Executive Order Signals Rollback of Biden-Era Firearms Regulations and Overhaul of Second Amendment Policy at DOJ

Trump has been in power for only 31 days, about 2% of his entire term.
Traitors delayed confirmation of members of his cabinet.
I think there are still better days ahead.

I’m going to be honest. All of these changes being made by Executive Order are meaningless in the long term. Unless Congress gets off of it’s collective derrieres and writes laws that support Trump’s Executive Orders, then all of these Executive Orders mean nothing the moment the Democrats regain the White House. A new Democrat President would undo everything Trump has done, by just revoking or writing their own Executive Orders. So while it is undeniably a good thing, to see Trump eviscerating and undoing Ol’ Pudding Pants Executive Orders. It’s all “Sound and Fury, signifying nothing”.

Our elected representatives are doing nothing while hiding behind Trump and letting him be the outward facing Head of the Party and are doing nothing except virtue signaling. Because as long as all of these actions are achieved by Executive Order. Then the next time Democrats gain the White House all of those Executive Orders will be reversed.

I’m all in for what Trump is trying to achieve, but it’s all ultimately useless if Congress does not write legislation to turn Trump’s Executive Orders into law.

Long term, an Executive Order is absolutely useless and will just escalate into a giant game of Presidential Tit-For-Tat. Haven’t we learned anything? The Democrats go after the Republicans, the Republicans go after the Democrats and it goes on and on ad nauseum. While We The People sit there and cheer on our guy, the plutocrats loot the public coffers. Do not think for a minute that it’s only Democrats that have enriched themselves into becoming multi millionaires on a $200k a year salary. I love what DOGE is doing but I guaran-dang-tee you that the next time the Democrats come into power they will have their own version of DOGE to look through Trump’s administration to spot corruption.

I am absolutely unwilling to give the Republicans OR the Democrats a pass on being a supporter of the 2nd Amendment until LAWS are passed. Fudge all of these Executive Orders!

“A PESSIMIST
SEES THE DIFFICULTY IN EVERY
OPPORTUNITY; AN OPTIMIST SEES THE OPPORTUNITY
IN EVERY DIFFICULTY.”
-Winston Churchill

And a realist sees when a politician is blowing smoke up their behind.

As @Zavier_D points out all these EOs are pointless in the end. But I find Trumps “Pro 2A” EO to be particularly revealing.

He has no problem writing EOs letting Musk and his interns indiscriminately fire and coerce into quitting hundreds of thousands of government workers with in almost all cases zero research into how important those positions are. He had no problems unilaterally erasing all of Biden’s DEI initiatives and gutting his “Green Energy” initiatives, etc………

But when it comes to his promise to undo all of Biden’s anti 2A Executive actions in his first week in office? We get an EO a few weeks later saying they will carefully look into it and get back to us??? So yes I would call that a very slow and ineffectual start.

Hopefully all the Pro 2A organizations who saw all their hopes go up in smoke during Trump 1.0 wont sit on their hands this time around and hope a politician who has been anti 2A his entire life - outside of when running for office - will suddenly change his ways. If they don’t get the pro 2A masses organized to start putting the Republicans feet to the fire we are very likely to get a repeat of Trump’s first 4 years. Or worse.

I have seen almost zero proof that Trump and all his little Congressional Trump Puppets are anywhere near as Pro 2A as they constantly tell us they are. Smoke up my butt isn’t cutting it. Especially given their long and consistent history of inaction.

So you all can be forgiving of their past errors. And wait patiently for them to maybe finally do what they have been promising for decades. Or you can pick up the phone and hold your Congress critters feet to the fire. Tell them the time is now to put all their pretty pro 2A words into actual action instead of just more ineffectual words like those in this worthless EO that seems designed much more to simply placate the Pro 2A crowd than to actually restore and protect any of our rights.

My neighbors and I have been on the phone and writing emails trying to save some important government positions necessary for protecting our community. We have mostly failed but do seem to have had a couple of important, though perhaps only temporary, successes. Stop giving Trump a free pass on the 2A. There is zero proof he deserves it. Get on the phone and let him and your other representatives know their words are worthless without real actions.

I think that is what an optimistic realist would do.

When it comes to effective pro 2A actions from Trump and my elected representatives on the Right and the Left my glass is completely empty and has a pretty big hole in the bottom of it.

Positive thinking can only get people so far. Without positive actions positive thinking has more in common with self delusion than actual success. If we can apply enough pressure our Congress critters might be forced to at least throw us a couple of real Pro 2A crumbs to keep us off their back. This EO doesn’t count. It is just another empty promise of some future crumbs that maybe might come our way someday.

Maybe Trump will be different this time on the 2A. I would love for him and the Republicans to prove me wrong. But I am seeing zero evidence of that so far.

I agree 100% with your assessment of the tenuous nature of executive orders only being a quick fix.

A lot of what Trump has reversed of the Biden era is his executive orders.

If we loose the next presidential election that pendulum could swing the other way.

Also, in the meantime are upcoming “midterm” elections that will be vitally important to our Pro-2A agenda’s success or failure.

We need not lose a single seat in either the House of Representatives or the Senate in our Congress, or in our State Legislatures or Assemblies.

Just look at how close the razor thin margin of votes got all of Trump’s Cabinet Nominees Confirmed.

Hardly more than tie breakers in some cases.

If we are to succeed in advancing our Pro-2A agenda against the opposition’s Anti-2A agendas on the state and federal levels, we need to keep the Red Tide rolling in the midterms, and next presidential elections.

We cannot afford to sit back at home and rest on our laurels of just winning this past presidential election.

We could easily lose our thin edge that could sink our chances of reenforcing our gains by executive orders being confirmed by more solid legislative action that would be harder to reverse.

