I’ll be spending a week in New Orleans with my wife soon. I will be taking the interstate from Chicago to New Orleans. I have valid CCLs from Illinois (resident), Florida and Arizona. The reciprocity app says “with restrictions.” Are these the normal restrictions (like duty to inform) or am I missing something?
We’ve have taken that same drive, but pre “Katrina”, I think it was early April, during their yearly Jazz Fest. Oh the food, we were so blessed – we gave some of our meals to the homeless there.
Back then, I never carried “Jake from Statefarm”.
Today I’ve similar permits as you, I noticed that each of your “permits” are generally honored in each state in your path.
I don’t know their more local laws, such as if “bars (or areas of restaurants serving alcohol)”, are legal or not to “carry”.
Back then - in the French Quarter, we saw some unhappy/angry folks, but kept our distance to avoid conflict. Aside from that it was very enjoyable.
Of note, while driving - we never saw so much dense fog and deer just standing in the middle of the road that trip, especially at night.
That first hot meal there when you arrive can ‘knock your socks off’. The first JukeBox you encounter, please select “Born On The Bayou”, by CCR. I promise you, it will set your crew’s chill vibe the whole visit.
If you are pulled over, you must inform the officer before he initiates any conversation. Reply upon arrival “I have a CWP and I have a gun; I will leave my hands on the steering wheel.” Then follow his instructions.
