What would you do if you had no self-defense tools?

You have to report for jury duty and that means no firearms or knives.

The courthouse isn’t in the best neighborhood and parking for jurors is a three-block walk away from the courthouse.

Knowing that you’ll be unarmed, you start making plans for how you’re going to stay safe. Those plans include…

Call to the court when notified that I need help getting from the parking lot to the court house and back

Solid unarmed combat training, carry the bare minimum needed for the day ( i.e. ID and one card. No cash or bulky wallet that is obvious in your pocket.) and be highly aware of your surroundings.

Get dropped off at the steps by a (pick a family member/friend etc.). Drive to a parking garage in a better section and Uber or Taxi in (it should be refundable as will the parking garage fees). That failing, dress like a bum and argue with yourself for the three blocks it takes to get there. Not even criminals screw with crazy broke folk. As always pay attention to your surroundings.

The same as when we travel abroad. A tac-pen, and a roll of quarters.

That is awesome! When I was in college working in Philly I learned this trick if someone seemed interested in you. Random screams at people who aren’t there tends to keep even the unsavory away from you.

I haven’t tried but it would probably get you dismissed from jury duty!

I once saw a juror get passed over by saying “my next semester starts in two weeks, so we gotta either hang this guy or let him go.” I can’t recommend anyone try that stunt, but it made me laugh.

Tactical pens, E2D Defender flashlight and The Matrix Style of learning Ju-Jit-su or G10 belt hidden push daggers, or anything else that can’t be detected by metal detectors!
I love the Tourette Syndrome disorder thing, but I have a feeling a good judge will see right through that. These days, during voir dire, just tell them you voted for Trump, I’m sure you’ll be ejected immediately!
The unintended consequences could be expulsion from your states jury roster, FOREVER!

The greatest “weapon” we have is our “mind”. Having a firearm or a knife doesn’t make us “armed”. Here are a few options that could be used in this scenario:

  1. Wait for others and walk with them as a group.
  2. Have someone else drop you off at the courthouse.
  3. Drive up to the courthouse and ask if one of the deputies can provide an escort. Worst they can say is “no”.
  4. Carry only essential items: ID, small amount of cash, phone. There’s not a lot to do there.
  5. Maintain your Situational Awareness.

I would wear a full face mask that is black, Black jacket, black pants, dirty shoes, sun glasses and walk like I am going to a fight. That way nobody would notice me in Seattle.

Make a tool out what ever I could find know how to service is the biggest step, willing to do what take to protect your love ones is far more important they bowing down to anyone who dears to take your freedom and life. Self defense classes are a great start and servilely training will help but when time comes do not delay or you will lose.

A friend of mine who has long gone on to his just rewards was being questioned in court under oath, the lawyer kept badgering him “Just a Yes or a No Mr. XXXX” My friend was a slow talking southern gent who did not speak in one word sentences.

“Sir, as I understand…”
Just YES or NO!!!
“As I was saying, I believe …”
JUST YES OR NO! ANY Question can be answered by a YES or a NO ! What is your answer?

My friend looked at the judge. " Ma’am I cannot answer that question with a yes or a no answer due to the circumstances. However, I would like to ask the gentleman that has been yelling at me a yes or no question if you please."

Judge “You may.”

“Sir? Does your mother know you are still a pedophile?”

Lets just say the lawyer in question had a really bad day.

Something we’re taught in the military is to always maintain situational awareness and weapons of opportunity. Basically, just about everything and anything can be used as a weapon when the need arises. It’s something you have to practice but as your’e walking around pay attention not only to your surroundings but what can be used as a weapon. Empty bottles, rocks, or carrying a magazine that you’ll read but can roll up tightly to use in a self defense situation when you find yourself unarmed.

This will be especially useful if I encounter a bad dog. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

On the contrary. Why else would I know how useful a rolled up magazine can be?

Carry a quarter full liquor bottle ( perhaps tea ) spill some water on your crotch & down your leg. Wear old clothes. Should keep you out of trouble & get you removed from jury duty. All good

Make sure I pay extra attention to my surroundings, wear a belt and carry a hardback book. Ever get hit with the spine of a hard back book? Belts are great defensive weapons against bats, etc. Of course having the proper training with them as well.
