Am I the victim being attacked and legally armed? Or am I a legally armed witness? The aggressor threw the victim to the ground. Also the victim was apologetic about something we didn’t see before the attack. According to what I see in the video, deadly force is not necessary. Get up off the floor and call 911. Once the aggressor walks away the attack has ended.

First a few basic Close Quarter Self Defense Skills could have changed the way this occurred, that said. At on point the attacker looked like he may have been choking the guy on the ground, that could very well be lethal. Depending on a lot of things, I would think “HEY MFer, Get Away From That Man”, followed by a roundhouse to the side of the head if he continues to choke the guy… after that, it’s chaos, the fog of war if you will.

If I am suppose to be in that situation and answering the question, I need a whole lot more information on what I did and said and what he did and said to even begin

Agreed, however, the guy on the street could see that there was clearly an obvious attacker and an unquestionable victim. SO, with the info presented and a second to decide, what would one do? (I’m asking you this one because I’m certain, with your background, you’ve had to make the one second decision a time or two.)

Call 911 and be a good witness. Stay on the scene in case things get out of hand. Thats just me. You Know, I have been retired 19 years and still think like an LEO. I guess that is what has kept me alive all these years. But the grace of God comes first.

It didn’t seem like there was enough time for anyone to do anything. It was over before it started. If I was close I could get between them and try to talk sense into the aggressor.

I agree but you didn’t answer the question. Could you handle the ire coming your way? A man that pissed doesn’t care who he takes his ire out on. The closest I would get is the max effective range of my OC then only with 911 on the phone too.

It was difficult to tell from the video but it seemed he truly cared about his daughter. Why not himself. For the sake of argument; if he winds up in jail he isn’t doing anybody any good.
