Situational awareness should be a priority in all situations. Try to stunt the approach with an aggressive, firm verbal tone. Try to verbally de-escalate the situation while remaining calm yet ready to react as required to a potentially escalating situation.

Well if I’m walking to my car. Hoping I’m close to it . They are approaching. I get to the other side of car. Raise my hand and yell. Get Back. Stop. My other hand is going to go rest on my pistol that is now hidden behi d me. “Said stop”. Don’t come any closer.. they are drunk. Trying to convince me he needs something and stops but starts approaching again… Mr. I can’t help you now get back, go away…just as my gun is now at my side… I want him to know I mean biz. Never pointing just that he can see… he gets pissed off and goes back to his car… I jump into mine and leave. Actually happened.

How are you doing now? Did they ever catch the guy that shot you? Did you find out what gun and caliber your assailant used? Thank you for willingness to share what happened to you. It reminds us all that it can happen to anybody anytime, no matter how confident we are in our situational awarenesses. It’s a crazy world filled with crazy people.

Immediately draw my weapon. Early bird gets the worm. Besides in Nevada it’s a stand your ground state and at that point I already feel threatened for my life, approaching me screaming for money. I don’t know if he’s high on drugs and how desperate he is and if I have my kid with me and I die god knows what happens then and I’m not willing to risk that. SO, depending on how close he already is say he’s already right up on me about to grab me I’m drawing and smoking him. If he’s at a distance he will get as many commands of piss off until he’s close enough to where I don’t feel comfortable then he’s dusted. Lets say he did pull out a weapon, well that’s why I already drew first just in case he has something I’m not waiting around to find out who’s that fastest draw.

Ok Karacal, I’ve been a member of this organization for 3 or 4 yrs now. I started carrying a gun as a single mom back in 1995. Knowing our safety was up to me. I own a 9 mm, a 1911 45, an AR 15 and a semi auto shotgun made in Turkey. I’ve never had to use it, thank God. I live just north of FFW airport, I’m part of Denton County Cert, and America-Free group. My boys are grown with their own families now. I hate seeing the way our country is heading and hope I’m able and ready if ever the times comes to do my part to help defend my community, the Constitution , our Country and our freedoms. I know I’m too small and not the best equipped to go it alone, but I’m here if the time ever comes.

Good to hear from you Katherine21. My wife and I have good memories from Texas, good friends we still keep in touch with (we retired in northern Minnesota) over the years and visit there, I have a Texas License To Carry - just to make sure - having a LTC allows for more protection than just Constitutional Carry.

I would tell em that I no longer carry cash as everything is done digitally these days.

I would use my command voice while scanning all 360° and tell em to back off.

if they persist I would move to a defensive display while entering my vehicle. In Arizona the car is an extension of castle Doctrine.

anything further in a threatening manner could end up in a really bad day.

I am 5’10 but about 150 lb and almost 60. I consider anyone larger than me as a threat in this situation. I live in Texas. I will stand my ground and determine if I fear for my life. I would tell stop.
I will try to get in my vehicle first of course but if that’s not an option I will defend.

I would turn my right side away from him draw my gun keeping it out of sight and determine his intent.
