Yes I have even though my one US Senator hates guns in the hands of We The People, Tammy Duckworth(D) is a veteran and she’s not a big fan of the Second Amendment and my other Senator Dick Durbin(D) wrote me a letter by USPS some months ago telling me in writing mind you the Second Amendment is only for hunting and not meant for people to carry guns like has become popular. So good old IL politics as usual. My congressman is Sean Casten (D) IL6 first term and I pray that he’s 1 and Done. My Congressional District was redistricted, Gerrymandered. My state representative is her first term and she is a wannabe gun grabber my state Senator is also a woman who hates gun rights. I would love to find out how my district flipped because being retired I talk to a lot of people nowadays all I can say with a degree of certainty is that we were redistricted and here in IL money talks as evidenced by the great numbers of our Governors who go to prison, it’s not even funny. Anything can be bought for a price. City, County, State.

We have the same Senators, but, I have Mike Bost as my Representative m and Dave Severin and Dale Fowler, so I’m good there. I did reach out and thank them for defending my rights. Dave is even going to come meet the 4H rifle team I coach, and get a photo with them. He’s also the chair of the 2nd Amendment Caucus for the Republican Party in Illinois.

My representative and senators at state and federal level support the 2A as written.

Hi Chet,
Yes I know what a (terrible) deal hey?! :woman_shrugging::woman_shrugging: I really wonder if our IL will and can be split off into two states? Yes It can but I also know tax money is the Drug of choice for politicians and I don’t think these people are going to let those Dollars go without a battle.

I always correspond with mine, but they are all pro-2A even my democrat governor is, but he doesn’t respond.
I’ve even gone as far as writing the president…
No response from him but that VERY UNDERSTANDABLE.

I’ve contacted:
Mike Johnson, R (Congressman for my district)
John Kennedy, D that turned R in 2007 (Senator on the Judiciary Committee)
Bill Cassidy, R (Senator but he’s for the southern part of Louisiana but hey, wrote him anyways) They all are very supportive of the 2A, sometimes I’ll get better answers than other times.

I’m sorry you have bad representation.

IS your state leftest? Are did the state citizens just sleep on election day?

Me and @Robert8 are from the same state, Illinois. He’s in the metro north, Chicago area. I’m in the rural south. The population density of Chicago is such that whatever political party can convince the masses, they have the numbers to run the table on the rest of the state. In the 2016 election, Clinton won 10 percent of the counties, but got the whole state. That’s why I tell others about IGOLD, which is 4-1-2020 for any interested this year. If all the FOID card holders show up that day, 2.3 million of us, then they can’t ignore us. Last year, we had 8500. Not even 1 percent. And that is why we are ignored by the anti-2A folks in Illinois.

@Randall318 Sorry Randall I just woke up and am moving around now. Well Chet ( @45IPAC) told you exactly right
Unfortunately the corrupt politicians of IL up to Governor because the last 2 Bruce Rauner who claims to be a Republican and wasn’t allowed to do much because Mike Madigan is and was the person who runs this state. His daughter Lisa Madigan is IL Attorney General CONFLICT MUCH!?? Duh; So with Democrats giving away Goodies and otherwise Free Stuff for votes. Minorities have been victims of the Democrat abuse since I was a child growing up on South Side of Chicago. My father was a city worker which means you must vote Democrat and in the’50s, 60s, 70s, and probably still the Block Captain rounds up the neighborhood and they walk or are driven to the Polls. You had to be registered Democrat. Anyone in your family had to be Democrat or you lose your job. Mayor Richard J Daley sent out Ward bosses back in the days to what was then Skid Row and gave liquor to the bums and the alcoholic in the flop houses. They voted multiple times under different ID’s, there’s been a half dozen mayors since then Daley’s son among them. There’s no such thing as a Chicago Republican Politician. And dead people are at that time still voting my father would be about 115 now and I don’t doubt that he is still voting. The current Governor JB Pritzker (D)bought the election also He is a Billionaire big dog in the Hyatt Hotel Corp. JB has a condo in downtown Chicago and pays near $0 tax because plumbers ripped out the toilets so he had the condo deemed uninhabitable. There’s always a Democrat con going on. So, the people downstate get screwed 100% because the people in Chicago are more than all the votes downstate people. It’s corrupt as you can get. As far as where I am, IL6
DuPage County, was Gerrymandered and redistricted to pull in Democrat votes. I had a RINO Peter Roskam originally claimed to be Tea Party but after he was in his first term he discovered he was not a Tea Party and won the Second Term but lost the Third Term because of gerrymandering, he wasn’t that good but lost by about 20,000 votes which is about the same numbers as the gerrymandering involved. Peter Roskam at least voted Yea on the Gun Bills which made him valuable. I don’t know what I can tell you more. If you interested read the book ‘BOSS’, it’s a biography of Richard J Daley it is very enlightening.
And yes we all FOID owners have to show up 4/1/2020 for IGOLD in Springfield which is IL state capital.

