Those who mock what others shoot makes me wonder if they can shoot themselves. Whatever works and is comfortable for you, is all you need, regardless if it’s a Taurus or a Glock. To me, it’s a juvenile attitude. Oh, you got a Glock? , Well I got a S&W sheild. My gun is more accurate. No. The gun is as accurate as it’s operator. I see the arguing all of the time on gun forms online. I ignore it all. I would rather shaepen my skills shooting than sharpen my tongue, and play the fool wasting rangetime.
Bingo! There is a difference between “ribbing” and actual brand hate. I dont buy Glocks, because they aren’t as comfortable in my hand. That doesn’t mean I don’t like them. I not an AR guy. I hope everyone that likes AR’s has crates full of them, they just aren’t what I enjoy shooting. I prefer pistol carbines, in a lever action. I like revolvers, yet I carry a semiauto. If a 179 dollar pistol is what someone chooses, and it is a reliable weapon, then I’m just glad they have chosen to be responsible for their own wellbeing.
I usually stick to what I know I can depend on as I know it works for me and learn as much as I can.
A lil off topic but in the same vein as this goes for other aspects of my lifestyle interests. I’ve stuck with Jackson guitars since the 80’s. I’ve seen the trends and would catch hell when I said Les Pauls are cool but I can’t play them or any other set neck guitar. Van Halen went with Kramer guitars so did the Fan Boys not me, then came Paul Reed Smith guitars later, many artists went for them, so did said fan boys, again not me.
They sound great but I use what works for me same with amps I ditched all tube amps years ago and use digital modeling amps by Line 6, I get laughed at and comments about why do you use that garbage. I say like Han Solo, she’s got it where it counts.
As far as cars I prefer Chevy, I love my Suburban and Corvette convertible. Yet my Mustang GT convertible is a different kind of fun. Then my favorite was my modified G35 coupe I gave to my son last year.
Now back on track to firearms, my very first pistol was a Sig P228 then a Glock 22. I was in the “club” with my Sig and my Glock, some called a nice drop piece. It was all about the 1911’s and Beretta guys hating on my Glock, then the .40SW caliber was a whole other ball of wax.
I also went with Mossberg for shotguns and I bought a Norinco MAK90 7.62x39 as that’s all I could afford.
Fast forward to today, I’m blessed I can afford what I want, yet to this day all my Pistols are Glocks in 9mm, 40SW, and .45ACP. I have only purchased Mossberg shotguns, and went AR because AK platforms are ridiculous with CA compliance laws.
Not that I’m a Glock fan boy, when my wife and I went to look for firearms she felt the most comfortable with Glocks so my mindset was that if these being for primarily for defense we should be able to depend on each other to not only be familiar with each other’s firearms.
Now that were at the point of having this covered and I have a bit of unexpected funds that became available I’ve been looking at a few Sig P229s/P226s, HK USP 45 and a few other wishlist goodies.
I look at it like this, if you’ve got nothing but bad things to say ok, you do you, and thank you kindly but I’ll just mind my business and keep what I’ve got as it works for me.
When I was picking up my lower I had shipped to him and bought the Glock 26 I now have, another customer started joking and putting down my Aero as I had it shipped and could have picked it up locally and went full throttle on my interest in the Glock. I said I’m good they work for me and as far as the lower it was actually cheaper than buying locally.
My FFL jumped in and said he’s buying these for self defense, you know me I’m all about 1911s, I’ve got some that are worth more than some peoples cars. But you know what I carry and keep on my night stand is a Glock 19. Hell if I have to use it I’ve got more things to worry about, but you know if they take my $300 Glock and I never get it back vs one of my prized 1911s which would you choose? These Glocks work, they’ll fire just about every time, are the number one selling gun hands down and now how can you argue with that?
The guy laughed and said ok you sold me.
There are some great guns available for sure. I personally haven’t ever shot an HK, or a Sig so I cannot say how they compare to my Glock’s. What I do know is that the Glock design works well for me. I used to be critical of one brand, only because I continually heard negative stories about the brand. I never had any experience with this brand and I eventually spoke with a few people who had nothing but good results with the firearm. I’m glad I evolved from being sooo critical about something I had no experience with.
Hmmm… I don’t think I made being a Star Wars fan a prerequisite of being in the Community, but it’s fun to have so many references! 
I am not sure for most of us there is much of a real gun hate problem. Most just like what they know. I understood the old Colt versus Smith but that was simply brand loyalty. Sure there was some concern when Glock came out because the media said they were undetectable at airport security. But Glocks weren’t undetectable and proved to be good guns.
The next division for gun owners came with the great 1911 replacement with the 9mm Beretta. For those of us that carried the old 1911 in the military it was like someone divorcing a wife that put them through school and gave them children. The Beretta was like a young foreign piece of eye candy stepping in and becoming the new step mother. In my opinion that change broke the mold and opened the game up to just about every manufacturer.
