I’m with you @Matthew! If they don’t want me to be able to protect myself, they don’t want my money either.

Thank you for the welcome, I called before coming to the site because I got the notice via fb messenger. She confirmed it was legit and I got excited because I have been looking for a place to talk with others that are likeminded other than the Glock forum I am in.

We’re keeping it pretty quiet as we build it, @Matthew. I’ve been inviting people who are active on our social media pages and who have entered their email on our training broadcast pages. That way we can make sure we’ve got a great foundation before we open the doors to everyone.

I hope you find the conversations enjoyable and educational! Please jump in and comment, ask questions, and post responses! Also, please go ahead and invite your friends and family who are interested in or are already responsibly armed Americans.

Everyday in most situations it’s when we get complacent that we are potentially in danger

Maine guy here also Nathan, it looks like our new legislature is doing everything they can to turn us back into MA.

I carry anytime I leave the house, and often when I’m home. It’s always concealed carry.

I don’t really ever understand why someone would open carry, maybe there’s just something I’m not considering here and I’ll gladly admit I’m wrong, but it’s not a deterrent to a criminal at all. It would almost guarantee I would somehow find my way into a fight for either my life, my gun, or the lives of my family. It makes no sense to me at all.

To be honest, it almost seems like carelessly putting yourself in a position that you have no business really being in. An example, guy comes in to rob a store with no intention of shooting anyone, maybe he doesn’t even pull out a gun till he sees yours, too late, he sees your gun, thinks he has to shoot first cause he knows you’ll shoot him. Senario 2, is he takes the money and no one is shot or dies, you never go to court to prove you were in the right, everyone saves money including the USCCA, possibly lives are saved, jail time is avoided etc. Maybe someone can explain why open carry is good for a non cop or security guard. Part of the CCW deterrent is never knowing who may be armed in any given situation.

I was in a pizza place the other day, and saw a woman open carrying in simple pancake holster that had no retention in about the 5 O’clock position. All I had to do was push her right shoulder to the left exposing the gun even more, There’s no way she could have fought me off, or got to her gun before I could have disarmed her. I almost wanted to say something to her, but it’s not really my business. But I think it’s a bad choice.

I go through the exact same thing going from my home state of PA into NJ, which oddly enough is usually to see my brother(who was a certified instructor before some health issues) and my sister in-law and go shoot at the range, in NJ of all places. I’d have him come to PA, but it’s hard for him now, so I go to him so at least he can still get some range time.

In NJ, the gun has to be locked in another place from the ammo, no loaded mags, less than 10 round capacity …etc. So I can’t even carry to the NJ border and then lock them up cause all my mags are over ten rounds. the thing about NJ is they dont give carry permits to anyone…I mean anyone! If you look at the USCCA gun laws page for NJ and see how many permits were issued…its a joke. Hopefully you can get a MA permit, but I’m not sure how strict they are.

I just looked, out of 8.9million people they have issued 1000 permits…it’s 0.01% they are probably all retired cops who are now security for the idiots who make those laws.

@Dave3, curious as to your SO’s reasons for that?

You’re right, Mark. I was rather disappointed in how much the Democrats cleaned house in the last election. Governor Mills at least does not seem too eager to strongly push for more gun control laws in the state at this time. I think she realizes that as long as she doesn’t go after guns or hunting in her first term, she will keep the ā€œFuddsā€ in their camps and deer stands come November 2022, much like what happened last November. If she should get reelected, then her gloves will come off. Of course, if the Dems in our Legislature put an anti-gun bill on her desk (which they can at any time, with the Republicans powerless as the minority party), I doubt that she would veto it. To sum up, I am not comfortable with the current political situation in Augusta.

I’m armed whenever I am wearing pants. And I never leave home without my pants.

I haven’t done that since I was a kid (They call him the streak).

Bonus points if you can name the song writer without looking it up.

@DBrogue that’d be ā€œThe Streakā€ from about 1974…?
(boogity boogity)
but I’m no good with remembering the singers or the writers, so no extra points for me

I totally agree with you on the subject of open carry. I used to attend church where one of the members always open carried…I thanked him one morning, and when he asked me why I thanked him, I told him that if anything went wrong, he’d be the first logical target, and I would have time to get off a good, second shot! He never thought of it that way.
