Non Trump supporting gun owners

Thank you for being kind. What I would like to say, about what the left candidates propose for gun control, is going to maybe sound odd, but I think it will only sound odd, because of how this entire Trump experience, but taken in the context of the Mitch McConnell complicity, but it’s important to note because it started during Obama’s administration.

In a functional coequal branches of our government, I feel absolutely certain, that the promises made from a federal level would not pass. Further, while the pace with which the cases move through the system to SCOTUS makes a snail seem fast, I am also confident that rulings even on a 5-4 liberal court, would land mostly in favor of the second amendment and gun owner, and not the state.

I have faith in the design, which is my faith in the Constitution, balance of powers and more. Sometimes it’s hard to see it in the short term, and I forget that too.

As Kermit said, “it’s not easy being green” whether you’re a liberal at an NRA convention or a Conservative on a college campus.

I admire your “faith” in the system…but whoo, it seems like a bit of a gamble. Especially after Congress passed and the President signed the assault weapons ban of 1994. Granted President Obama didn’t try and replicate it, but I think he was more focused on leaving his mark on health care.

If the Dems win the White House in 2020, I hope you’re right.

I try to stay in the middle and look at both sides. But for a long time, there have been to many in D.C. who has made a full-time job out of a part-time job as written in the Constitution. They are not representing the views of those who elected them and instead only look out for themselves. If that means taking things behind their backs they don’t care. This is just my opinion and just the way I see things. If anything I believe everyone in congress needs to be fired and we start over. If anything I see President Trump as the person who is not a politician and has caused a ruckus in D.C. But everyone needs to be heard and we all need to listen to each other. Whatever happened to being kind? I don’t agree with everything he has done but I do respect the office. If congress would have worked together then maybe this country would be better off. But as long as we have “Loud Mouths” causing trouble nothing will get fixed. Again, just my opinion.

Thanks @Stephen63, well said. I would hope for a coming time when kindness is again the norm, and no one has to say, that they respect the office, because it’s not a question. Thanks for speaking up, have a wonderful weekend.

I have been a Trump supporter since the beginning, hope I’m allowed. I may not understand the reason for your question? Would someone that is a supporter of the 2nd amendment have a choice? Would anyone support and vote for someone who says they are going to take away your rights? I have always been against communist ideologies. Unfortunately, there is no longer a democrat party. It has been steered, for over 50 years by radical communist ideologs who push a communist agenda. Their ideals are out in the open and very obvious now. In large part because of President Trump. It is an ideology that is deeply woven into our government which has come to light since the last election. There are no more blue collar democrats that worked the docks, warehouses, construction and carried the ideals of America first. No election is about one issue and never has been. That is a catch phrase. Their is a clear choice for voters, American ideals (much more than gun control) or communist ideals. Some times it is that clear and easy.

My opinion on that matter is not relevant. The point is you stated he keeps his promises which he did not. It was all just a lie from the start that his supporters believed.

its quasi judicial but its not a criminal process and therefore im not sure that he has a right to any due process considering the ultimate penalty is removal from office and any future office of public trust… its basically a political remedy.

You don’t even know that the trial is held in the house. The Senate is the jury. Quit watching CNN

Your opinion is revenant. It will guide how you vote. If you support gun control, illegal immigration, and free access to America for the Mexican drug cartels vote Democrat. You’ll get the government you deserve.

You’re absolutely free and welcome, my intent wasn’t to fight, argue, or troll, contrary to what was before. I do have to make one correction. Your allegations about communism, and claim there is no Democrat party, the same hyperbole could be said that the GOP is no longer the conservative party. Property is not all publicly owned, nor is it attempted to be, publicly owned, as a manner of platform. Claims of that and socialism are just, complete hyperbole, to be socialist, the state would have to own all the means of production, which, not only is not the case, but is also not part of the platforms, again.

I appreciate that it’s so simple for you. It’s not so to me.

I agree with you in regards to the “old GOP” no longer existing as they seem content on increasing the size of various Government programs and spending much like the Democrats do. They are not the Conservatives of old that believed in reducing spending and decreasing centralized power from the Federal to the State level.

However in regards to the Democrats, three of the leading contenders (Biden, Warren, Sanders) have either made claims of wanting to or actual efforts towards going towards a socialized medical system which is approximately 20% of our economy. Increased regulations and taxes that the Democratic party consistently imposes while not controlling means of production definitely controls the way business can be conducted and how the rewards for those investments/efforts are paid out.

I think CA is a prime example of that. CA’s regulations not only did NOT create a utopia/paradise for it’s citizens but has taxed them, and more importantly, businesses to the extent that they are leaving the State in record numbers. I work for a fortune 50 company that USED to have one of it’s major business headquarters in CA…in 2016 they relocated it to TX and never looked back. Many other companies have followed, heck even Hollywood has gone to shooting movies in Canada and MS, GA and TN because it cannot afford to do so any longer in the State.

So perhaps not “socialism” in it’s strict dictionary definition, but definitely socialist and communist tendencies in controlling how business operates and how it’s rewarded (through high regulations and high taxes).

A “not Trump supporter” checking in. He’s a bit of a dumpster fire, IMO. But I don’t hate the guy, and as some others have pointed out (in this thread and others), he’s done some good in pointing out issues that no one was really looking at before.

Politically, while I maybe lean conservative, I am about as moderate/middle as you can get. I have voted Dem when i felt appropriate, I have voted Rep when I felt appropriate. In today’s political climate though, it feels like there is no one that represents ME in either the Democratic or Republican side. If I want to help address climate change it also means I need to give up the right to defend myself (and probably a few other constitutional rights). Immigration is 100% broken and my options are either “let everyone in” or “build a wall”. I don’t think anyone should go bankrupt if they get cancer, but I also think if you decided to rack up $100k in school loans to “art school” that my taxes shouldn’t be paying for it.

Hailey is correct. The trial is held in the Senate. That’s why the House will never send it over. It will be an embarrassment to them when the Senate starts calling real fact witnesses.

True. My mistake.

These are things I agree with you on. I don’t feel represented, and for not falling in step with one side I’m attacked for everything on the other. My opinions have nuance and that’s not allowed it feels.
