@Karacal That is very true, the G44 is extremely light. Everyone that has shot it has commented on the weight right away. The weight has also been one its problems for me personally, the trigger pull is heavier than the gun so when I am attempting to shoot a tight group or check accuracy at long range the weight can be a problem.
I have been using weapon lights like Streamlight TLR’s or Surefires on it to add a little extra weight out front.
I am glad you like it, I would be interested in hearing what you have personally experienced with yours such as accuracy, round count, etc, if you don’t mind. I would like to hear some positive reviews as I feel people are quick to point out the negatives on an item when it comes out and its then hard to get positive views available.
My brother has a Buckmark for his .22 trainer, he loves his as well, I have been thinking of getting the threaded barrel for my G44 but they are a little pricey.
@Aaron25@americanwolfman How’s the trigger pull compared to the gen 5 Glock? Would it be good for dry fire practice so that the carry gun wouldn’t to be unloaded every-time?
I think the G44 could be a good training supplement. I’m thinking when I take a gun gun to the range I could bring a g44 which lets me gets shots off with the same grip angle and feel as my carry gun at the end of the session. I also wouldn’t feel obligated to keep it as clean as my carry gun (I love shooting multiple guns at the range, but I hate cleaning multiple after).
I think all the glock trigger pulls are similar. I don’t know that dry firing a rimfire is recommended.
I think the dry fire mag is better for dry fire practice with a glock.
I think the Gen 5 Glock triggers are a little better out of the box then the Gen 3 triggers (I’ve never tried a Gen 4). I have no experience with the Glock 44 trigger though I have read that it was designed to be able to be dry fired.
The trigger on my G44 is a bit heavier than my 9mm Gen5’s even after 10’s of thousands of rounds. I use the 44 for draw practice, newer shooters and just fun plinking. I would say it is fine to dry practice with bit think you would be better served with a sirt or similar dry fire setup.
The choice is yours, I do love my 44 and am glad I own it, probably the most reliable. 22 semi auto produced. I have posted here on the forum about my model 44 if you feel inclined to give it a read
Thanks for the input. I’d like to get a .22lr handgun. The Glock would be ideal since it could be a training supplement. The hardest part for me is the price. Their are a lot of really fun .22s that are $100 cheaper than the Glock. If yhr G44 was $300 I’d already own it.
Do the Sirt guns really have the same trigger weight and break?
I’m going to look into this. I remember you talking about them on here awhile back. It’s just the price makes me think I could get a real gun for a bit more… but the appeal is it’s also not a real gun…
The other option you can go with is a DA hammer fired handgun with laser cartridge.
But you will never have a nice trigger pull. I came through it and found SIRT107 the best tool for home practice.
Price is not so bad, once you calculate how much you need to spend on ammo doing the same. It can be paid back in few weeks.
Hopefully you still have holsters from your M&P…
When I want to shoot a 22, I use my S&W model 63, Ruger Mark I or Ruger 10/22. The Glock 44 is overrated and too expensive. Sold the S&W 617 before I shot it.
Stating the 44 is overrated is a pretty bold statement. I own multiple. 22 pistols, the M&P full-size.22, Roger MK2 and some others and I can state clearly the Glock 44 is by a HUGE margin more reliable and transfers cheap practice to my regular Glocks better than a Ruger that I don’t own a holster for and is a complete different platform.
I will say to some the price may be a little much but I would never say it is overrated.
Everything’s I watch on the G44 is negative, but almost everyone who says they own one likes it. Any idea why that would be the case?
I’m debating between two .22s and this is one of them. I think it could be a good training aid to take to the range and a gun I don’t mind putting cleaning off after a range trip. But I see so many videos of people saying the adjustable sights are trash and it has a lot of ftfs.
