Carrying to a doctors office

I believe you are mistaken. It is more likely as I stated, no loaded firearms. Here is a flyer to a gun show in MN. It clearly states buy, sell, trade, which if you could not bring a firearm into the event, you certainly would not be able sell or trade it.

I wonder if that’s for the practical reason that everyone is playing with new gear and it would be possible to get live rounds mixed in.

The signs, even if they hold no legal weight, would be a liability measure.gun o panties have to be careful, we live in a world where people want to sue the manufacturers whenever their product is used in violence (our current president is pushing for this)

In Texas most of the gun shows restricted carry firearms.

All firearms have to be checked at the safety desk with safety locks on them.

I’ve only been to two shows ever, and bought nothing.

Just a note, gun shows are off topic of the OP, maybe Dawn can split this or something?

I have always taken my carry firearms to all of my doctor’s appointments they know I carry and some I taught how to shoot and carry, I carry in my large pack, it has a good buckle to take it off when needed, so it’s never more than a arms reach.

I rigged up a gun safe in the car. It came with a cable, but I figured it would be easier to cut or force out. This setup is difficult to get out and since I figure it would take too much time, I am guessing a thief would give up after a short time.

I do what many here have stated, lock it up when I need to go someplace where I am not really welcome, but you have to do business.

Robert. The photo spoke a 1,000 words. Thanks much! Seeing the rig you made (creative & crafty) gave me some great ideas which I’m already working on; To make my box more secure.

I need a set up like this. I’m not a huge fan of the little cable that came with mine.

Do you know what model safe it is by any chance? My safe is a clam like design with how it closes and I have to pick it up to work it. I’d love something that just stayed under a seat and opened in the front.

@Scoutbob - It is a Bulldog Spring Loaded One Touch Personal Safe.
I think almost any safe that opens in the front would work. I have a couple others that open up and a lid pops up so you need room for the lid to open. This one is just a drawer so it works great under the seat.

You can’t see it in the picture, but there were holes in the case so you could screw it down or something. I put two eye-bolts in it so that they stuck up above the case. Then the case is held against the seat-bar that you see in the picture by the metal straps that are padlocked to hold it tight against the bar. Kind of hard to explain or see in the picture, but it was easy to rig up. Just had to use your imagination a little to get it to fit.

I do have to unlock and remove if I want to put the seat down to haul things, but don’t really do that too often. The wife hates it when I use the car as a pickup truck. Not sure why

About everytime I have been close to a Doc with mine,Its usually a VA center. I lock mine in my trunk. I have been to my dentist though and had my ankle back up on.Thats the amazing thing about us as concealed carriers. We tend to follow rules for most part. But that being said it puts us at a disadvantage. Our right to carry should not be restricted. Or better yet Shall not be infringed

Wow, I am impressed. So much room under your seats! I have very little space under my seats at all. I also keep a small safe in my truck but is cabled as you mentioned. Even at around 2.5 inches tall it barely fits under a seat.

Welcome to the family @MajorJohn and you are blessed to be here.

Not sure if I mentioned it earlier… I will generally carry into a private practice. Where I found I have to be careful, and still not figured out the actual answer, is when I go to my Primary Care Physician. I go to a County Health Clinic, which is no problem, but they receive Federal Funding also. Not been able to figure out if that qualifies them as a “Federal Facility/Building” or not. To be on the safe side I lock my gun up in the gun safe in my car.

Honestly, even using a vehicle gun safe does not make me feel especially comfortable. Fortunately My Dr office is only a couple rooms in size so I can physically see my car from inside the office.

In general I will avoid going anyplace I cant carry. I will even go places posted no weapons knowing if ever challenged I would just be trespassed off the property. In OR it would not be a crime. Hope it never happens. So far so good after 20 years.

Question here. This could apply to all states. my qustion is are all Doc offices off limits. Or do they need the sign “No Firearms”. When I make a trip in to my local VA. I consider it a Federal Facility. They are also clearly marked to that effect . Locked in Vehicle!. My Dentist on the other hand has no signs . Are all non marked automatic no carry?

That’s the thing most CCW holders tend to follow the rules
