It’s summer (well, almost)! But it IS time to start thinking about a road trip to see this great country of ours!
I’m hoping to go back to Tennesse this year (my son recently moved back there). I’ll have to travel through the great state of Illinois for a little bit and, thanks to our reciprocity map, I know what I need to do to carry legally.
What states will you possibly go through this summer? Will you be able to carry?
The only road trip I have “issues” with is my trip to Michigan but we found a great way to avoid Illinois.
However I use the reciprocity map all the time when traveling to other states. So I can limit my mistakes when carrying in unfamiliar states. I have also found that state patrol offices seem to be very informative when asking questions to clarify confusion.
Arkansas, or possibly Florida. I can carry in Arkansas, pretty sure I can carry in Mississippi and Florida. Will check before I plan a trip to the beach.
Interestingly enough, the Covid thing made me put off my trip to Minneapolis this year. It would have been right about this time, too. I also wanted to visit my cousins in L.A… I doubt either will happen now.
Well if these danged Covid 19 quarantines will let up enough for distance travel I’ma planning to head to Missouri to get me a couple of puppers. So part of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri.
Me and Magen went to Broken Bow, OK [It was my first time going further than Texas and Arkansas].
I wanted to share THREE things:
(1) When your girlfriend says there is a spare tire and jack in car, you better check.
(2) Recommend being a AAA member too
(3) Use USCCA Reciprocity Map
We know we want to take a trip. We’ll likely stay within the FL/GA/SC region. My FL CWL allows me to carry in both the other states. WI was originally on the list for this summer, and my wife wanted to visit MN this spring, but I don’t think we’ll be willing to go that far.
The only place I’m likely to travel to this summer is Northern Ohio to visit @Gunner502 after he moves to his new house. I can carry there but have a duty to inform.
Other than a possible trip to kentucky for some shooting I’ve been hoping to get out and have a little vacation. Maybe take my trail bike camping down the Appalachian trail, but who knows. Either way, I will be carrying in every state I legally can.
Do you know if that app you can download will tell you about things like the duty to inform? I’m talking about the app from USCCA that includes the reciprocity map and so on.
