43X, 48, or 19

I love my 45 MOS’s and my iron sighted one as well, I wouldn’t touch a Glock Gen4 9mm with a 10 foot pole, I have had like 6 of them, every single one had extraction and ejection issues. Now I have had large caliber Gen 4’s like the 20 and 21 as well as a couple of .40 cals and all ran flawless.

All manufacturers have their lemons, Glocks is just the Gen 4 in 9mm.

I like the idea of the 45.

Funny enough, the M&P 9 is basically the same dimensions. I think I just want a smaller grip for concealment. It’s tempting though, I’m trying to be patient and get what I really want.

Don’t wait too long…you may find your decision even harder with Gen6 … :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I still can’t get over Glock is the best but Glock guys say:

Gen 3 sucks because finger grooves and hard to reach mag release.

Gen 4 sucks because of ejection pattern and finger grooves (I’m not mocking @americanwolfman. I’ve seen this same statement on other forums).

Gen 5 sucks because slide release is to big and the cut out on the bottom of the gun causes hang ups during reloads.

It makes me happy with my M&Ps :joy::rofl:.

Everything I’ve read is the G45 is the best Glock. Because it actually fixes everything issue (except the slide release) Its just a little larger than what I want.

Not making fun of anyone here, I’m still looking for a Glock myself, I just find it humorous.

The newer Gen5 19’s don’t have the cut out in the front of the grip.

Glad to know this! That was my only real concern with the Gen 5

I don’t think any of those issues are really game changers. I don’t think the slide release will be an issue either because I’ve had to train around my Shield 45s slide release. It was finicky too, so I just throw my thin over the other hand now.

I’ll try and get a pic up of mine in a few min to show the grip

That’s one of my 19s and 45s, the front cutout was eliminated on the newer Gen 5s with the front cooking serrations. If you want to order a newer Gen5 ask for the FS model

I’ve seen some complaints from a couple Gen5 users about it not having the finger grooves they liked from the older generations;). People just like to complain. I will say that I have an M&P 22 that fits my hand like a glove as well as P365 that also fits like a glove. I have small hands and the Glock gen 3 fits my hand like a brick but I still shoot it noticeably better then the two better fitting options. The Gen 5s are a little thinner and fit my hand a little better. May have to get one some day.

If you are really thinking about Glock and want to be sure it has no issues, go with Combat Wilson Glock then. A little pricey, but you won’t complain about the tool.

I picked up a 19X today. It was really nice, I wanted to walk away with it. BUT I want a 19 size gun.

So I’m still on the fence between the G19 and the M&P compact. (One of those no right answer scenarios).

I’m not out as worried about point of aim at this point. What I like most about the idea of the M&P compact is it will take my holsters and mags that I’ve already dumped money into. There’s also not switching between platforms. If my M&P 9 is on HD duty, it’s still going to be virtually the same gun as the compact.

That being said, I think the quality of the Glock looks and seems better. I doubt the difference is huge. There are M&Ps that have been in service for extended periods of time. But the polymer seemed better on the Glock as silly as that may sound. It’s not a huge deal, because I don’t really baby my guns, but I definitely really liked the Glock. I also really like the aggressive grip texture for carry, but I’d prefer less aggressive against skin while carrying. Not a huge deal again. The grip on M&P becomes less aggressive on its own and it breaks in really nice.

I understand your position completely as I’m in the same boat but reversed. I have so many accessories and gear that I’ve dumped a ton of money into for my Glocks I can’t think about a new platform anytime soon.

I do really like the M&P line and still have a couple around that get regular use. Having tried both I have found that the Glock is a better and more accurate, consistent system for Me. I feel you will be very well served by either system and I personally would not feel undergunned with the M&P.

If accessories and gear replacement is a concern maybe stick with what you have, if you really want a Glock there are literally tons of options at your finger tips. If you aquire one and need some help with gear choice just ask.

I 100% agree with @americanwolfman , however I am in opposite position being addicted to M&P line.
Glock just doesn’t work for me the way I’ve been expecting.

Regarding @Scoutbob polymer complain… I don’t know how Glock is good with their plastic, but my EDC M&P9 came through almost everything… I never tested it in the oven or fireplace , but the material and parts survive all of extreme conditions I was testing it.
I cannot tell anything wrong but trigger about M&P 2.0 line.

It’s hard. I can try to fabricate a million pros and cons, but I won’t know what I’m gonna do till the money is gone, and no option is left :joy::rofl:.

I’m not sure if this is common, but the G19X did have a chipped magazine. That common? I’m used to my slick steel M&P mags.

Don’t quite know what you mean by chipped? I have seen molding marks but not chipped.

Looked just like this except the follower wasn’t jacked up. Didn’t look good though.

Those cut outs are normal. The jacked up follower is not, but can likely be easily fixed. The Glock mags have metal liners so the rough plastic parts should not affect feeding.

I really wonder how big a difference there is between the G19x (I really liked that gun. Something about FDE brings the tacticool out in me), and the M&P 9.

I know Glock 19 slide on a 17 frame may have been revolutionary for Glock, but the M&P9 that I’ve been carrying has the same dimensions essentially, just a slightly different grip angle.

Seems like your pretty set on the M&P, go with what you know at this point.
