I am planning to buy an Ankle Holster for my 9mm, and after doing a lot of research, I’m now stuck between these two products. Both have great reviews, seem comfortable, and look suitable for concealed carry.
this one is also highly recommended for its strong quality and secure fit.
Now I am confused about which one would be the better choice in terms of comfort, grip, and long wear. If anyone has used an ankle holster or tried either of these products, please share your honest opinion. Which one should I go for?
I have #2 and gave it a try. However my EDC was much too heavy (P250 at the time) to make it practical. It did work well with a .22WMR Black Widow. It behaves differently depending on the trousers you are wearing - lightweight fabric tends to hang up and straigh leg jeans printed. Positive factor is that people don’t tend to look at your ankles very much. Drawing takes a lot of practice. Spare mags made it heavy and awkward.
A coworker of mine ordered an ankle holster, they sent him two,… so he gave me the extra….. it was some janky “one size fits all” nylon thing that actually worked fairly well at holding the guns i tried in it.
However the only gun that I could even consider wearing in it honestly was my Walther model 7!
I looked at #1 and knew right away what it was and for that matter Kydex drop leg holster would be better for that purpose. This one has too many wrapping here and there, snugging up everywhere. Just not a fan on wrapping up stuff.
IDK. Hope you find your set up. Good to weigh your options, no pun intended.
For some of the reasons noted above, I could not EDC ankle, but I obtained one such holster in case ever needed - but for smaller “arms”. The black, nylon elastic kind (similar to the two you posted/linked), easy to wash by hand.
I think it could work for smaller and lighter calibers, even a thinner profile with a smoother grip, as opposed to factory snagging rubber.
Everyone’s different. To date, I no longer have rubber grips, only smooth plastic or wood, nor external hammers on my hand-guns, as I used to have problems with snagging.
I might even suggest we should all have at least one ankle rig, could help for when driving, or if ever a SHTF or rare crisis scenario. To me, as a back up, but not primary CCW, whereas I tend to think of primary’s around the hip, midriff, or shoulder.
Thanks for the honest feedback, that really helps. Good point about weight, clothing, and printing. Sounds like ankle carry works better with a lighter compact pistol than a heavier setup. I will keep the spare mag issue in mind too.
I carried an Sig P365 in a Crossbreed ankle holster for a couple of years with no issues. Loose uniform pants though, not jeans. And 8inch boots so it didn’t slip down.
