Hello All - Long time member, 1st time posting here. I currently own and train with a Stacatto P which I also use for my HDG. I’ve always had a preference for the 1911/2011 platform and since purchasing the Stacatto, i’ve decided to swap out my EDC for either a Stacatto CS or the C2. I’ve researched, read, watched videos, asked other owners, shopped, handles and done just about everything I can to decide which is the best model to add to my EDC kit however I remain undecided between the two models.
The C2 seems to make sense as it is still a supported platform and uses the same mags as my P. Also it’s only a smidge larger than the CS which was originally my first choice and makes it a solid option for EDC.
I’m not a fan of the new HD platform so I’ve ruled those models out. I’m also working to slim down the collection overall and reduce it to very select, desirable, and trustworthy makes and models across the board.
Any suggestions and / or input from others would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and thanks in advance!
First post should go to “Introduction Thread” - @Karacal will direct you there soon…
Regarding Staccato…
Definitely you will have to decide by yourself which one works for your application. There are so many personal factors which you must think of - body type, shape, belly size, carry position.
Staccato platform is great, especially “pre-HD” models, which I love.
My input about both models:
Staccato C2 (vs Staccato CS)
a little longer grip that works better for me, still great concealment
good support for aluminum grip replacement (these grips are way better than original polymer)
be careful with magazines from Staccato P - these are 0.8 inch longer and you need a proper baseplate to avoid ejector damage.
Staccato CS (vs Staccato C2)
shorter grip, which conceals better
slimmer grip, which conceals better
shorter barrel, which conceals better
redesigned barrel which provides better oil distribution
full size slide rails on the frame (also helps with better oil distribution)
proprietary magazines, not compatible with “Pre-2024” models
Which one is better? Hard to say. Both shoot almost the same. Differences are in details. Because of grip thickness - I prefer CS, because of grip length - I prefer C2. C2 is a little bit heavier - that is a pros for me.
I also prefer C2 because of external extractor, which is easy to remove for detailed maintenance (no needs to remove optics).
That is a different story…
However C can be also considered for conceal carry, due to its slimmer grip.
If @Todd173 sees C2 “a smidge larger” than the CS, then C is the same as C2.
I have both the C2 and HD C3.6. To carry, it’s the C3.6 because of it’s size. For just plain fun shooting it’s the C2.
My worry with both guns to carry is if you ever have, heaven forbid, the need to use it to defend yourself, it’s in LE’s hands for the duration. Quite an expensive gun to loose.
Thx @Craig196 appreciate the insight. Now that I am officially down the “rabbit hole” with 2011’s the price of losing a Stacatto seems affordable. God forbid, but with the backing of USCCA I worry less about the loss and more about the effectiveness when I need it.
