What's your workplace's firearm policy?

It is… there used to be a specialty patch set as well a couple of years ago:

But I don’t think we have those anymore. Shoot me a private message @_Robert!

I can not even have a knife with a blade longer than 3" at work

So when I go into the office the sidearm has to stay locked in the car.

I would be sent home by security and then fired by my employer.

I’m sitting at my desk looking at two rifles and five handguns with a hideagun under the desk.

Being self employed has it’s advantages. Trouble is the boss is a slave driving ass.:joy:

If you find any more of the “Proud American Gun Owner” and/or “I’ve got your back” patches laying around I know someone that would happily give them a good home.

Careful there. I don’t know the state, but if it is an “at will” or if you have no contract spelling it out, legally an employer can fire you for any or no reason, as long as it is not protected class motivated. You COULD be fired for owning a Chevy, just because the owner prefers Fords. You could be fired for having a weapons permit simply because the owner’s personal preference and/or his/her UNDOCUMENTED view of the business is anti-gun. Not saying it’s right and not saying it would happen without discussion or warning, but it could and it would be defensible.

I work in a Target Rich Environment (aka Hospital) so, immediate termination and arrest. I hate it, but love my job. Rock:me:Hard-place. I have over 20 years invested here, so not likely to change.

I just snorted coffee… Gotta clean my monitors and KB now. Thanks much, @WildRose.

Not quite. They would have to show some reason. Otherwise it’s wrongful termination. Not that they don’t do it, and then pay the lawsuit.

Automatic Termination if a weapon is discovered. Including knives. However, 90% of employees carry knives. Firearms are extremely prohibited. And for 5 years now, I’ve carried everyday. What is not seen, is not proven to be on my person. We routinely hire felons and we have had occasional physical altercations. My life, and my Wife’s life,(She works here too.), is more important than a job, even one I have had for 5 years.

I used to work for myself as well, but I got a regular 9-5 because my boss wanted me to work 24/7.

Mine had us sign a paper that we wouldn’t bring weapons on the property. Guess they think criminals will sign it and not bring any. SMH…

Welcome to the Community, @Freddie!

Does your workplace sign follow state law (if any) that say what a sign should look like?

Here at my place of employment we are not allowed to carry a firearm on the property or company vehicles. You have to sign a weaver which states the company at anytime can search the company owned vehicles. We are not supposed have knives as well, but several employees have them for cutting open boxes. However, Under state law they cannot search my personal vehicle! Therefore I still carry to work for my life is more valuable to my family and myself. There are more jobs out there.

What state are you in, @Rob71? How can they search your vehicle without consent or probable cause? (or are they saying it’s probable cause?)

sorry that was a typo. they cannot search is what I meant to type there. Sorry! for the confusion.

That makes MUCH more sense! Thanks for the clarification, @Rob71.

It’s actually pretty easy to fire someone. Put a bullseye on their back and make every mole hole a mountain! A couple written warnings for some obscure policy infraction that’s selectively enforced, third strike and your out. Where I work, that can all be done in 2 weeks time, for anyone. And I’ve seen it multiple time for politics reasons. That said, we are posted on the building, no weapons with a picture of gun and knife. I saw an exec have a small pocket knife on his belt, but no incidents with us common folk.

@Brian1 - That is because he was not apart of the little people carrying the knife…lol
