I had to look it up. I was curious to the high levels of gun sales in my state, Washington, of how many people have their conceal carry license. At first, I was surprised that Washington State had a higher percentage than Texas and Arizona, but I realized later that they do not have to apply for a conceal weapon license.
Washington state has between 10 and 14% of the population with Conceal Carry license. We are also an open carry state too so, there is that.
Now Colorado, Iowa, Indiana, Alabama, and Georgia, are recorded to be above 15% of the population has a license. * Alabama has the highest concealed carry rate — 32.5%. Indiana is second with 23.4%, and Georgia is third with 15.5%. Six states now have over 1 million permit holders: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Florida is the top states with 2.57 million permits. The more restrictive state like California has 2% or less including New York, and New Jersey.
Twenty-five states have Constitutional Carry for their entire state, meaning that a permit is no longer required. Because of these Constitutional Carry states, the nationwide growth in permits does not paint a full picture of the overall increase in concealed carry. Many residents still choose to obtain permits so that they can carry in other states that have reciprocity agreements, but while permits are increasing in the non-Constitutional Carry states, they fell in the Constitutional Carry ones even though more people are clearly carrying in those states.
sales for AR-15-style rifles and all guns spiked dramatically during the Covid Pandemic so that number is likely closer to 23 million today. * An estimated 1.4 million guns were sold monthly between January and May 2023.
In 2022, approximately 17.4 million guns were sold in the United States. This is about 12% fewer than in 2021.
And for those who just have to have a picture to be able to read a post here you go!
Why doesn’t she have a magnifier on both rifles? That’s just stupid.
Why does she have jeans on? That’s just stupid
I can’t believe Todd lets his girlfriend wear sunglasses, that’s stupid!
Okay, I’ve spit out my drink three times in a row! Stop it!
I live in Maryland. AS of today those who have a HGP aren’t restricted much according ot law.
No legal deference with concealed or open carry.
BUT as of 1 OCT Bad news.
2023 Regular Session - Senate Bill 1 First Reader (maryland.gov)
On the other side:
Hawaii: 0.02%
New Jersey: 0.01%
And I’m guessing the majority of those few people are cops, judges, prosecutors, rich/famous, or otherwise connected in a special way such that normal people are effectively 0%.
The disparity is pretty crazy.
Grass looks overgrown, that’s just stupid.
'She has sunglasses on?
I didn’t notice…
“She should trim her bushes then!”
I’ll help!
I’m wondering how many of us read @Todd30’s post before jumping to the picture…
“What Post?”
Ok ok, I did my homework. Is there a quiz? All kidding aside. @Todd30 get a great job putting that together, definitely some eye opening numbers. Thanks Todd
I’m working with our Florida department that handles CCW licenses right now on a project. My guy there told me they processed about 3000 new applications a month pre Constitutional Carry, and are at a steady 700 now, not including renewals. I would have expected it to drop off a lot more than that. He expects that number to start climbing soon as new carriers realize the benefits of a license.
Yes I have a PA LTCF that is still valid until 8/27, good in 29 states. I was born and raised in Philly, and Philly had this thing about trying to make its own gun laws, which always got slapped down. I recently moved to Ohio and got my CHL fairly quickly which I believe is valid in 38 states. I know its permitless carry here but I prefer the permit.
Guys! Stop ooogling over that picture! If she had been holding some firearms it would have made more sense though!
What picture?
Yes TheKid,
“She has some Guns!” GIT SUM!
States like where I live in Wyoming no one truly knows how many people carry. No background checks for private sales of guns and Wyoming hasn’t required permits for a while now. I just got my CCW permit mainly because I might have to travel to Indiana next year
Constitutional carry can lead to nightmares. In most states where constitutional carry exists, the protections that come with a CCL are not there for a constitutional carrier. Read your state’s law on constitutional carry…Get a CCL even if your state has constitutional carry. Without that license, just driving by a school armed could land you in prison!
