I carry a Kimber Ultra Raptor (.45, 7+1) w/two 8rnd spare mags, loaded with Speer 230g GDHP-SB. 1911s have always been what I’m most accurate with out of the holster, so that’s what I carry. About 5yrs ago, I bought a CZ-75 Compact (9mm, 10+1), wanting more capacity in my EDC. I’ve practiced with it A LOT and I’m proficient, but not as good as with my 1911s, so it remains a range gun.
If CA ever gave me “permission” to buy any handgun I wanted for an EDC, I’d be looking for a 1911 variant in 9mm with a 4" barrel to give me a little more sight radius.

Grips change, depending on my mood!
Fit, feel, extreme accuracy, ( not just me, but others who fire it ) reliability, power, most of all conceal ability. This is so part of my life, there’s an indentation in my hip where it fits so well, I could board an airplane!
7 round mag inserted, one in the pipe and two extra mags on the opposite hip!

my EDC is a Ruger LCR 38 special with laser grips and with 2 reload strips. normally when I am in my wheelchair I carry AIWB. When I am walking I pocket carry with a Desantis pocket holster.

I’m with the G43 crowd. Taran tactical +2 gives 8+1. Easily concealed and as far as I’m concerned based on “odds” 9 rounds is plenty if you’re competent at hitting your target. I play odds. Looking at years of “armed citizen” my conclusion is 6 rounds covers every scenario I’ve ever read for self defense. May have missed one but if you give me 90% that’s good enough for me. Looking for 100%, continue to look at Marvel Studios for answers.

My EDC is Sig P365 9mm, and it’s easily concealed IWB, light weight, compact, and loaded with Sig V-Crown or Federal Hydra Shock 9mm 124 gr Hollow points and use the same ammo for the Sig P320 9mm full size when using OWB. For the range ammo is Federal 9mm FMJ 115 gr. for both pistols. I trust Sig and Federal ammo cause they always go

Glock 27 gen 3 with a G23 magazine loaded with Federal Law Enforcement ammo. The G23 magazine with grip sleeve makes it point so naturally.

Glock 29 sf and Winchester defender 180 grain my Glock shoots great and the ammo opens up to 9 tenths of an inch and in ballistic gell with denim penetrates 14 inches

My EDC depends on the season.
My cold weather EDC is a CZ P-07. The ergonomics of the pistol, plus its ability to happily take any ammo without complaining won me over.
In warmer weather my EDC is an S&W 642, which I have discussed before. Light and easy to conceal, but your hand will complain after shooting a few boxes of bullets at the range.
I plan on phasing a Glock 43 into the rotation this summer. They are pleasant to shoot, plus it is the only micro 9mm I have found that I can grip comfortably.

Don’t take this wrong, but that sounds like a lot to hang on to! You must have very strong hands. 
I had to look that one up:

As far as the grip on a G43, I put a Hogue slip on that improved the grip feel without adding too much to your width.