Especially if we can maintain or improve the number of seats that we hold in the Legislative bodies of the federal and state governments to insure that we don’t lose any gains that we have hard earned thus far.

It vitally important that we all stay as civically engaged as we did this most recent presidential election, that was hotly contested with every dirty trick to get a different outcome.

Our vote was “too big to rig.”

Let’s not forget that, and not give any of that away going forward.

That is the only way that we can insure not backsliding to what we just narrowly escaped a continuance of.

Don’t forget to get off our couches, and keep getting our vote out going forward if we are to insure our constitutional rights don’t get trashed.

Fight! Fight! Fight! Vote! Vote! Vote!

Our rights have been getting trashed by the Left and the Right for decades. Especially after 9/11.

Rather than freely giving away your vote to the Right in the next election I suggest you make them earn it first. They had two years of full Republican control during Trump 1.0 and passed ZERO measurable pro 2A laws. They didn’t even bring any significant 2A laws up for a vote.

My Republican Congressman that I voted for the past two times has officially lost my vote next time around. He is going to have to work his butt off if he wants any hope of earning it back.

There are ratings of elected representatives on their worthiness as conservatives, or loyalty to Pro-2A agendas.

I will attempt to find and post their links to insure we are making informed decisions when voting, and not waisting our votes on the unworthy.

Senate adopts $340 billion budget blueprint for Trump’s agenda after marathon ‘vote-a-rama’ - NBC News

This is another example / reason why a I am optimistic for our future Pro-2A agenda being advanced during the current Trump term.

We have an unprecedented momentum going forward now.

Let’s ride this onward!

I don’t count all the “Pro-2A” representatives who vote for Pro 2A Bills when there is an Anti 2A President in the White House they know will veto them. Then when they get a supposedly Pro 2A President in the White House they don’t even bring Pro 2A bills up for a vote.

That is false virtue signaling, intentionally ineffective pandering and future election vote farming. It is not real Pro 2A action.

That’s the catch, isn’t it?

Do you vote for the party that won’t try to put The People back to the stone age of arms (if even that is still allowed), or vote for the party that will try to put The People back to the stone age (again…if even that is still allowed)

OK, then what do you suggest that we do to get back our un-infringed Second Amendment Rights infringed on by at least a dozen anti-2A blue states, DC, etc.

That don’t have reciprocity with the rest of the United States, or are more restrictive than the other states?

Like limited capacity for instance…etc.

Or find other options to vote for besides the two parties who have spent the past 4 plus decades robbing us blind and taking our rights away.

That is what I try to do. But unfortunately the majority of voters seem perfectly happy to keep on choosing between their preferred lesser of two evils. The continuing results of that strategy seem pretty clear to me. More and more people are waking up to the problems we are facing but they keep expecting the people who made all these problems to be the ones to fix them.

Only when the Republicans and Democrats stop receiving a sufficient number of our votes will they be forced to consider actually working for us instead of for themselves.

I guess there is a third choice: Vote for someone who has no chance at winning and abstain from the viable candidates entirely.

It’s a nice theory…we just haven’t been able to hit critical mass to make it effective

I blame the Supreme Court for not clamping down on states unconstitutional infringements on our 2A rights.

The Supremacy Clause of the Constitution a should have long ago been reaffirmed as the law of the land, not requiring and additional legislation than what is already in our Constitution.

That alone should have ended all subsequent infringements that have accumulated. Simply, we should not have to consult our reciprocity map and laws website to plan a multi state trip itinerary.

There should not be all that much of any difference between the states, if all we had to consider was our 2A rights, but here we are.

You shoot holes in everything suggested to improve this situation.

What exactly would you do (to your satisfaction) to correct all of the 2A issues?

Only because everyone keeps forgetting that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

We don’t have any more time for these divisive and completely ineffective Left/Right games. They had their chance. They not only failed they have been intentionally profiting from the losses they keep inflicting on us. We keep seesawing left and right while the country goes down the tubes.

The only way to fix that is for a majority on the Left, Right and Center to say enough is enough. Even if we can’t find an outsider everyone could agree on, getting even just a quarter of the voting public to vote for anyone not offered to us by the Democrat or Republican parties, or even just putting in votes for none of the above, would send a very strong signal that we have all had enough.

Until then they are just going to keep offering us their preferred “lesser” evils.

You make a good point: Our two party system as designed just perpetuates itself to the exclusion of any other option. Point being that no presidential candidate not endorsed by either major party has won a presidential election since it became just the Republicans vs. the Democrats. Any, alternative third party candidate has not won a presidential election.

There are those who would have voted Libertarian, or Tea Party vs. Republican Party, or Democratic Perry if they had a snowball’s chance in hell of winning.

But, until that changes, the two party system is what we have to work with or waste our votes as either of those win regardless of trying to buck that system.

I don’t know what else to suggest myself.

All that I can surmise is that the Democratic Party has been highjacked by the Socialists who typically led to Communism, that leads to gun confiscation as a means to suppress any resistance by murdering millions its citizens.

And, the wealth that they bate everyone with the promises of being redistributed never happens, they keep it all to themselves.

Like the democrats did in the last administration.

So, what’s next?

We The People voted for change and got it.

Now we are inpatient for instant reversal of everything that has taken decades and multiple administrations to screw up.

And, flip it all right on a dime.

We are lucky to have a new president that has made enormous strides to as much as he has in the first month of his second term.

That gives me hope that if able to keep up that pace, we can expect a lot more positive results in the duration of his term.

What scares me is the collective short term memory, and amnesia of the electorate not following through the midterms, and next presidential election to keep this trend going forward from here.

I don’t know what else to hope, and pray for, that will preserve our freedoms for the next generation.

I am open to suggestions.

God Bless and Save America. :us:
