What to call them, and why

I’ve always referred to firearms as firearms.

I’ve never thought about it. After twenty plus years in the Army, the term “Weapon” was ingrained, and I still use that term. In Basic Training if you called your rifle a “Gun” the drill instructors had a risque way of reminding you of the difference between a “Gun” and a “Weapon” The term
Weapon to me denotes a lethal tool and is a good reminder of what we’re dealing with. To me, they will always be weapons. “Firearm” could be an acceptable alternative, but I’m to old to change too much.

If I am feeling frisky I will call a pistol a “heater, gat, roscoe, strap, piece”. I like Roscoe because it remind me of those 1940s radio crime shows I hear on XM radio.

Per Axel Foley, a banana in a tailpipe is a weapon.

Per the Chief: “How could you not notice a man putting a banana in your tailpipe?”
Great movie.

I am a weapon. My skills and knowledge make it so. How I choose to utilize myself is my choice. I first choose to be a friend. I offer wisdom from my knowledge. A gun is a tool just like my pen and sometimes the pen is mightier than the sword. Be sure to vote.

I know. Right?

Wasn’t really thinking about it, but I have used that term at times too.
Thanks.

In the instructor’s course for the BSA, using the term Weapon is verbotten. We had to refer to them as Sporting Arms

It apparently changed over the years…

But then, all you hear about today is their ‘wokeness’ and the lawsuits.
