Not exactly. Just because the business owner does not know you are carrying, you know, and you know the business owner does not want the firearm in his business.
Starbucks is over priced and not very good… but will admit, I have not noticed any sign on the one near me.,… do not go in, but have been past it.
It is interesting that Starbucks corporate policy is no firearms but not a single location that I have been in have any signs as described in Kentucky statutes.
I went into one years ago and it took me quite awhile to figure out how to order a simple black coffee and then the price made me think I bought the whole dang pot. However, since some would boycott Chick-Fil-A over a CEO’s personal opinion then turn about is fair play on a corporate opinion.
I’m not sure I’d do that @David12. Based on things I have heard but, have no personal knowledge, there have been calls for doctors to question patients about gun ownership, with the goal of potentially pursuing mental evaluations. I know doctors who are pro 2A and those against. I personally know one, a good friend, who has enough guns and ammo to arm a small, be it very small, army. I also know one, also a close personal friend, who gave up our friendship because I carried a firearm with me all the time, except in his house.
My point being that I only tell people I am armed on a need to know basis, doctors included.
You just need to remember to tell them to take a pound or two off your weight because you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders!
I don’t carry to a doctors office or any other medical facility, it is locked up in a lock box in my vehicle, in my state there is no statues for carrying in medical facilities, but there are signs that ban firearms.
I don’t jump into an EDC conversation cold. I 1st find out if the Dr is a hunter, etc. In that way I’m aware of their attitude 1st… Not every Dr is anti gun and most of mime are gun owmers and actove shooters…
Yes. It is legal in OR… HOWEVER, I go to a local clinic that receives Federal Funding so possibly may be Federal Property, so having discussed with others this is a big “IF” here. In OR we can carry everywhere except Federal Property or in a courthouse as a general rule.
I carry anywhere it is not expressly forbidden. Recently had an appointment at my cardiologist for an annual EKG. The nurse put the electrode tabs on my chest and then pulled up my pants legs to attach to my ankles. WOW! That’s when she saw my ankle holster. I assured her I had a Weapons Carry License, and she was cool with that. But, when I checked out, the whole office was buzzing about “that guy who’s carrying”! My doc had no problem, so just make sure who you’re dealing with. LMAO!
In my case I go to a local County health Clinic (dont even have a Dr., but a very good Nurse Practitioner). They receive Federal Funding so it is difficult to tell, hence the “Iffy” comment.
I do carry into hospitals etc. At least for now, the OR legislature is sure to neuter or CCW permissions since the dems have a super majority in all houses.
I went to a Pain Dr. last week for a steroid shot in my back. Private practice, but thought I might be separated from my britches so left the firearm in a safe in my truck. When they said to empty my pockets I set a magazine on the table. The Dr and techs eyes just lit up and they thought that was so cool. We talked guns the entire procedure.
If my doctor posts a “bans guns” sign in their location I will follow that guidance. Not all doctors are concerned about this and some are okay with me being armed. Here in MN the rule is don’t carry if the location is posted. However, if you do carry in such a location you can be asked to leave, If you are asked and don’t leave you can be arrested for misdemeanor trespass. The penalty for that is a $25 fine and they can’t take your firearm. So, it is not really a thing in these parts. I just respect my doctors enough to honor their wishes.
Oh, and I won’t carry at a gun show. No need to kick that particular bees nest.
Everything else you stated makes sense to me. The above statement I do not understand. How is that a bee’s nest? I am a member of several rights groups, and we typically OC at events to show people that normal people do own firearms. Most people are not afraid of LE carrying OC, so the same should hold true for law-abiding citizens. To make clear, I am not referring to coming full kit with a rifle on a sling across your torso. I am referring to just a handgun.
I feel that people should not be afraid of a law-abiding citizen carrying a firearm. At a gun show where most people are firearm owners, OC should not be an issue to begin with. If more people saw law-abiding citizens with firearms, it will reduce their anxiety, if they have any. People tend to fear the unknown more more than something familiar. Also, as I am sure you are aware, any firearm in one’s possession at a gun show must be unloaded with no loaded mags on your person.
Lawless carrying? It is lawful to carry at gun shows, as long as it is allowed in that venue. If it is not allowed, then your statement about GFZs applies, but I have never seen a GFZ sign at a gun show.
Every gun show I have ever attended banned guns. Signs posted at every entrance. Of course, as discussed, these signs don’t mean much in MN. Still, even a misdemeanor trespass puts one outside the law.
That gun shows ban guns is more evidence that the “gun show loophole” does not exist.
