Glock Discontinued and New V model

I wont get rid of the glocks I have, but I won’t buy another new one. Find a deal on a good used one, sure but not new.

I just can’t support a gun company that pretty much cancels itself due to pressure. Some of you think otherwise but thats me. Any gun can be manipulated by outside sources, glock is no different. They folded, and didnt stand their ground.

Just my opinion of course

I guess the silver lining is they may be forced to innovate. Rumor is gen 6 will be modular (RXM already is). Modularity is just not something I care for. I believe in adapting to the platform with training. BUT modularity is at least more options.

I might go take a look and see if any gen 5s are around. I hope the new products are good, but I don’t like buying new releases (any brand M&P included)

It’s just wild to see Glocks hand forced after being the gold standard for years. I’d imagine their product will remain high quality and most of the features will be the same. Holsters will remain compatible. I wish they’d just put stock steel sights and make them all optic ready :sob:

I really like to see Glock incorporating FCU for their handguns.
They made so many models differ only with slide or / and frame sizes, giving them next patent number confusing everyone with those model numbers.
FCU would make it easy. One model with multiple options. They can serialize FCU and end user can build the rest with the size for his / her needs.

I too wish the factory sights would be steel.

That’s a really good point.

I could of course be wrong, but I had heard the opposite, that the other non Glock firearm makers had actually “given in” years ago, and it was Glock who was the "last man standing”. That Glock was last to change; that the other makers were first to make the changes so they could not be made into full auto. IDK though.

If a customer chooses not to be a patron, I completely get and respect that, I’m that way with certain car brands and Browning, but just my personal belief.

Hey guys,
So instead of making a new post, I thought I would put the information here instead. I reached out to Glock and this is what they told me.

First response
Good morning,

There will be changes internally with the new V series, particularly on the firing pin, slide milling, trigger housing, and back plate. Externally, these pistols will remain unchanged from the Generation 5; so much so that the V series will fit holsters made for their Gen 5 counterparts. Some MOS support will exist for Law Enforcement, however no word is out as to when that will be opened up to the commercial market. The V Glock 23, 20, and 21 will all be available commercially with the MOS variant and some dealers will have exclusivity to the Glock 19X V MOS with threaded barrel. Barrels will be cross-compatible between Gen 5 an V and magazines will remain compatible as well.

We hope this information helps, have a great weekend!

Second response after asking what the “C” means after certain models

The C models are the compensated ones. So, I’m glad to see that those are making a comeback.

Hopefully that clarifies some things. I know I was a bit confused about this whole change from Gen 5 to Gen V

So.. the World didn’t collapse. :joy:

Last 4 days were like preparing for WWIII … discontinuation rumors hit every social media creating big revenues for content creators…

And what do we find? According to @Matthew419 we finally receive modern, hopefully better Glock’s upgraded version… meaning whatever happened, it’s just a normal modernization process :upside_down_face:

@Matthew419 - thx for your post with clarification

Modern would be getting rid of optical plates and going to direct mount.

Glock hasn’t found it “modern” yet… :joy:

I wonder how long the clones will be on the market without having to discontinue or change; RXMs, PSA Dagger, and Shadow Systems.

I do not see them changing anything just because of California, 1 State out of the entire country.

After learning more about the Glock issue, Glock Had potential lawsuits in many states.

The lawsuits are really crazy. First off, there are so many Glocks in circulation and they have been used by law enforcement for years… Glocks are not disappearing from the streets. Second, quick YouTube searches you can find videos of M&Ps with switches.

I understand Glock covering their butts, but no problems are being solved by this mess

That’s crazy. You know someone will have a Glock V doing that first week of release.

So I’ve been thinking a lot on all of this Glock stuff. I was considering buying a g19.5 or a 2nd G19X while I still can. I think I’m going to hold off. BUT I do want to go ahead and pick up a 43X MOS sometime down the line. The 43X is the gun I depend upon the most, and I want to ensure I have another in case something like this goes down in future.

Not a panic buy, but I want to make sure I have a duplicate of the gun I train with the most.

I’m not a Glock guy, although I own two. But I get why they did this, and don’t think there’s any downside for them. Except thecrazy left will come up with another excuse.
