AI says,
“ In the world of firearms, “unicorn gun” refers to a highly desirable and scarce gun, often due to its rarity, limited availability, or unique features. It’s a term used by gun enthusiasts to describe firearms that are difficult or impossible to obtain by standard means.”
If you’re in CA, NY and perhaps, CO, you’re familiar with the term “state compliant” which makes some models a kind of a unicorn but commonly available in free states.
Original M14, original high power, hell, ill even take a real MP5. Unfortunately the high power i might be able to afford. I can buy clones and they would work but i want the real thing…
Original high Power has to be my unicorn. Dont know why but something about it…
Over the year I’ve knocked off my Unicorns off my list and had a few just fall on my lap. I have several guns that are either one of a kind (full custom) or less than 1,000 made in the world which in my mind is the line for unicorns… more or less.
So, I’m not currently looking for anything… But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing in my future path. I’m just not actively looking.
That is a Mannlicher stocked double set trigger Steyr-Daimler-Puch (Steyr Mannlicher nowadays) Original Zephyr. Less than 3,000 made worldwide and the full stock and double set triggers are particularly rare variation. In typical Steyr fashion, the first three rounds I fired at 50 yards using run of the mill CCI Standard Velocity ammo went into ONE hole.
My buddy called me from Colorado as I was walking through some stores in New Orleans with the wife to tell me he had the gun in his hands and wanted to know if I wanted it. Wife heard him on the iPhone speaker, I looked at her, she smiled and nodded, and I gave him my credit card over the phone. I bought it sight unseen.
The one above it is a full custom 10/22 with a match barrel. 1,4 and 5 (top to bottom) are Mossbergs from the 50s-60s.
