PERMITS? WE DON’T NEED NO STINKING PERMITS!!!
I’m with you on that Bill, and hopefully it gains momentum, cause we need this Nation wide. It’s our Constitutional Right!
(I am with you Brother!
Just not being a prohibited person should be enough.
We as members of USCCA likely have more training, and insight than most new Permit-less “Constitutional” carry individuals without Hunter safety, or military training, or experience, I have both.
I understand that there is some legitimate concern for public safety as for having safe drivers on the road and wanting new drivers to have demonstrated an understanding of the fundamentals of safe operation, and vehicle control on the road.
Same thing while boating or hunting.
I don’t want to get killed, or injured by anyone who is irresponsible, careless, or negligently handling their firearm.
My major apprehension is states, or any government entity going beyond a basic safety concern over reaching and over controlling for other issues like politic control such as blue states demonstrate with their anti-2A, unconstitutional ideology being over controlling, and overly restrictive like California and New York among others.
I think that being law abiding citizens we have the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms as the Constitution states, including sufficient ammunition, and not be infringed upon.
Being responsible safe individuals I don’t see any other justification to be otherwise restricted by any other criteria than being safe, not negligent handlers of our firearms.
I don’t want to get shot by some idiot
acting irrationally.
I am comfortable around others with open carrying in public if their behavior is self controlled, and appropriate.
I grew up in a family with firearms, served twenty-five years in the military with firearms, hunted with an entire family of in-laws annually during open deer season. A owner of long-guns without any unsafe, or unlawful incidents all my adult life.
Here in Tennessee (a shall issue permits, and Permit-less state see citizens open carry hip cannons while shopping for groceries, or at a Walmart, no problem.
I recall a few recruits on the firing range in basic training who were visibly shaken around a line of troops firing rifles down range, while I was as comfortable as going to the chaw hall to eat a meal having had the experience of both an NRA safety course in school, and a WW-II veteran father that taught me marksmanship as a preadolescent youth with a semi automatic US M-1 .30 caliber carbine (our home defense firearm).
So, on my first visit to the firing range in basic training I comfortably earned an Expert Marksmanship badge with an M-16 fully automatic assault rifle.
I romped through the obstacle “confidence” course having been an athletically active youth who usually spent all day, and evening running and/or bicycling all over hell’s half archer.
And, we took summer vacations camping.
So, basic training was like a walk in the park summer camp vacation for me while for some who lived cloistered (sheltered) lives it was a distinct struggle, and cultural shock.
Not all are comfortable seeing openly armed citizens casually shopping in public.
As long as no one is acting threateningly I have no problem with that anymore than most are unfazed by seeing uniformed law enforcement officers openly carrying a holstered pistol on there duty belt in public.
But, we have that demographic element in our society that are anti-firearms, especially those with a political agenda that is decidedly unconstitutional.
I am unapologetically a constitutional conservative, and cheerleader of our founding fathers on the other side of that equation who is most appreciative of their wisdom, and spirit.
My only concern is for irresponsible idiots, like reckless drivers who are a threat to public safety, and criminals that we already have regardless of any 2A, firearms issues, and who should be dealt with accordingly.”
The rest of us should NOT be restricted unconstitutionally from responsible gun ownership, and use, including universal reciprocity to drive across any state line with our firearms the same as we can currently drive anywhere in the USA without a firearm.
For gun owners not to be able to travel our nation with a gun(s) freely is being unconstitutionally discriminated against.
Just like we can drive into any county in our home state, we should be able to drive into any state.
Unlike ridiculously restrictive NY state not only does not recognize any other states’ CCW permits, or Constitutional Permitless carry.
NY don’t issue permits, or what they call licenses from a statewide agency but, rather by county.
And, they don’t even have reciprocity between upstate, and downstate without the other’s endorsement.
So, if you live, and work in different jurisdictions across that border, and wish to carry across that line you have to endure the entire process, and fees as if they were in two different states.
And, they are also so restrictive as to not be true CCWs.
Most NYPL, NYCPLs (Pistol Licenses) are issued just for on premises home, or business (your Own, not anyone else’s).
Go out the door, and your weapon has to be locked in an approved box, and the trunk of your car inaccessible to you.
So, that you are unarmed, and defenseless outside your home, or business as soon as you step across that threshold, and are in public.
NY/NYCPLs are only issued for 3-years, vs. TN for 8-years, and cost several hundred dollars more, plus nearly another hundred dollars for the fingerprint background check.
So it is onerously more expensive for much less time, and much more restrictive privilege.
Why I never bothered to get a NYPL pistol permit in NY.
Now I can open carry, or concealed in TN expense free most everywhere that I could for a much more affordable 8-year permit that allows for a few more spaces that I want to be able to carry in like state, and national parks that still require a permit.
Maybe if / when there is universal nationwide reciprocity to carry in all states, parks won’t require permits either.
I am not adverse to getting a Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security issued (HCP) Handgun Carry Permit issued for 8-years that is a true CCW permit beyond my home, and car into most public spaces, just not the typical public places such as schools, day cares, courts, airports, or consuming alcohol where severed.
As I am not prohibited be any of the state’s criteria which, seem reasonable to me primarily not being a criminal, a felon, or fugitive, being a lawful citizen of lawful age, without a history of violence, or behavioral issues threatening public safety such as, domestic violence, stalking, DUI/DWIs, subject of an order of protection, or involuntary admissions for being a danger to self or others… that type of thing.
Not for any anti-2A unconstitutional politically motivated agenda type restrictions like blue states implement.
