I’ll have to research the steels they all use. I only buy folders with certain steels.
This is my everyday carry
Oh, you will like the steel!! Cryogenically treated AUS 8 on most. My EDC is 3 months old and still shaves paper. Never put it on a steel yet.Do the research… you wont be sorry.
That’s what my son settled on, until I could get him a the off grid. Very good knife. Check out the features on the legal eagle (off grid) and compare prices. Love mine. Glass breaker built in also.
I make fixes blade knives so I get really picky. Normally I only buy cpm 154 steel knives.
Is that a folding knife, Damon? And what brand is it?
@Dawn yes it’s a folding knife made by Steel River.
@Dawn here’s better picture of it
Thanks! I googled them: Knives | Steel River Co.
The prices are really decent compared to what I’ve seen on other knives. Does the blade stay sharp?
@Dawn I just hardly touch the blade and it cut my knuckles, so yes it is still sharp.
Buck Folding Hunter No 110
That’s why I don’t always carry a knife - I’m very good at hurting myself with one.
I need to practice more with my knives.
There’s so many great blades out there you just have to find one that’s good for what you intend to use it for and stick with it. I primarily use mine for on the job use cutting electrical tape, trailer tape, cardboard, just a few things that I need it for and I also have a straight blade (razor) that I keep on me to cut what I don’t use my knife for.
Yeah my hands are full of scars, including when I took of part of my palm with a hatchet. Like a 1inch wide x 2 inch long chunk. After doing enough stupid stuff I figured out knife safety lol. I honestly think autos are safer than a lot of other options. I have a few that I would recommend in anyone wants to PM me.
@James yeah I have a scar where I was cutting through some wires with a straight edge and almost lost use of my thumb if I had went another mico-millimeter deeper according to the emergency room doctor. Not to mention all the scars on my fingers and hands from different blades that I have cut myself with since I was a kid working on the farm.
@Dawn if you use kitchen knives a lot you should be safe since you already know about watching what you are doing while using a knife for chopping and cutting.
Yeah, if I acted as stupid with guns as I do knives I wouldn’t be alive. I’m getting smarter as my hands feel all sorts of messed up when it gets cold because of the scar tissue. You’re also not a 20 some odd year old dude, so you have that going for you. Lol. Get a knife. It’s the original tool that separated us from the animals.
@James Amen brother!! So very true indeed!! We were very dumb when we were young and have the scars to prove how stupid we could be.
My sons are almost 20 and they both use knives on a daily basis at work.
I know my boys aren’t angels, but some things a mom doesn’t want to think about - like all the dumb things boys do.
It was almost exactly a year a go I got a text from the hospital when one of my boys cut his thumb at work… it was the first time he was in the hospital that he didn’t need me there. He was kind enough to send pictures. Gross!
