100% agree @Michael7.
And today, in Missouri, what action do we take?
Just last month Governor Parson met with the city leaders from St. Louis, KC, Spfd, Jeff City and Columbia. I watched this very carefully because the topic was gun violence (their term). I fully expected red flag laws to come up but they didnāt. There was talk about allowing each city to enact their own gun control measures but that didnāt get to far. Still, they got their time with the political leaders so we must remain vigilant . For Missouri we still have the votes but for Virginia itās an entirely different ballgame.
I joined this specific thread to express what I would do if ātheyā come for my guns. It is a serious question that is worth discussion. Thank you for your thoughts and shared experiences. Humor also helps. My state of Virginia can be a flashpoint if misguided laws are implemented. Folks are very upset. I hope they went out and voted in November and will do so this coming year. I cast an informed vote each and every election. I will take the appropriate steps to protect my loved ones, property and freedom. Canāt do any of that if Iām dead or incarcerated for being a hot-head.
It may work out best if they didnāt vote in Novemberā¦ and now they see the consequences and are awake. That way they will vote in the next cycle, very clearly and deliberately on the issues.
And that is an extremely important point.
My take is like what a lot here have said: Prepare in advance and see it coming. We already fear that this is going to happen to us or our country. I argue that tyranny like that will not happen in all 50 states overnight, and that it will be an exceptionally daunting task for federal and state law enforcement to undertake, should they even be willing to do so. There are a total of 1 million law enforcement and military personnel. Its unlikely they will be staffed or compliant enough to pull something like that off, especially quickly enough for people to be blindsided.
Since we will see it coming, and do, precautions could be in order. From my perspective, I am doing everything I can financially to literally bug out of my state if tyranny comes to it. Get out of debt, pay off your responsibilities and have some money stashed. Find a state that loves the 2A and go there, or plan to go there if SHTF.
Additionally, once youāve found that state, find a way to legally transfer your firearms in storage to that state. Maybe just half. Its much easier to comply when theyāre only taking a percentage of what you have, and the rest of it is across state lines. They come, take your 5 guns, and you prepare to leave where you have the other 10.
Is there a time to take a stand? Sure, but I think that will be obvious once we hear more and more about the 3am raids. That crap starts going down, then I think thatās when you will start to see people saying enough is enough and start meeting in taverns a la pre-Revolution style, rather than talking about it on the internet.
Regarding the withholding of utilities or just flat out freezing your bank accounts until you comply, that is also unlikely to happen (in my view). You can only do that to so many people before people start coming for the government (individuals responsible and their respective soft targets), especially if you feel you have nothing to lose. I believe the government wants compliance over conflict.
I like @Zeeās approach: Get involved if you can. If youāre passionate enough to stand up to tyranny, then we need to be passionate enough to stand up before it gets there.
Someone has to be the first to take that stand (and will most likely pay for it with their life). I know one or two people that are willing to be that person.
Thatās too dang funny!
If that happens it wonāt happen en-masse right out of the gateā¦ itāll be a person here and there, then a city or county will do it in small waves. Most people will simply be glad it wasnāt them. Some will be relieved it wasnāt them today, but will get it could be them tomorrow. Most arenāt going to get it. And if ātheyā boil us frogs slowly, I donāt know how that comes out.
Things like Bundy Ranch give me hope that people will stand up for others even when they are at greater risk for doing so. It tells me that real people are still willing to do that here, even when there are militarized forces that must be faced.
@DBrogue exactly. Or their freedom.
I have always heard this from the old timers.
If you believe its the time to bury them, then its really the time to use themā¦
My personal opinion is That itās an accumulation of the politicianās non constitutional and illegal actions that are a danger to our Country and American citizens. Along with anti gun laws, one has to consider how devastating open borders, attacks to our freedom of speech, socialism, and the continued attempts to overthrow a president elected by the people!
It never entered my mind that anybody living in the United States of America would be offended by the American flag, the Pledge of Allegiance, or fear āthe right of the people to keep and bear Arms.ā God Bless America!
Not a problem. Our forefathers didnāt have any money either. Need I say what they did haveā¦
Iāll keep this short Jeff. If gun confiscation, aka civil war, occurs (e.g. swat team at your door), going to court is the least of your worries. USCCA will not be a viable option.
Do not move your firearms to a different location. You will need them.
@Patrick47 Thank you for your concern brother. Above all, I will protect my family. They are my most precious assets. I can clear a hot AO with a little help. Hope our community is willing to help others if this turns into a furball. I pray Iām not part of the problem.
Wild Rose, Like you, I am also aged.
I agree with your thought, they will not push us to make this decision. My weapons are for self defense against predators and terrorists.
I would never react, to our law officers or government.

I believe there is a hierarchy of laws, with Natural Rights (some might say God given rights) at the top. When government passes laws in conflict with Natural Rights, I disagree that it is our civic duty to comply. Not if we value liberty.
Iām here just out of curiosity since I donāt own any firearms. I stopped boating just because of that, but since Iām also broke Iāve not been able to restock, so Iām currently just an observerā¦ I do own several garden tools that look funny, but itās because I love having a pretty-looking house, thatās itā¦
