Executive Order Signals Rollback of Biden-Era Firearms Regulations and Overhaul of Second Amendment Policy at DOJ

I know that we even have one category of memes that admonishes: “No politics, and no religion.”

But, politicians have inexorably intertwined themselves with our (2A) Second Amendment rights, and their infringements on it making it impossible not to address the polarized political nature of this issue.

The last administration made it their goal to infringe on our constitutional rights as much as possible, with the wish to ultimately abolish our rights.

This administration wishes to correct that.

So, here we are. Still battling for our rights but, with this administration in support of us.

This is a worthwhile quick read on where we are at the moment.

Our gun rights, and politics cannot be completely separated if we our to protect our rights; that is our playing field…

Maybe.

All of Trump’s other EOs took immediate action with no concerns for the unintended consequences. Yet when he finally got around to taking some action on the 2A his EO states that it will review Biden’s actions and see if any of them violated the 2A. Is there any doubt from any truly 2A people that Biden’s actions didn’t clearly violate the 2A? Why didn’t this EO just immediately erase all of Biden’s executive actions as all of the other EOs did?

People like to ignore just how anti 2A Trump was during his first term. This slow to come out, maybe we will do something about it in the future EO isn’t giving me a lot of faith that his views on this topic have changed. He talks a good pro 2A talk when he wants our votes. But his actions then and now do not come anywhere close to his words.

Hopefully he can prove me wrong. But he is off to a very slow start.

Nothing wrong with doing some discovery investigations before taking more pro-2A action. Seems reasonable to me.

It’s a step in the right direction. Give it a chance.

At least Trump stated his desire to support 2A, and correct infringements on 2A, broadly speaking.

Of course there is no doubt that there are infringements on our constitution rights that should not be, given the supremacy clause of the constitution over states restrictions.

That should be unquestionably the law of the land, but it has been stepped on.

This is what we have to work with for now which, is a lot better that what we had recently.

I’m impatient also, starting with none of this should even be an issue. But, it is what it is.

So, until the Supreme Court grows a pair, and declares all the various states’ restrictions unconstitutional, this is on the table now.

Which, I fervently hope this action will provoke, the Supreme Court declaring all restrictions unconstitutional, but here we are with this for now.

This may turn out to be our best hope for the best possible outcome in our favor.

So, I for one applaud it, at this point in time, as our current best chance to correct all previous failures, and wish it the best for its success.

Slow start? He only just got inaugurated January 20, 2025, one month ago, today is February 20, 2025.
He had a lot on his plate, like stopping the third world invasion of the USA trying to make us a third world :poop: hole :hole: too, and end Trillions of dollars of government waste and fraud, without both of which, the very existence of the USA is threatened.

Personally, I don’t want to be overrun by illegal alien criminals, and bankrupt with my hard earned benefits given to support them either.

I think those are a couple of worthy priorities also.

EXACTLY! If you care about your gun rights, you BETTER start paying attention.

You see clearly my friend.

Thank you kindly.

I try harder.

Just ask my wife, she’ll tell you how trying I am.

My civilian and military medical training taught me how to sort casualties (triage), and set priorities.

It also taught me how the “write to the point” reports for those w/o the time to spare searching for that point if you even made one.

Besides, how long and how many contributed to the state’s restrictions on our 2A Second Amendment rights, and how fragmented, and scattered are they to tackle individually?

With a stroke of a pen the Supreme Court could have asserted its Jurisdictional Authority of the Supremacy Clause, and ended all the forgoing without letting any of it accumulate, or causing any others to try to undo what so many have done for so long to infringe on our rights.

That did NOT happen overnight, by itself.

Who else has, or had the authority to fix this problem previously?

It has been festering for a very long time, and many contributors got us to where we are today.

Many could have intervened previously, but did not.

I have been writing my elected representatives for a long time, but I am preaching to the choir as not only do they support 2A, some have sponsored Pro-2A legislation. But, too many others in congress have opposed this.

A superior authority has been lacking in asserting itself previously also.

Again, here we are now, at this point in time.

It’s past due time that we all did something.

This is a something that we can support and push now.

Enough of the finger pointing and in fighting that is self defeating.

Let’s just do this now, and get on with other pressing matters.

There is so much else that needs correction.

“Triage” is EXACTLY the right metaphor that is happening in this administration right now.

You are a gentleman and a scholar.

You are most welcome.

I don’t know how much of a gentleman, or scholar I really am, I likely could benefit from some improvement in both areas.

What were the pro 2A actions from his first full 4 year term? Other than banning bump stocks

I am willing to give him a chance to prove that he is better than Biden for us, and 2A.

That’s a pretty low bar.

The trouble here is that simply putting a pause on restrictions for 4 years is “better than”.

But if one side pauses or only infringes a tiny bit, and the other side constantly pushes and infringes as much as they can…we only ever go backwards.

We need more than “better than”. We are just losing the cake one slice at a time. We aren’t, at a federal level, really ever getting anything back

I agree, but right now he is our best hope for far better than what has been. He seems much more results oriented and invigorated this time around.

That gives me optimism for far better than what has been.

I don’t have a crystal ball, I cannot predict the future. But, he did persevere against all odds to win, despite their trying everything possible to stop him.

And, he has made great progress at keeping his promises so far, I don’t see any reason to think that he won’t follow through on this also.
