He could and has used the exact same excuse. Covid was still being passed off as a massive issue when Biden entered the White House. Trump’s miracle vaccines were just starting to hit the market. The Covid Health emergency wasn’t declared over until almost halfway through 2023 I believe. Trump only got to use Covid as an excuse for one year. Biden had well over 2.
In my book it is a piss poor excuse for either one of them. The mishandled response to Covid by both the Trump and Biden administrations unnecessarily shut down our economy and added significantly to the deficit both with lost revenue and massive misplaced bailout spending to try and counteract all the negative impacts from their flawed responses.
All this together with the decades of corrupt policies and ever increasing deficit spending are why we are where we are today. The economy has been on life support since 2007. That event was a direct result of all the corruption and bad policies from the 90s and early 2000s.
There are only so many times they can reinflate the same burst bubble before it just can’t be blown back up anymore. The politicians can’t keep getting away with printing their way out of all the massive issues their corruption and flawed policies keep getting us into.
