I also think we are very far away from such things as marshall law and gun confiscation. Yes this latest mass shooting will galvanize anti-gun people into calling for yet more useless gun control measures, but pro-gun people will always fight this.
Remember, more than half of all US states have constitutional carry now, versus almost none back when I was a young man, back in the '90s. Momentum is on our side - while many call for more gun control, others will see how useless the police and other authorities were in stopping this guy (and still are, considering heâs still on the run as of this post!) and, understanding theyâre mostly on their own, will themselves buy guns (including the âdreadedâ ARs) and learn to use them to protect themselves.

Robert Card, the suspected gunman in Wednesdayâs mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, has been found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The mass shooting â which occurred in two separate locations, a bowling alley and restaurant â left at least 18 dead and 13 injured, local authorities confirmed. The incident led local and federal law enforcement on a multi-day statewide chase.

When there is a Republican president we blame the democrats for everything they wonât let us do. When there is a democrat president we blame the government. The democrats blame the Republicans and the Republicans blame the Democrats. When we stop blaming and start taking responsibility will things seem normal. Howâs that for critical thinking?
Likely nothing. When your local sheriff or police show up at your door demanding your non-compliant firearms, what are you gonna do, shoot 'em or comply? My guess is that the vast majority will choose to comply rather than resist. Most people are too lazy to vote, given that, what makes you think they will engage in any active resistence?
The experience in Connecticut over the last decade, for example, which banned all sorts of semi-auto firearms (see the description below) did not result in a mass exodus from the state nor armed rebellion. Likewise, people still choose to live in California, NY, NJ, OR, CO, DC, IL, etc and live with their firearms laws, dumb as they may be.
