Back in 2016 I had decided that I should be carrying. I did the tube videos and the hotness at the time was a Taurus firearm that everyone was raving about. Millennium PT111 G2. Golly, basically a Glock patterned firearm distinctly different than a Glock somewhat.
Dumb me having never owned or even handled or discharged a handgun before bit.
I would at this point like to thank all those people who took the time to actually shoot and give a review on the Taurus PT111 G2. What a wonderful firearm!
So much so that after proving that Taurus with, you all know by now, “a spotty reputation in the past” had finally got their $hit together and produced a reliable semiautomatic firearm that actually went BANG each and every time you pulled the trigger!
Yep that and if it didn’t go bang just pull the trigger again and your crap ammunition would probably go bang at that point. Buy some name brand ammo dude!
At 6,500? rounds I figured that I had better hedge my bets and bought a SECOND “questionable reputation” TAURUS MILLENIUM PT111G2. It ran just as sweet as the first.
2000 rounds later the Taurus G3C debuted. PT111G2 but more better? Sign me up! YUP- It’s more better and EXACTLY THE SAME as the Millenium but with a more flatter trigger.
I have carried a lowly TAURUS 1st generation "G’ series pistol for nearly 10 years now exclusively. Every time when called upon, they have gone BANG.
I NEVER paid more than $250 for any of these 3 TAURUS pistols with the knowledge that if I or my wife ever had to pick one up to defend ourselves they will answer our needs.
I have a G2C loaded with a Strikeman Laser training cartridge in my safe for dry fire training. I love the, I’m gonna call it “keep shooting without racking” feature. It’s technically not mine because the owner has asked me to keep it safe for about 2 years now.
Are there any other striker fire brands that do this?
My first handgun was a Taurus. Found it more affordable at the time.
Kept it for about a year, used it for my CCL carry permit test. I was lucky to afford a one level up since, so ended up selling it - opted for a different brand. But always thought my Taurus was good quality, had a good grip and looked good.
Nothing wrong with owning a Taurus. Very good pedigree with S&W back in the day, and the purchase of the Beretta plant in Brazil got them started in the semi-auto competition. Every weapons manufacturer has had bad runs of certain models, but they are always identified, fixed, and back into production.
Back in the mid 80’s my ex-wife and I purchased a Taurus PT58 chambered in .380 that looks almost like the Beretta 84 manufactured a few years prior. She still has that weapon.
Taurus’s first semi auto pistol, the PT99, is a direct clone of the Beretta M9. The only thing they changed after buying the plant was the wording on the side of the pistol. I had an M9, my buddy had a PT99 and we could swap parts back and forth. Both weapons operated flawlessly. The second-year production model PT99 was different.
