When it comes to carrying a firearm, the comfort of wearing a holster is an essential consideration for both safety and practicality. Whether it’s for personal defense, law enforcement, or recreational shooting, the holster’s design, material, and placement play significant roles in determining overall comfort during daily wear.
Choose a holster specifically designed for your firearm model to ensure a secure and comfortable fit.
Opt for holsters with adjustable retention and cant to customize the angle and hold to your preference.
Wear a quality gun belt to distribute weight and keep the holster steady.
Consider holsters with sweat guards, padding, or breathable materials for improved comfort, especially in warm climates.
Test different carry positions and holster types to find the best combination for your body and lifestyle.
Holster comfort is a highly personal experience influenced by material, design, placement, and individual preferences. Taking the time to evaluate these factors and making adjustments as necessary ensures that carrying a firearm can be a comfortable and secure part of your daily routine. If it is not comfortable then you most likely will not be wearing it.
I am making a holster for my new gun, Glock 21, I have all sorts of adjustments and details I am working on to make it right. I am hoping it works well.
I use a Sneaky Pete holster for my Glock 17, which I can use with my Glock 17, could not be happier. Luckily I did have to go thru many holsters to settle on one.
I love my all leather Galco V-Hawk IWB but almost always opt to wear a breathable workout shirt between me and the holster.
I don’t need the extra shirt when I use my Black Arch Protos with padded “Dri-Matrix” backer. Unfortunately Black Arch does not make a holster that carries the gun I use the V-Hawk for.
I found the WE THE PEOPLE with a claw best for my P250 sub and the Alien Gear Tuck also reasonable… but I’m struggling with comfort for the P365XL with the T-Rex Raptor it came with… need to budget for another holster for the 365…
I’m very satisfied with my Universal Nylon holster bought on Amazon for $20.
Yeah, of course I’m kidding. Hopefully I won’t read something like this on this Forum anymore.
Safety and efficiency come first. Then comfort. How much comfort? As much as it doesn’t compromise safety.
That’s why I carry both methods - IWB and OWB.
Most times it’s AIWB, but whenever I wear jacket (zipper or buttons) I always go with more comfortable 10 o’clock OWB.
I am very happy with my universal leather holster I bought on Amazon for $20. I wet it up real good put my gun in a Ziplock over night. That is all I have been using last few months. EDC, USPSA and IDPA.
Then I misplaced my Crossbreed mini tuck for G43….
I bought another one,… and the first one magically showed back up!
So I gave him the new one….. that was 3 years ago,… he visited a couple weeks ago,… still wearing that holster!
When I went to Oklahoma for the eclipse, I only took my crossbreed minituck off to change my pants…. 4 day trip,.. 3 nights of sleeping in an RV with my pistol on my hip….
Suffice to say I like how comfortable my Minituck is!
OK.. I have to lower my expectations…
Hopefully nobody is carrying Amazon Universal Nylon holster for $10
What I know:
Everyone is the Master of their own life and health.
What I’ve learned:
Usually everything works… until is does.
What I understand:
Our lifestyle dictates the stuff we use and wear everyday.
The point is… it’s not about $20 or $5.. it can be even free…
I don’t care if such Universal holster was bought on Alibaba for $1 with free shipping… as long it doesn’t collapse and secure triggerguard
Meaning, this one is perfectly fine
I just use a trigger guard holster from gunners custom. I love it for appendix carry. Very small and comfortable since I spend a lot of time driving it seems.
I only wear kydex holsters. I just don’t like the passive retention that comes with leather, I like the click and confidence of knowing my firearm is secure.
Comfort can suck. I carry aiwb with a cushioned wedge. I like the 43x length because it’s short and doesn’t dig into me much compared the the 48/19 length.
I’ve got a crap ton of holsters… JM Custom Kydex has been a real win for me. I do want to try a Tier 1 side car, BUT I like to locK my gun up holstered and the side car set up is a bit big for my lock box.
i also hate getting a new holster because it have to loctite the retention screws and it can be a real pain for some holsters.
