Leftists tend to hate anything that has an image of being strong, good and successful. They hate America, they hate Western civilization, they hate white males, they hate rationality. The reasons that leftists give for hating the West, etc. clearly do not correspond with their real motives. They SAY they hate the West because it is warlike, imperialistic, sexist, ethnocentric and so forth, but where these same faults appear in socialist countries or in primitive cultures, the leftist finds excuses for them, or at best he GRUDGINGLY admits that they exist; whereas he ENTHUSIASTICALLY points out (and often greatly exaggerates) these faults where they appear in Western civilization. Thus it is clear that these faults are not the leftist’s real motive for hating America and the West. He hates America and the West because they are strong and successful.

I’ve had this discussion several times with my gun-loathing in-laws, when they begin their prattle about guns being too easy to obtain. None of them has ever gone through the background check process, or the conceal-carry process, as I have. Even more incredible is the fact they don’t believe me when I describe the process.
The School of Hard Knocks is a good one, one of the best I’ve ever attended. To those puerile individuals who suddenly want to embrace the Second Amendment after years of suckling on the teat of government … class is in session! Have fun navigating the “lax” gun laws!
But there ARE leftists moving towards the middle, i personally know a handful that i know i can trust with my 6, so you sir are wrong. We should welcome them and the others that are just now thinking about moving at least towards the middle as well, not shove them back to the left.
