Yes, I feel naked there in the P.O likewise…I have to unload and field strip my gun when I don’t have my gun safe in my truck (i.e. I’m in my wife’s van). So the mag and the frame stay and the barrel and slide go in my pocket. Then, I’m not carrying and won’t get shot by my own gun if someone breaks in while I’m inside
Maybe that “naked” feeling when you leave your CC behind, is like that feeling you get standing at the edge of a cliff. That uneasy feeling that says " this may not be so good" is there to good reason, It can help keep you alive!
Just a thought.
Yes I generally feel naked when my CCW isn’t on me. Of course that’s probably because the only time I don’t have it on me is when I am naked. Just saying.
It’s been a long long time since I have felt that way since I’m always carrying or its within arms reach when I’m sleeping.
Yes I only have been carrying for a few months
Welcome to the Family ScoobyDude!
Justin47 my Husband carries in churvh but has permisssion. With all these church shootings going on we must remain safe.
My father-in-law is the preacher at the church. So technically I do have permission, my wife just don’t like it. In this day and age there is nowhere that’s safe and I keep trying to remind my wife of that every time something tragic happens on the news.
Yes!
I carry appendix style so it feels so awkward when I don’t have it on me when I’m in an area or place that doesn’t allow firearms, like in a school.
It was funny, yesterday I was walking out the door. Does anyone here do the touch for wallet, touch for keys, and for what ever else you normally carrie on you. I did that and I realized that just in a few months of carrying. I do the gun touch, and it wasn’t there. I was like stop the presses we can’t leave yet. I started walking to my bedroom saying under my breath “I’m naked, how can I leave the house naked.” My daughter without missing a beat said “Ummmm daddy, you’re not naked. Maybe you should go look in the mirror.”
It’s amazing on how fast you get used to something.
I am still waiting for my permit to come in. I carry in the house all the time. I also have it in the car whenever I go some place. Honestly…I was thinking the very same thing. How quickly you go from not having one or thinking about it…to oh my god I am naked now without it.
I do for sure!
I’m getting worse. Wife and I for past 10 years have gone to the same hotel, reserved the same room, take the same little delicacies and do our New Years celebration. This hotel is special in that if you know the right 5 rooms to ask for they have huge in room hot tubs so we have always gotten one with the hot tub on the highest floor with best view.
This year I packed an AR- 15 I was feeling so uncomfortable.
I always carry except for federal buildings and police stations. I have a Sneaky Pete holster for my Sig 355 and I am getting a second 365 in case my first one needs service.
I do. My handgun is part of my attire. If I don’t have it on I know something is missing for sure. When carrying concealment is an art form. As always it changes with the weather and clothing. Someone once told me years ago to carry the largest caliber I am able to conceal. Carry on! Carry smart! my friend Happy New Year
Glad I’m not the only one!
Unfortunately there are lots of places I have to go where carrying is not an option. Wouldn’t say I feel naked though. More like walking out the door into a rainstorm without my rain jacket on. But I always have my wits and other allowed protection tools on hand so there is a decent chance I won’t die of hyperthermia. What really feels weird to me is those rare occasions where I carry without a round in the chamber. That feels like walking around with my pants zipper down. I’m constantly thinking how I am going to have to zip it up without anyone noticing.
Could you elaborate on why/where carrying without a round in the chamber is desirable or necessary (for someone who is normally comfortable carrying in Condition 1)? I would feel naked carrying that way as well.
Thanks
When trying out a new holster or carry position I will often carry for a few days without a round in the chamber until I am sure that there are no issues with the unfamiliar setup. The other situation is if I am going somewhere with my young son where I am not planning on but think there might be a chance that we end up playing in a running, tumbling, tustling manor. Especially if other kids who have not been educated on firearm safety might be around. I carry in a manor that makes losing loosing control very unlikely in these situations but prefer extra caution when children are around.
Thanks!
I imagine just knowing you have an extra minute to get your firearm back under control in that situation is comforting. Though I bet you just unleashed a bunch of…comments