So, because there are criteria beyond just citizenship, TN is not a true constitutional carry like most other states are not.
But, TN does have the Permitless option since July 1, 2021, no fees, or requirements other than not being a prohibited person, like a felon is.
We moved here that same year, and are very glad that we did, with no regrets.
Living in a free red state is so much better than a Marxist
blue state like a parolee with conditions vs. a free citizen.)
So let me ask a question. How many of you will take a moment to write an email or letter to your congressman or senator asking to support this? If we all did, it WOULD make a difference…
Understood, but we have to try and persist until we prevail.
The Marxist Demonic-Rats do that all the time, wearing down any resistance to their agendas.
Why just give them any victory, or rest by just quitting , or worse, not even trying.
I’d just as soon give them all brain hemorrhages badgering them like they do to our considerable misery.
Pay attention to how many “pro-2A” Democrats fight against it. This isn’t something like an AWB, where they start with, “I’m pro-2A, but…”. This should be as easy as it gets for anyone claiming to be pro-2A.
Already fixing on doing this now that our NM Senator is seeking re-election (thinking twice about NOT voting for him, going the other way), although has done good deeds for NM, BUT, NOT SO GOOD for 2A when introducing anti-gun Bill. SORRY, but NO BUENO for me in BLUE STATE NEW MEXICO. OUT with the ANTIES!
Thank you!
That’s how the Lunatic Left works our system against us.
They play the legislative game to the hilt.
And, then discourage us like the Borg from even trying.
Let’s not make it that easy for them.
Fight like your way of life depends on it.
I have friends who have actually said to me, I’m a conservative Republican but I don’t bother to vote because:
1- I live in a solid Republican town, county, city, state and we are winning no matter what I do.
2- I don’t vote because I live in a deeply Democrat town, county, city, state and we are losing no matter what I do.
Two of the dumbest freaking excuses for sheer laziness I’ve ever heard in my life. They’re still my friends but I have ZERO respect (or interest) on any opinion that comes out of their mouth after those statements.
Understood.
That’s how our opponents beat us, we beat ourselves for them.
We have to collectively stop making it easy for them, and actually make an effort.
If our ranks quit, or don’t even try, who is going to it.
We have to pull our ■■■■ together before it’s too late, and, we are done = (FUBARED!) without our beloved constitution.
We have to preserve our freedom.
Thanks for understanding Brother.
When people do this they give ammunition to the Democrats that want to abolish the Republic and Electoral College in favor of populism and “popular vote”. The next step is states allowing illegals to vote and then the whole country will become a slave to the liberal hell holes like NY, CA etc. that welcome them with open arms at the expense of our own by buying their votes with freebies…
Hope, and pray that never happens but, we seem closer to that than ever.
Dark money has bought the DemonicRats, they are manipulated by it.
The likes of George Soros has spent $Billions on his globalist agenda. That’s hard to beat.
He graduated the London School of Economics with a PhD.
He knows how to corrupt people with his kind of money.
They fall in line to do his bidding at least since Obama has had unlimited access to the White House.
I don’t understand why you think SCOTUS would have anything to do with getting a new law passed.
How about the blue states that are not 2A friendly not ratifying that, and blocking that attempt.
The same ones that don’t recognize other states’ permits with no reciprocity for permits let alone w/o permits going Permitless nationwide.
They will be having strokes and seizure fits.
The change will come from SCOTUS, by declaring blue state laws unconstitutional.
This bill should not be supported because the Federal Government was never delegated the power to regulate firearms. This bill is unconstitutional. If your State has rules you don’t like move, or sue the State. This is not a Federal issue, just like abortion. Most of what is happening in Congress is not constitutional. Feds were created by the States and were delegated a few items to manage. All else remains with the State.
The RHINO’s will ensure it goes nowhere.
I hope that our collective efforts to persist until we prevail like Marines do in battle will make the effort worthwhile, and win us our goal.
Everybody, let’s make a drive / rush for that touchdown.
We owe to ourselves, and our future legacy not to let this be slip from our grasp just because we didn’t try.
That would be a crying shame.
I think EVERYONE should have some type of training before they could carry. (You could shoot your eye or my out our) Seriously, think about Just anyone carrying a loaded pistol or ? that had NO training.
I totally agree with that.
I had Hunter Safety and NRA safety training half century ago, and 25-years in the military, a retired army medic.
But, I have been out a while and wanted a refresher to make sure I did not forget any fundamentals appreciating how vital they are so I went on a quest to learn all that I could independently.
A fraternal brother also happened to be a CHP holder and USCCA member refereed, and I became a member at the Platinum level completing all that training that I could as well.
I have to upgrade to Elite to compete what training is held to that level.
But, I had my eyes opened to not just safety and marksmanship fundamentals but, also all the legal concerns and considerations which, is to say a lot, including keeping current, and that there so many differences between the different states. Reciprocity issues, a national reciprocity would be so much better, and easier.
It became a full-time retirement hobby.
I live in a different county, but their county sheriff’s office here in TN prior to TN’s July 1, 2021 allowing its Permitless option to their two tier CCW standard CHP Carry Handgun and their ECHP Enhanced CHP both require some some Certified Training 90 minutes online vs longer in person for the ECHP.
The Sheriff’s held a Citizens Safety Training course / session by their deputy’s training instructors that’s2 - hours long that they made a YouTub video of them and also released,
Regardless of option one must not be prohibited
person that meets the state’s criteria.
I myself intend to get our ECHP, as it allows for more places and spaces to carry, and about a dozen more states Horner it for reciprocity.
