Why the "Gun Brand Hate"?

@Nathan is right @Bugleboy, it was probably me
Maybe this post?

If that’s not it let me know and I’ll dig.

I found what I was looking for a bit ago.
Thanks
I’m also checking out that Sig Sauer. It looks like a seriously good candidate too.

I have a new one you can hate and throw things at me over. A Chiappa Rhino (no not RINO). 357 with 3" barrel.
The jury is still out whether I’ll love or hate it. I’ve wanted one since I saw one on a detective drama maybe not long after they first became available. Either way, it looks as cool as day old grits. Finer than frog’s hair. Slicker than a snail trail.

I went by the saddle shop. I knew he had two holsters he’d put aside because he was having to craft around optics and didn’t like the fit. My Rhino slid right in one. It got a snap installed and left the building. Nice hand tooled leather by a great saddle maker. He made my S&W 686 holster too. And triple speed loader carrier. And my belt. And guitar strap.

I’m prior military and former cop I want to get my USCCA badge for it please. As far as guns they all kill some better than others forget the haters get a gun in your budget and you feel comfortable with and train a lot. With it. I don’t care if people don’t like my brand of guns a 1000 dollar gun will kill just like a 250 dollar gun.peroid I don’t care what people say.

If you have the money go ahead and buy a kimber. I’ll take that 1200 dollars and but 3 handguns instead. Also never hurts to pack a revolver back up pistol a revolver will never jam.

@Peter - I’ve had some fancy and expensive guns. They have shot very well and looked great, but just like luxury cars, they lose a LOT of value once shot. If you sell them, you will get a tiny fraction of what they were worth. A big reason that I switched to Glock is that I shoot them well, but they are also the Honda Civic of firearms. They are ā€œnothing fancyā€, but they perform, are extremely reliable, and they hold their value well. The same can be said of SIG, S&W, CZ and so on. You’ll still lose money if you ever sell them, but it won’t be as bad as selling a Wilson Combat 1911. At this point, I am done messing with ā€œhigh endā€ firearms. I want rugged, reliable, and easy on the wallet (relatively speaking).

To a degree I think you have hit on a good point. Most of the top brands preform well form Sig, Glock, S&W and Springfield XD. What happens is our circumstances often determine our choices based on our priority.

If we are on a budget limiting up to o one gun for EDC dependability becomes almost the number one priority and we put other considerations lower on the list of importance. Glock does well when researching a gun for that quality.

When we are in a position to make a choice of a EDC based on caliber, capacity, feel, and looks the major brands are a lot closer together so the competition in our head for what to buy includes far more subjective qualifications.

For me it came down to wants as much as needs. I wanted a ankle gun in .22 mag. Glock wasn’t a consideration. For EDC I wanted a small flat gun that allowed me to get follow up shots on target faster with reasonable penetration so I looked at several guns with good to great dependability reviews. I found one that just felt better than the Glock and was thinner, I am not as slight in the waist as I once was and the Glocks printed with all my shirts unless I was wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Might have been my holster choice.

When I got better at controlling recoil I wanted a 9 mm and once again it came down to how thin the gun was and how it did or didn’t print.

My next gun will more than likely be a .45 and once again the selection will include a Glock in the Process. That being said Sig, S&W and Springfield have some good looking options. I however will be looking at moving to a more gun friendly State so even a compact 1911 could be in the mix.

Much like your Honda analogy there are reasons other cars are so plentiful on the road, even if I drive a Honda.
