Where to begin

Greetings fellow instructors,

I’m new to the USCCA and, while I’m excited to be a part of the community of instructors, I am however, finding it confusing navigating the seeming many different webpages and links. I happen upon things without clearly knowing how I got there, poke around a bit thinking I can return only to find I can’t back to the page; Not easily repeatable. I suppose it takes some time persuing the portals and sites if you have the time or a quicker study than myself. Has anyone else had this experience? To me, there are far to many different nessecity links to get up and running as quickly as I expected. Any suggestions? Or, if you don’t mind phone calls…I’m at 410 999 5542. HELP!

  1. Have this discussion with your Training Counselor who taught you the CCHDF Instructor Class.
  2. Let us know your name or USCCA Instructor Number so we can look at your Instructor page.
  3. Look at the USCCA Pages for other instructors to see the many decisions on how to populate yours. (you can see mine at https://tinyurl.com/dcs-trains Right now yours is essentially empty.
  4. Share with us why you became an instructor and whether you want to run a full business.

good luck!

Mainly two, besides the social platforms of the “community” and the “blog;” training opportunities are at the “Protector Academy” and your state gun laws and Reciprocity with other states is at the Reciprocity Map and laws site. They complement each other with what information they have to offer.

Deepening on what you are looking for:
The technical know-how aspects for being a protector, or the legal aspects of your state or the states you visit.

There is a lot to be had via both.

I’m having somewhat of the same experience in perusing the website. It has not been easy to go back to a page I was on. Can’t seem to find it sometimes.

I experienced that on the FCC’s website for GMRS licensing. I finally found the info I needed; tons of trial and error, time and luck. But it’s not a weekly or daily site visit, just once about every 10 years for license renewal.

Maybe time and your personal experience will be your remedy. Persons differ in their ability with such tech and that’s OK, but the good news is - it gets easier.

Hello Craig,

Thanks for the response. My name is Terry and instructor number is #3888094. Of course you already know page is empty for now. The loss of a loved one and news of too gun involved tragic events peaked my interest in getting properly trained and from there I caught the bug. I didn’t know that I didn’t know and the more I learned I thought I could make a difference in helping reduce gun related accidents as well as help innocent, law abiding citizens excersize their rights in protecting themselves from predators. I like the layout of your page, by the way.

Hello Kathy! Yes it’s a bit frustrating navigating the various sites. It would be nice if everything we needed was all in one place but, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Perhaps we’ll just stay in touch, keep learning and sharign information?

Craig, by the way, I forgot to answer one of your questions. The answer is absolutely YES, I would love to stick and stay and build this into a fullblown business.

Hello Frank - I’m a pretty good shot and an even better teacher. I have taught individuals with zero experience get over their fears and anxiety about firearms and I’m not so bad speaking to groups. I feel like I just need someone to help with the advertisement, schedule and all that backroom stuff and I just show up and do my part, whether its hands on 1on1 training or presenting to a group. LOL…I’m more afraid of the technical stuff than I am the firearms, if that makes sense. :smile:

@Terry226 and @Kathy31
There is a USCCA Instructors category on this forum, limited access to Instructors.
I’d like to go into more detail with you on that forum.
Please post on that forum, so I know you have access. Once we are all there I will dive into some tips and adivoce I think will help.
If you cannot get to that Category, contact the Forum Admin to have USCCA Instructor added to your profile.

In the meantime, welcome to the world of instructors and Happy New Year.

Craig, can you popped the link to that site in this thread? If I already have access the link should take me there.

@Terry226 & @Kathy31 ,
At the top left of the Community Page is a drop-down menu for categories. Click on that and scroll down to find USCCA Instructors, clicking on that.
If your profile has been updated to show your instructor status, you will have access. If blocked, contact a Community Admin to be updated.

(Good morning, welcome aboard, and good luck with all that.

I’m 74 years old, retired, had a stroke.

So, I’m out of the active labor market loop.

Being a self and family defensive protector is my retirement responsibility, hobby / gig.

My backroom support role is keeping my medical appointments straight, my space and life declutter, and end-stage family engagement.

I would highly recommend contacting USCCA Instructor Support, and see what they have to offer, or recommend.

Happy New Year.

I was a Certified American Red Cross Safety Programs Instructor-Trainer (meaning I thought others to become instructors): Advanced First Aid & Emergency Care / EMT, CPR life support, and Water Safety & Rescue Programs.

So, I appreciate the logistics that are needed to support any instructional endeavors.
