Bringing up the subject of gun ownership with dating

I agree with you on discussing things right away such as political party, 2A, etc. I would ask them where they stand on not only public safety but also on the right too own firearms. I have owned firearms before when I was democratic voter but in all honesty it isn’t even about the political party affiliation. It’s where the opinions lie on certain issues in politics. Back then I didn’t understand or see the validity and reasoning behind owning a firearm like the AR-15. I didn’t consider them a practical weapon for home defense.

But I also knew just as anybody else does that the right too own one doesn’t stop just because politicians think their appearance is scary and too militarized. A lot of the stigma lies in the fact that the uneducated think the civilian version is capable of fully automatic gunfire and it’s not true. If the prospective person I am dating tells me that they think public safety should include banning firearms from civilian ownership I will have my answer that she isn’t a woman i want too invest anymore time in dating.

I love hearing that. Too many people believe help is coming when they get into a tight spot. And while it may be, help rarely arrives in time to be of assistance.
Good on you for taking the initiative

I have too many people in my life whom I’m unable to convince they are their own first responder🤷🏼‍♂️

Fire arms and training are what my wife and I do, actually how we met.If I were dating a woman who looked like Gal Gadot and she was anti firearms…beat the bricks, rather have a ugly woman who can shoot and trains with me.Flag this one.

Dude, hope no one who knows you reads this forum. You like to live dangerously :joy::rofl:

Really surprised some f…stick didn’t flag it.

The flagging has gotten pretty silly.

Apparently our lovely f…stick flagging coward forgot about 9/11.

OK, I’ve Had It!!! I’m officially Flagging Myself. I feel uncomfortable with this post, it’s hurtful and divisive. I don’t feel Respected for who I am.

I’m here for you Brother Man, I flagged your post just for you. I can feel your pain. So here’s my attempt to save you. :kissing_heart::kissing_heart:

You’re welcome. :rofl::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::rofl:

Thank You Brother… I feel much better now. :smiling_face_with_tear:

You can casually say something like “I’ve got to buy some ammo.”
Or “XWZ has ammo on sale.” And see where that takes you.

With her I suppose you would have to.
But break-ups happen, I’m sure there are women out there who are gun owners and won’t ask that you give up your firearms.

The book is better

If she’s not good with guns, we can’t be together.

At least that’s where I’m at now!

Ex wife was okay with them, but kept leaning more anti gun before I left her.

GF after her was fine with guns!

Until we hit an impasse concerning her dogs,… (9+ Saint Bernards!)

Then my guns became an issue (tool for her to try and manipulate me through)

Fortunately the police saw through her bull$#!+

And when I had to take her to court to evict her from my property so too did the judge in that case!

Anyway,

As is with any relationship, you will need to make compromises.

For me at least, guns won’t be one.

#foreversingle

Not sure it is worth bringing up until things start to move toward serious.

Yeah I get that but the problem with that is if a person invests all that time it’s a total waste just to find out if the person they are dating is anti gun.

Some people will just never get it that we are our own first responder. If I lived out in a rural area I would rather have my gun then have too rely on waiting nearly 30 minutes for law enforcement to respond. That’s not good enough.

The books are ALWAYS better. Movies area condensed versions that only hit the high points while leaving out the valleys where many important parts of the story take place. For proof, pick any Tom Clancy Book that they made into a movie, read the book, then watch the movie and you’ll see what I mean.

While that is quite often the case, there are a good many people who say they’re anti-gun but in reality are just unfamiliar with guns. A good many of my acquaintances who claim to be anti-gun have actually purchased guns and in some cases obtain their concealed carry permit after spending time at the range and becoming familiar with the culture. They quickly learned the gun isn’t the bogeyman they’ve been led to believe.
Personally I’m willing to spend some time on an “anti-gunner“ if I believe there’s a slightest possibility a little time invested at the gun range will swing them over to our side.
