really shocked by this. I’m a Glock guy. Not sure if this means I should grab a 19 while I can, or if I should just go RXM and S&W down the road. I get making changes to make it more difficult fir criminals to make full auto, but letting Cali strong arm the company when gen 3 glocks are the only ones sold their anyway is insane to me.
Got curious and googled CA sales stats. Did a Sig AI write this?
AI Overview
Glock was the top-selling gun brand in California in 2024, based on the number of crime guns recovered and traced by the state
. Other brands that also had a high number of crime guns recovered included Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Taurus, and Springfield Armory. While Glock led in recovered crime guns, Sig Sauer was ranked as a top-selling handgun brand based on customer purchases, particularly for models like the P365.
I think it’s pretty clear why Glock won’t make bigger mags for the 43x and 48 now.
I may not be a Glock guy after this. There’s plenty of guns with better features coming out at cheaper prices… some of which are literal clones of glocks. I can get an RXM for $400 with an optics cut and steal sights.
If only it’s CA legal
Glock is discontinuing all models that can be converted to full auto with a Glock Switch.
Which is every Glock ouside of the slim line (43,43x,48).
Bummer. Thanks for starting this post. Curious as to how it affects us. I have a couple of their old models.
My first questions is will I continue to find accessories for them if I need them in the future. Thinking my old model number might not be mentioned in the sales ads, at some time in the near future.
How would it affect re-sale/re-sell used value?
I cannot blame anyone for switching to their newer models or even other brands. I personally think I’ll continue to keep and use mine for various reasons and preferences which meet my needs unlike other brands.
If I ever do change, I’d just get one of their newer models.
The Glock business: IDK. As much as I’m glad I don’t live in CA, those laws will spread.
I see Glock’s point. When I weigh the pro’s con’s risks benefits, even financially and legally. Who wants those headaches? I’m puzzled why so many buy Glock. I thought I was only one of a few. But if they still fill the niche, in five years - this mass model change will pass; I’m guessing.
I’m more concerned about the criminals who convert them to full auto; Glock was just the " low hanging fruit".
Apparently, other US states and cities have similarly filed law suits. If there was never a law suit or law restriction, and if Glock independently decided to make all new models unable to be similarly converted to full auto - I think I would not mind that it’s those criminals out in the community who would have that distant advantage against me, which is ominous from a risk view.
How does the threat to Glock, differ from the threat to SIG Sauer (model 320 accidents), as both have responded differently? Interesting from a business administration view.
Discontinued?
Oops…
Perhaps it’s time to switch to Shadow Systems firearms? ![]()
If I’m not mistaking, the change impacts Glock and other firearms that function like Glock, is that right? This would probably also include Shadow Systems as well, wouldn’t it?
Since the eternals are compatible with Glock and can take the same parts I would have to say yes.
Poly80, Zev, Dagger, RXM, Grizzly, LTD19, FNK?
This does nothing to reduce the number of Glocks already in circulation. The “switch” industry is not in any danger.
Of course… it only prevents from bringing more “full auto Glocks” on the market.

I’m guessing next month we will be able to find “Glock Switch V Model” available…

Made in Austria, $800 tax stamp.
I don’t see why. This is Glock making their own changes. Doesn’t mean Shadow systems RXM or psa have to change. In fact they may not be able to change because they are only able to be built because the gen 3 patent expired. They can’t just copy the new Glock.
They most likely will not change. Newsom just will not allow them to be sold in PRC.
So the V is only internal, not cosmetic, maybe only 1 finger groove ![]()
You are absolutely right @Soutbob. I totally agree! You see, what had happened was: I mis-read the thread heading (can you believe that?), and responded to earlier news of Glock being banned in CA. I just jumped on it, and I didn’t read the complete thread heading. I received the emailed link from Glock Store about the New V model and then I received the email from this Community with my questions on this thread and just shook my head. I was all out there in the weeds. But I’m reeled in now! My badd.
EDIT: I do have another question though…is anybody dumping their current supply of Glocks because of the new V models? I’d bet it’s definitely a buyer/s market now! I can only imagine what the resell value is going to be otherwise.
I’m still not happy with it, but hopefully Glock keeps making a good product that’s harder for bad people to modify. This just seemed really abrupt. Glock is not usually abrupt.
People complain about Glock not changing. I’m not really one of those people. I’m confident in how they were designed. It makes me more inclined to buy a clone of the original design. Glocks are $600 no optic cut. I can get an RXM for $400 steal sights and optics cut. BUT I still hope the new Glock products are decent and hopefully have improvements.
Glock has a lot of law suits, not just California. I don’t like it, but it may have been smart to get ahead of the issue.
Narp, my G30 isn’t going anywhere. ![]()
Exactly, the $200 you save can get you a good optic.
I bought another Gideon Omega(RMR) for $120, lifetime warranty, the first one is on my CZ, 590 rounds and still holds zero.
Hth
Well, this is a serious change, but what better time than now to make it happen?
