Missouri is very gun friendly. Ous legislative members are pro gun. Good thing for them. We’d vote em out otherwise.
I’m stuck in Minnesota. Duty to retreat state. I’m pretty sure the ding dongs in our government here have no clue how self defense situations actually play out.
@Rachel I’m pretty sure you’re right… not enough reality behind the laws, and benefit of the doubt going to the aggressor. Bad combination.
to interject - whether I am carrying or not, I drive over to Iowa and then head south to avoid Illinois. It sounds like a pain in the butt, and to some extent it is, but it’s less painful than driving through Illinois. I’m still kinda stuck if I’m heading anywhere east though.
I agree with you on that, @Derrick!
I love my Kentucky laws. Constitutional carry, open carry, civil and criminal immunity if weapon is used lawfully in self defense, stand your ground, castle doctrine and We recognize all other states CCLs, shall issue permits.
And we allow on duty off duty and retired LEOs from any state to carry at all times and all places except correctional facilities.
Hands down, Alabama.
We have the highest per capita of concealed carriers of any state in the nation by a fairly substantial margin.
Open Carry. 2a protected by a las, that requires any law that infringes upon the Second Amendment to pass “Strict Review” by the Judiciary. Strict Review is the most Stringent review under the Judiciary.
Over 20% of our population conceals carry, gun free signs do not carry the force of law. You can carry in a restaurant, bar regardless of how they make their money.
We have Constitutionanal Open Carry at 18.
Their is no training requirment for CC. Though you can get all the training you want.
Other than Birmingham metro area crime has trended down steadily (we do have some gang problems and it’s a major sex slavery and drug highway we have 3 Interstate’s.
We have 1/8 the population of California, yet we have 8 times the number of concealed carriers.
We have state preemption, and protection from civil liability if we have a successful claim of self defense, no duty to inform, Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground.
Plus I am pretty sure we are like the Vikings of old, that when a child was born of Vikings the first thing they did was put an axe in their hand, well we do it with guns

I think @Zavier_D has some loose gun laws, my buddy DJ told me he got his Concealed online and I was like that is not legal but its legal in Bama…
Louisiana has some pretty loose laws—
Check them out
https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/resources/ccw_reciprocity_map/la-gun-laws/
rewriting that as:
Louisiana has some better than most everywhere else laws…

I NEEEEDD your constitutional carry law!
Wanna trade ?

Dad taught me to never trade down…
Sounds almost exactly like Idaho, so I wouldn’t say ‘Hands down’. But we will gladly share the top spot with the great state of Alabama, and welcome all other states to climb up on the podium with us.
We have 22% of our population as CC vs 7ish% for Idaho.
Pretty sure Alabama wins.

An Alabama joke.
Why do they not put people from Alabama in horror movies?
Because if the serial killer yelled Alabama, Alabama residents are genetically required to yell out “ROLL TIDE…ROLL”.
Secret
edit: We also suck at hide and sneak , same reason.
Yes, but the thread is about which states have the best carry laws, not how many citizens have permits. Your laws sound almost identical to ours. Plus we have had open carry since statehood, have constitutional concealed carry, and have a large number of citizens carrying without seeing the need for a permit. Trust me, way more than 7% of Idahoans are carrying daily, at least in the northern part of the state where I reside. Either way, I’m proud of both our states, and all the states that protect the rights of citizens.
That’s a good principal!
Like my grandpa said, “Save & pay cash!”
How much is it worth too you?
Everything has a price has price!
[Of course not a human life or those we love/ See I can’t even enjoy a joke without conviction lol I had to come put this on the end]
Soooo what we talking 1 mill 2 mills? three?
Precisely the reason I avoid Il on my bikes-not worththe hassle. When I HAVE to go to Il, it’s in a truck, with a secure metal “lock box” installed where the piece can go if necessary. Even then, I worry about what happens if an accident occurs and the vehicle is disabled? Frankly I’d rather just go south before going west and bypassing Illinois.
This sounds a lot like me
I totally agree. I happen to Rida a Gold Wing and have places to store the weapon. National reciprocity is the ticket, but when within the state you have a county or city pushing back, we can’t get them all on the same sheet, there is no way it will happen nationally. I wish our license was for 15 years at the price we pay in California compared to others. I pay 3 times as much, if not more for a 2 year license than I do for the other out of state licenses I have and they are 5 years each.
