Yes, although they don’t have the same meaning. There are times when they cannot be interchanged. Small is a clothing size little is little.

These words describe completely different actions and get different consequences. These are not even interchangeable.
People got used to say “kill” as a “master word” describing an action or outcome, but in some cases it’s wrong and unclear what the intensions were .

in the older dictionaries it was listed as a synonym for murder… they were at one time interchangeable
and the consequences were the same… but that is in the past…
those old dictionaries are difficult to find now…
there is a old book title “Who Killed Cock Robin” it is a murder mistry
all through history words and their meaning change… sometimes from generation to generation…
and even within the same generation… dude that’s killer, dude that’s rad… etc…
slang usage… words original meanings can become used as an opposite meaning etc…
does anyone use the word slay anymore??? or even such as many were slain…
ya I’m old… but I remember grade school stuff… and reading the old dictionary the school had…
early 50’s n such… yep used as a master word sounds about right… definition changes happen often…

I think in the context of this topic, the line between self-defense and murder have to be very clear to the responsibly armed American.

Well it depends how technical one wants to get and how far we want to derail this topic. Murder isn’t self defense because it’s not. Oh I give up.

If anyone is asking me for my opinion I will tell you straight.
Having a ridiculous Wordsmith game here on a serious subject like this is wasting time and could stop from helping some Newbie who may really wish to know WTF we think on this. I come here to play, unwind and relax this has been my goal from day 1. But as the Sh!t is being moved in front of Fans all over the World with blaldes a turnin’ I believe in NOT WASTING ANYMORE TIME.
Self Defense or murder CANNOT be explained away in a few sentences. Like Life each case will be JUDGED on it’s Merits/Mistakes.
MOO! If you are living in the moment (and not in your phone or computer) you have a better chance at engaging Situational Awareness and holding it to see issues before it goes code red. I believe you make more mistakes (firing, defending when you shouldn’t, or responding from fear that you over due the response to a threat) THAT is when people start floating MURDER, MANSLAUGHTER etc into your situation.
I pray we right this country’s ship BEFORE the fan explodes— Then it could get real and we might be left dangling on our own and that is a very lonely feeling man I’m here to tell you.

I would think that kill and homicide had the same meaning with respect to humans. Either one could or couldn’t be murder, but at the same time a human died from the action.
