which firearm to purchase next. Here are my six choices/thoughts.

  1. Sig X-macro
  2. HK VP9
  3. CZ P10C
  4. Walther Walther PDP Pro SD
  5. FN Reflex MRD
  6. Shadow Systems XR920

Please let me know which one you think I should go with.

Thanks

What firearms do you have now?

What do you want to do with this firearm?

I don’t like sig pistols I’d cross that one right off. I don’t think FN has enough support out there in terms of proving they’ll stick with the same gun long enough, parts, sights, holsters, mags, etc, to want to rely on it. Similar for CZ. And probably also Walther, though the PDP is basically a PPQ and they’ve been around awhile. HK has stuck with the VP9 for awhile too.

None have the support of widespread professional use so I guess that is hard to use against any of them as it’s not really a pro for any of them.

I own or have owned multiple of those, so just going on what I’d rather have of those, and what I’ve kept vs not…

VP9

I have a Sig P365XL, S & W mp 2.0, Hellcatpro, Springfield XD-M Elite, BRC Buffalo Rifle Company, Ruger 38 Special, a Lucern 32 ACP, 45 Colt black powder western gun, Kel-Tek 22 Magnum, Sig Sauer 22 LR and four more 22LR hand guns that are old and dont use.

I was thinking of changing my CCW, from my P365XL.

Are you up for daily concealing a full size pistol?

A 365XL to some of these guns, like a VP9, is a significant concealment difference. I love my VP9’s but just saying, this is a pretty big impact

Stick with the H & K, Walther, and FN - but shop HARD for them, and don’t fall in love with just one - like you shop for a car, get a hands-on experience with each model. And, like a car, buying any gun is a highly personal situation. Look for videos from GBGuns or others, for tabletop reviews, field-stripping, and shooting impressions. Some will also comment on problems with a particular model - when I was musing over the SA “XD”, a video reviewer revealed that the pistol’s ridiculous grip-safety blocked the slide - you couldn’t pull it open or rack it unless you held it “just right”! This is a 20-year-old design needing a positive facelift. AMEN-

Yes, it is for concealment. I actually love my P365XL, with extended mags. 15+1…was thinking of changing it. Looks like I will stay with it. Maybe, I’ll just get the 17 round mags.

I will. Im going to test all the other models I listed and see if I should even spend the money or not. I just put that I might get the 17 round mags so I can have 17+1. It would also be much cheaper.

How many rounds have you put through the current Sig EDC gun?

One feature to contemplate is fully-ambidextrous controls to facilitate off-hand shooting, too, along with adjustable grips. My rants - if you’ve read them - have been centered on unnecessary FUNCTIONAL features, not PHYSICAL improvements.

Alot, id have to say over 16k rounds, easy. I have two of the P365XL’s. One is my practice gun and the other my EDC. The everday carry probably 5k. I changed the spring on my practice one, once at over 12k.

I have shot my EDC with both hands. Only of couple of times. I probably need to do it more because I’ve lost some strength in my right hand.

Well then, I was going to suggest that…

But you are already there. That is a lot of familiarity built up. I’d maybe buy a triplicate and/or just buy more spare parts, magazines, and ammo, and keep going

My pics

  1. HK VP9
  2. XR920
  3. PDP-F
Shadow Systems, to me, after a thousand rounds through a DR920 is a great pistol, I liked the barrel so much that I put one in my G5 G19

The Walther PDP and VP9 are kissing cousins. I own a VP9, my sister owns a Walther; they feel very similar to me. 100% reliable. Very shootable (which means you can practice with them, unlike small, snappy guns) I appreciate the cocking ears on the VP 9 with my old man hands.

The Shadow Systems is just a fancy Sig P320 (or a Glock, I forget which). With the modularity of the P320, you can make it into whatever you want, so I’d pass on the Shadow gun.

I’ve thought about that already. I like the HK VP9 SK as well as the Shadow Systems XR920 and PDP.
Then I also love the way the FN CC Edge looks…but $1400 is steep. What a perplexity.

This is true, the VP9 and the PPQ/PDP are very similar. I have both. I still prefer the VP9. However, you can get a PDP “compact” size and the VP9 is only available in the full size which is awesome, or the VP9SK which just doesn’t have the magic of the full size, and is practically as large as most “compacts” despite being a sub that only holds 10 in the flush mag and has a barrel the same length as a Glock 43 (sold my VP9SK’s in disappointment…stick to the full size IMO)

Also the paddle mag release is the bees knees, so, VP9

and yeah those charging ears are great, for everybody

I like them all thats the problem. I like the VP9 SK as well as the XR920, the PDP-F could work as well. I like that the Sig has a 3.7" barrel. Not to small, yet not to big.

Have you looked at the Hellcat Pro?
I like everything about it, size, etc.
