Unsure but isn’t that value a felony?

Anything over a thousand dollars worth is!

Those stores will be closing soon, then they will say the locations are a retail desert.

Grand theft is theft of property with a value of $950 or more, which is a felony under California law, and punishable by a term of imprisonment in state prison for 16 months, two years, or three years, depending on the situation. (Cal. Pen. Code, § § 487, 666.)

No matter how much people talk about how brazen these robberies are. No matter how much people talk about the stores closing due to these robberies. It’s all just talk and nothing more. Let’s face it this is the new normal and the most that will be done is taking pictures to post on trash media for all to enjoy.

The employee might as well helped them fill the trash bags!
Now she says she is traumatized by the robbery and doesn’t think she can walk into an Ulta from now on?
What’s next, she has Stockholm syndrome?

They will want workers compensation because of the trauma

Before you mock the employee, what kind of training do you think they got from Corporate with respect to theft, looting, violent assault? Can’t blame them for being “traumatized” and retaining legal counsel against the store.

Because you can’t sue who is actually responsible for the out-of-control crime wave that has descended upon those people - the Governor and the rest of the legislature that has passed laws allowing this to occur.

Yep. Retailers who have been suffering for a long time from the rise in crime, what do they do? They pass their losses onto the consumer, and they bully and fire employees who dare to defend themselves from harm, forget goods. I am not going to judge consumers and employees for suing the corporation for damage to their health or dignity.
If you are a 7/11 or a Target, or a Walmart - you are responsible for your property to remain safe, no wet floors and no criminals.

Hard to fault the employees for being traumatized when they are forced to be defenseless in high risk situations. Also hard to fault the retailers too given the political environment and the fact they would likely face considerable losses in law suits if their employees did defend themselves.

While not allowing employees to photograph the criminals or their cars may seem stupid on the surface it also protects the employees from becoming targets of the criminals for trying to stop or catch them after the fact.

These stores should all have security cameras covering the interior and exterior so the LEOs can catch the criminals. Then the justice system needs to stop slapping them lightly on the wrist or just letting them walk.
