IMO this is the way to do government mandated firearms training. Put it into schools. Doesn’t even have to include actual firearms, doesn’t even have to include handling something that resembles a firearm directly, but the information and being tested over information retention could certainly be standard curriculum

That’ll probably never happen. The trend is the reverse. Some folks are pushing to let non-citizens vote. Just today, Boston voted to lower the voting age to 16.
But I have long advocated that high schools should give the immigration test to their seniors before graduation. It wouldn’t be a requirement for citizenship or even graduation, but it would be a great way to refocus schools on civics. We use standardized testing for math and language skills as a way to grade school performance, but we don’t test schools on the civics, even though that’s the supposedly the reason public education exists.
At least he’ll still be able to vote.

When I was a young man of 30 something, I’m 65 now, I had the opportunity to sit down in a circuit court judges home with a cup of coffee and discuss his being pro gun control. After much civil debate back and forth I made the following statement.
The police, God bless the majority of them for what they do, are a reactionary Force. Seldom are they in a position to prevent a crime from happening and only show up on the scene after the fact when they are summoned. Judge; I reserve the right to protect myself and my family. If not me then who else is going to be there?
It was an argument he had no answer for. I don’t know that I changed his mind that day but my belief in the right of self-defense was secured by his inability to logically respond.

Yes!! The feather pen is now a computer, a state of the art muzzle loader is now a semi-auto firearm (and a deterrent against tyrants (Hmmm). The forth is still protection against unlawful searches and seizures on all fronts, a deterrent against tyrants. The 3d, 14th and on. I’m not big on the 16th amendment, however. WOW!!! I’m also against the militarization of police forces, of which NAZI Germany and dictatorships are famous for.

I would say that everyone is entitled to their own personal opinion and that the level of inflammatory rhetoric you are using is counterproductive. The gentleman explained his POV civilly.
While I disagree with his POV. I can respect him for posting his view on a forum that in the majority it’s inhabitants will have a distinctly different view.

. Of my remarks. 
I’ve had many, sometime heated, conversations with a couple of left far left thinkers I work with. What eventually became obvious was we agreed on many of the problems, Crime, Guns, Border, Same Sex, Spending, etc… Where we differed was they were convinced that the Government should have/take control and solve all of the problems where I am absolutely convinced that the Government not only created many of these problem that if they got more involved the problem would get bigger and worse.
Yes, mostly agree, as I do not agree with the entire Republican agenda and/or what those that are elected do while in office. However, I strongly disagree with almost the entire Democratic agenda and their politicians - especially when they strongly imply in emails that I am a criminal solely on the fact that I believe in our inalienable rights.
As to the clown issue, I don’t care one way or the other if the clown is “real” or not, but as to RINOs, yes, it definitely makes a huge difference as they are elected to offices that can impact my daily life. I don’t want to vote for someone that claims one thing while campaigning and does the exact opposite once in office.

LOL, meanwhile they gave Letters of Marque to privateers to outfit their ships with cannons and all other armaments they desired so as to attack British shipping. As to the “power of modern firearms”, I suspect they are not nearly as powerful as cannons back then. Take a look at this curass worn by a French cavalryman in 1815 (below).
They had just fought a war against the most powerful military in the world. I feel quite sure they understood the power of arms and the modernization of arms through the centuries. They were quite well aware of the current arms, such as the Girardoni air rifle (tube-fed, and at least as powerful as a musket), chain-fed handguns and long guns, “pepperboxes” and all sorts of other handguns and long guns that fired multiple rounds, whether all at once, one at a time, or were automatics. There were also cartridge-fed firearms back then, too.
That is not typically possible as one politician cannot effect change without the aid of a majority of other politicians. However, what I stated was doing the opposite of what they campaigned on.
Context of limiting government overreach does not change with technology.

I never followed politics until 2016, when it was thrust upon all of us. To my thinking, Trump lived up to many of his promises, but not all, largely because the wolves were nipping at his heels from the time he announced. I am still amazed at what he actually accomplished with the entire government and media in hot pursuit to bring him down.
That would’ve definitely left a mark.
