All things Glock

Thought I would put this here to discuss all topics related to the Glock platform. I figured we could condense some of the information on this into one spot and if the mods would like to move anything to this spot that would be great.

As soon as I turned 21 I got a copy of my orders, went to a pawn shop just outside the main gate and bought a gen 2 glock 17 for $500.00, it came with the famous hard plastic case and two 10 rd mags, it was during those wonderful Clinton years ( being sarcastic) pre Monica blue dress time. And now thats all i own, fell in love then and still love them now (Glocks, not Clinton). With the exception of a WW2 1911 that was my grandpa’s, Glock is the only pistols I have in my safe and on my side.

My first Glock complaint. They COULD, if they tried really hard, make it a bit more difficult to remove the mag base plate… :rage: I needed a third hand, but got them all changed out.

thx @americanwolfman for this thread. :+1:

So my question again:

What is the actual difference between G19x and G45?

I’ll post pics in a little while but right now I can tell you that the main differences are the G45 has front cocking serations, the front of the grip is compatible with all generations of magazine where the 19x has a lip that prevents all magazines being used without changing the baseplate.

The 19x comes with a lanyard loop, Glock factory night sights, and a slightly extended and rounded magazine catch and of course it is in FDE.

Training day, got to go out and run 100rds of ball and 50rds more jhp through the 43x MOS today. Worked some draws, low ready and high ready and shot a few slow fire accuracy. Everything shot great and this pistol is getting better and better each time I get to train with it.

The G45 is like a Glock 17 Commander, G19 slide, G17 frame, plus the differences @americanwolfman posted. :grinning:

Thx for explanations.
Being 100% Glock nerd… from self-defense perspective G45 seems to be better option, having front serrations.
Is there any advantage using G19x over G45? Or is it opposite and G45 is better?

I acquired my 19x first and loved it but when the G45 hit the market I immediately knew that was the one, I now have 3 of them, 2 45 MOS’S and an iron sighted one. I feel and it is just my opinion that the 45 is better, can take any G17 mag, front serrations. My G45 is the softest shooting Glock I own.

Another nerd’s question… the numbering. Is it true that the number is the patent’s #? So it actually has nothing to caliber or particular model’s line?
So that would make G48 the latest model then…

Correct, the model numbers have nothing to do with caliber, and it has to do with the patent #'s