I’m praying the election will turn things around for you!

Well Jeanne Ives is running for IL6, I hope she gets it. She was my state representative here for IL42 that sounds like a conflict but IL42 is state level and IL6 is Congressional level.
As far as Dick (the Turban)Durbin he’s a real waste of oxygen. A second amendment hater, “lives” far south in East St Louis but I don’t think he’s been there for many years. He’s mainly in Chicago kissing up when he’s home.
Tammy Duckworth is a Veteran and she does what Durbin does (on record) she’s not a fan of the Second Amendment.
Chicago has been in a Coma for well over 100 years. There was a Mayor named Thompson who was elected twice his first was 1869 I believe, last was 1915 but I don’t know much about him and information is kind of missing.
But for things to change?? We can only hope. I could tell you a lot about Chicago
but I will another time. My mother knew Al Capone she lived a few houses down from Al’s mother when she was a child and he came on Sunday to visit his mother and kids always ran to see him, he gave out brand new $5 bills to the kids in the neighborhood, which was a lot of money back in the late 1800’s early 1900’s. Thinking back about it he probably had his boys print the money but he was a very bad guy so he probably got it off the gambling or alcohol or girls.

This is something that actually disturbs me. There are 6,000,000ish members of the bought and paid for Everytown and Mom’s Demand Action.

There are 18,000,000+CCL holders alone. We aren’t bought, we aren’t paid for. We are the Silent Majority. We are the adults, waiting patiently for the “bread and circuses” minority to grow up. So we can engage in thoughtful and logical debate on how to remove guns from the hands of criminals. Without infringement upon the rights of the law abiding citizens.

But they aren’t going to grow up. If anyone doesn’t see that after yesterday’s tragic shooting at the White Chapel Church in Texas. Wake the F@#& up, read the tweets of the Democratic leaders in the aftermath. Were they praising the courage of the church’s security team who stopped the shooter. No, these insensitive “thought leaders” of the Democratic Party used it as an opportunity to call for MORE gun control. None of them offered true words of condolences or of sorrow. Just more words to push their political agenda.

The only politician that I saw that got it right was the Governor of Texas. Yesterday’s shooting, tragic as it was, proves one thing to me. The only way that you stop a bad guy with a gun, is with good guys with guns. My heart is broken for the family of that courageous security team member, but I know this for a fact. God welcomed one of his own, home yesterday.

That is the problem. Republican voters are very nice overall non-confrontational people. Democrats have militarized over time to the extremist of today. If gun owners don’t vote straight ticket Republican then they are the problem, if they don’t like it well suck it up and vote anyway whether you’re Catholics or Jewish or Protestant or anything else people have must vote straight ballots or be neutered next November. This is the #1 most important thing of our lifetime. There’s no re-do after this radicalizing Democrat voters isn’t an issue or an opinion or an option because welcome Socialism and the 100 year plan is a reality. China’s 100 year plan for toppling America and we have full on Communism. At this point you won’t have to worry about any guns the ChiComs will make you feel safe and feed us all

I have always voted my conscience, I don’t particularly agree with all of the Republican Parties issues. Not going to list them here as I don’t particularly feel like fighting that fight today. But as the Democratic Party swings further and further left, they are alienating the middle ground and now they are threatening core values, such as the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. When I discharged from the military I don’t recall anything that rescinded my oath to defend my country from it’s enemies, both foreign and domestic. That may be a quaint and antiquated mouthing of words to today’s politicians. But I meant it then and I mean it now.

The problem for me has always been there are issues I just don’t agree with Republicans on. But the Democrats have gone to far to the left for me to be comfortable voting anything BUT a straight Republican ticket.

I guess it will make election day easier. It’s just sad that there isn’t a viable option for a 3rd party Candidate that doesn’t steal votes from the Republicans and thus ensure a Democratic Party win.

I agree with you @Zavier_D they are all pathetic piles of poop it’s just the Republicans poop piles are smaller than the opposition’s poop. Republicans aren’t going to take their bread-and-butter voters (Gun Owners) and discard us. As for your thoughts on Third Party it’s always been known to be a spoiler vote as example the late Ross Perot and his charts. He ran for president in 1992 and 1996 I voted for him in 1992, historically political analysts say third party voting assures victory for Democrats and as evidenced by Bill Clinton won the presidency in 1992 and the electoral college that year. That was the last time I can remember there was a 3rd party spoiler. Perot ran again unsuccessfully in 1996.

Sometimes I’m wondering if the republicans did not rely on the NRA and other Gun Right organizations, would they support the 2A?

Same applies for Dems, Would they support “Pro choice” if they did not rely on the money?

I understand about 3rd party votes. I actually considered voting for Perot but he sort of lost his everloving fricking mind months before the election. So I gritted my teeth and voted for Bush/Quayle.

I don’t know what it is about Republican Presidential candidates and their VP choices, it’s like they are scared to have a qualified VP. Well except for Dubya, though I always heard Darth Vader’s theme music in my head when Cheney came up.
