How do you train without ammo at home and in the classroom?

I use a Lazerlyte adaptor in my pistol to maintain its fit and feel in my hand. I also use a spring air 1911 style BB gun and trap to live fire safely.

I use my EDC with the ELMS laser system on my 10" android tablet. Currently practicing draw and fire from my AIWB holster on a sturdy carboard multi-target designed for shotgun. The range prohibits this practice so I find it valuable. Remember to press trigger more than once to simulate possible real situation.

Mantis X10. Awesome

Old school Imagine method, few buddies and I developed this system. Works best if there’s two teams adding a “capture the flag” component. Sound not included but optional. No batteries necessary.

Yes, it is expensive, but equal to 700 rounds… so in my opinion it’s worth it.

As my normal EDC is a 1911, I train by using a spent cartridge in the chamber, so that I am not dropping the hammer on a “naked” firing pin. With the hammer cocked and safety engaged, I draw from my EDC holster, acquire sight picture on my target, clear the safety and press the trigger, dropping the hammer. A lot to be desired in this type of practice but, it works for me. I was never one to drop the hammer without a contact point for the firing pin. I believe this creates undue harmonics which are detrimental to the firing pin itself. I know that many would say that this is not required but, I can’t bring myself to do it. While I have a laser sight in my grips, I don’t use it for training and prefer to use the proper sight picture method.

SIRT mostly, but I also use a GLOCK 17R (Resetting trigger) quite a bit. The trigger in the 17R is heavier than those in standard GLOCKS (9-10 # or so); long reset (3/8"); revolver-ish feel. It gives my trigger finger a work out. I don’t worry about the difference in ‘feel’ because I shoot a light-breaking Ruger Mk 2, GLOCKs, and a heavy-triggered S&W 610 in SCSA, IDPA, GSSF and ICORE competitions.

Bought the iTarget laser system. It is outstanding. 100 Bucks…got the 9mm laser so I can use in both my 9mm Sig as well as my pocket .380 Taurus. Use it at least once a week…very good and great fun!!

Well if we had duck hunt on Nintendo lol

For real though
I’ve never used snap caps and not sure how they work in a semi automatic and which snap caps are the best to get.

I have a Lazer Snap Cap… I like to practice as if one is in chamber and ready , 1 not in chamber , also draw , safety off , pull slide & fire . But the lazer snap is great

I train with a Blue Gun. Mine is a Glock 17 Gen3 and since I leave my gun always hot. With a Blue Gun it fits my holster allows me to get grip and sight radius works out your muscle memory. I add pressure like squeegeeing the trigger. Best $50 I ever bought to dry fire with. My shooting got a little better. Y’all should try:v:t2::cactus::cactus::cactus::cactus:
