anyone have opinions on the ETQ Tournequets. I have CATs in our family vehicles, at home and in my backpack BUT the ETQ looks good for edc. It is not yet approved by CoTCCC (not sure it can be only being an inch wide).
Prep Medic made some videos. He seemed to like the gen 2. Still didn’t recommend it since it lacked data, but mentioned it’s probably better than no tourniquet.
In most cases, any of them is better than not having one. They all stop blood flow. It is about whether you can apply it properly. Which tourniquet can you apply quickly and properly?
This one works almost exactly like the CAT. Figure I’d be more familiar with it. I did look into the Soft-t, and it’s still significantly bigger than this one, and I don’t like how the self application works.
I get that, but I’m not going to edc a CAT regularly. I’ve thrown it in cargo shorts before. I do usually keep one in the car, but that’s not always close depending where I’m at and how I’m parked.
Well, thank God for that, the whole self-application thing. I hope you never have to either. Hey, it is worth a try to see if you like it. It is like different guns or ammo; you just have to try it.
Not familiar with ETQ. However, before the EMS/EMT or ER takes over, how often should we even remove the tourniquet if at all, and if so for how long before we re-apply it. One read to keep it on for two hours, loosen, then re-apply. However, it can be a critical decision, and be prepared to stop that bleeding.
Medical bandages are ideal. Keep some “Feminine Pads” in your IFAK. Apply non sticky side first.
GSW in the form of a bullet hole?:
Keep some “ Feminne Tampons” in your IFAK. Guys, you’ll need to practice. I’d probably remove it from the plastic and just push it in the wound but with the string side hanging out. Knew a patient for whom this worked when he had no other option.
Ordered one. Going to check it out, if it looks good (which it already looks legit to me) I’ll add it to my edc. It’s supposed to fit in mag carriers as well.
Again, CAT would still be my go to, but this looks good quality, functions just like a CAT (Velcro and then windlass). It looks very easy to carry. I have watched videos where it has legit worked. If for some reason this doesn’t completely stop the bleed, I’ll pack the would and apply pressure till ems arrives.
The more options you have the better off you and yours will be.
I also carry several QuikClot products and Israeli combat bandages
in multiple IFACs, bags, totes, and pockets wherever I am.
If I need compact, I still carry RATs and Ts.