The new war is more of a fan based war. The Beretta was going to be replaced and I think most thought the Glock was going to be the new successor. However Sig pulled the gold ring and Glock lost the government contract. Doesn’t make Sig better it means Sig passed the government specifications.
I like Glocks and I like Sigs. But for a ccw my specifications wanted slimmer than a Glock so something slimmer was more important. Will not keep me from getting a Glock for the night stand or the range.
So funny story my man, I clicked on your profile pic because of the Paladin, and saw 2/82 on the gun. I was in A battery 2/82 from 2007-2010!
Not my gun. I was in Vietnam in 70-71. 5/4 arty mobile 155s. My son was Iraq assigned to Bradley’s. I sent him the picture to show him the old man’s ride while he was there. He also had two tours in Afghanistan.

I know that I already responded one to this question, but after doing some reading over the weekend and talking with a few people about different things, I have come to realize that it is part of a much bigger societal problem. Assertion of self importance. Society has become a place of the “I” or the “me” instead of the “we”. Examples being “I am better than you”, “My stuff is better than yours”, “What I think matter more than what you think”. Having served in the military, the major tool that we were taught (and given) was team thinking. Team thinking is what is going t o have your back when you are in battles and struggles. “Me” thinking gets you killed. Team thinking not only builds brother/sisterhood that gives you a group to fall back on, but helps provide a lot more ideas that may be needed to get you further along (in life). The truth of the matter is that the more tools, of various kinds, that can be brought to the front will help to achieve the goal. And, if everyone is carrying the same tool, what will you do should the obstacle be of a different nature? Society today is not equipped with this kind of thinking. With that said, do I love my Glock? Yes I do BUT I also love my other branded and calibered weapons as well because of the “what if” scenarios. And if I am in that proverbial “battle for my life” and I need someone on my six, what does it matter what they have if they are watching out for me? Get rid of the “me” thinking and start understanding the need for the “We” thinking.
Might check some gun shows if they allow you to bring yours in with you. The ones in TX require no mag empty carry after a safety strap( tie wrap straps). You can then try some to see if they fit and probably get a good price. Just my pittance opinion.
I used to slam HiPoints until someone raved about them. I stopped because I realized that I was just parroting what I had heard. I own 7 pistols, of four different brands. I prefer my three Glock’s, but I haven’t fired any Sigs, or HK’s. Maybe someday. Glock pistols just fit me and have always worked well for me.
And that’s what’s important! So glad you’ve found guns that fit you well! If you’re ever near the headquarters let me know. We can hit the range near by and you can shoot my Sigs. Not saying they’re better (they are better for me), but I’ve found shooting other brands helps me appreciate the things I like about my guns and find other guns to add to my shopping/wish list.
My hubby says he’ll never be mad if I buy a gun without telling him… as long as it’s not a hi point. I’m gonna have to as him why.
As a handgun, the Hi Points work, but are clunky and unwieldy blowbacks. However, the Hi Point carbine, especially in 10mm, is a very interesting concept that I would like to try out some day.
My first 5 years I carried a '68 vintage 4" bbl Colt Python cross carry, right hand draw, two 5 Star Firearms speed loaders in JOX pouches. Anyone who carries a wheelgun knows that there is just a different mindset when you strap it on. Love shooting the gun. 357 is a bit pricey for training but it was well worth it to me.
I hit my late 50’s last year and the Python became a burden on my body adding to the abuse Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children heaped on me. And Python prices are going thru the roof so she went in the safe.
The replacement was the Sig 320 Compact. After 22 years with the 1911 and the M9, that trigger nipple on the Glock and the hinges on the others just wasn’t something that I was comfortable with. The Sig is a great fit for me. The trigger (Not the action) also closely feels like the trigger on my X95 Tavor.
Do I like Glocks? Nope. Do I sometimes git a squinty eye when Glocksters claim it is the “BEST GUN IN THE WORLD!!” Yup. Do I hate Glocks? Nope. Just treat them like I do the bread pudding that my wife brings home. I’d just as soon not have anything to do with them as it is not to my taste.
My favorite long gun is my X95. The M16A1/A2 and I always had a good relationship, But it was like the girl that you would date and hang around with but you would never consider putting a ring on her finger. When I tried the X95? Yup. That one became the keeper.
Are they pricey? Yup. Do most shooters malign bullpups? Yup. But it is the gun for me at 5’7" and a short torso. She just fits like I need it to fit. A few accessories added and she is close to being perfect.
My point on this is, do not take it personal if another shooter chooses a gun that you wouldn’t consider unless it came with lifetime free ammo and range time.

I’m with you on the Glocks and Sigs. I carry the 320 Subcompact, but I’m really debating getting the new 320 XCompact.
