I was pocket carrying a Ruger LC9s (7+1). It is a difficult pistol to shoot comfortably due to recoil. I went looking for a 9mm in the $500 price range that might be more comfortable to shoot and have equal to or better accuracy. I’m a RangeUSA member and as such I get free rentals. My criteria was pocket carry, more accurate, less recoil (aka easier and more fun to shoot), and higher capacity. About 18 months back, I tried 3 different pistols all of which were in the spot light at the time. They were the Springfield Hellcat, SIG P365, and S&W Equalizer. “For me”, I found the S&W Equalizer worked the best. In my hands it was more accurate than the other 2. I thought it was easier to shoot with less recoil than the other 2 and most certainly easier to shoot than the LC9s. The Equalizer comes with 10, 13, and 15 round mags. The Equalizer can be pocket carried with the 10 round mag. This is so because the height of the pistol is fairly short and allows easy access in a pocket. The biggest selling point was accuracy and the Equalizer was much better than the other 2 and better than my LC9s. When casually dressed with my shirt not tucked I carry using a Falco IWB holster. When my attire is more formal I pocket carry using a Sticky MD4. To make matters better, when I was going through this process RangeUSA had a special on the Equalizer for $459! Not only did it work for me but it was also somewhat of a bargain. I hope this helps.
Glock 19 + spare 15 rd. mag. It ALWAYS goes bang, simple to disassemble for cleaning, plus carries a good capacity. For those times I need a tighter dress shirt, Glock 43.
I keep wondering why Glock doesn’t offer a stock “stack and a half” offering for the 43x. It’s the primary reason Glock folks go to other firearms (like the G19) in my opinion. Lots of folks want an OEM 15rnd magazine in the 43x form factor.
All totaled, I’ve been carrying concealed since I turned 21 … 56+ years ago. My first EDC was a Charter Arms Undercover 5 shot revolver in .38 Special which I carried for over 20 years. My best buddy was our local Sheriff to whom I casually mentioned over a game of Cribbage one day that I was considering an upgrade (this was about the time the FBI had come in second in a Miami shootout with some bank robbers who had them out gunned). He suggested that I could buy through the Sheriff’s department and get a good price. SOLD!
The FBI’s switch ultimately to .40 S&W followed by our local PD and Sheriff’s dept. encouraged me to do the same, and I purchased a Smith & Wesson 411 in .40 S&W. The exposed hammer made it similar to a 1911 except the first round could be fired double action and, one Summer at our lake home, a single shot dispatching a porcupine that threatened pets of neighbors saw me holstering my weapon while cocked, only to discover the mistake soon after and make it safe.
I started looking at striker-fired pistols and settled on a full size Springfield Armory XD-M in .40 S&W, which I carried for 10 years. But the 5" barrel length made it “peek” below the edge of some jackets and other clothing I wore to conceal it carried on my hip. I still own this gun but chose another for EDC.
2+ years before the Sig Sauer P320 was adopted by our military as their M17 service weapon, I started carrying the P320C (the M18) with a 3.9" barrel, still in .40 S&W. I was initially concerned that I might be trading concealability for accuracy, but found that the shorter barrel and sight plane did NOT affect accuracy. In fact, I shoot the P320C BETTER than the full-size XD-M, and it doesn’t “peek” from under clothing. I’ve carried it ever since. Problem solved! I only recently put Hogue rubber slip-on grips on it so now I am practicing the new sight alignment!! Need the practice anyway!

This topic never gets old. Lots of interesting answers, as unique as we each are different. As far as firearm EDC, I never thought I’d end up collecting. When I first started out, I thought I’d have just the one. But now, I have a different one for depending on where I’m traveling to, which activity/occasion, the time of the season.
I think one of mine is better for me than my others, but for personal reasons, I’'m drawn to EDC my revolver: .38 Spcl, stainless, Kimber Kxs6, 6 round, internal hammer; I replaced the grip with walnut wood. I take that one when I go woodsy, such as camping, fishing, hunting. I think I like the fit, color and it just reminds me of the great outdoors.
Was the stock grip uncomfortable?
I am 62 years old working as a chef. Not one of those walk around and training other cooks to do their job. I am flipping and flopping, grilling, frying, baking, roasting, on my feet running around in the kitchen like a wizard, reading people’s minds, making magic potions, and loving every minute of it! The statement of what you carry every day is your everyday carry. When I go into the woods hiking and such, I have my .357 Magnum with underwood ammo. Mountain lions, bears, and sasquatch warrant such equipment. If I am on horse, I have my 30-30 lever action and my bowie knife.
Neat, I used to have a .357. Back then I also carried Underwood ammo, which I gave to a relative who has that caliber. They are works of art.

My every day carry is a Luger 9c for my every day carry. I bought it 9 years ago and have never had any trouble with it. I use 9MM hollow points for ammo. i also have a Luger 9 e and an Luger American and know I can depend on any of them to work right when I need them.
I carry a Ruger SR9c. In the once great state of illinoid, law-abiding citizens can only carry a magazine capacity up to 15 rounds, the thugs and bangers carry Glocks with the switch and 30 round magazines. An SR9c has a 17 round magazine which is outlawed in illinoid and a 10-round magazine. Honest citizens don’t stand a chance. My alternative is my Canik TP9 elite sc, it has a 15-round magazine. It won’t balance the odds, but at least it will give citizens a false sense of security. 
It’s not exactly true statement. It’s not about Glock switch and 30 rd magazine vs 15 rounder.
Once you are smart, trained and educated you are able to either avoid or win such confrontation.
I know we like to talk about 2A injustice, but instead of complaining (which changes nothing) we need to think how to become a better defender in our Community or State.
I’m also Illinoisan and because I cannot change my situation, I carry 15 rds, spare 15rd and train how to win every fight with tools I’m carring.
You both should be grateful, in Washington State the “standard” 10 round mags. I carry my compact .45 with my 7 rounds and two extra mags. You 15 round guys need to stop your whining!
Everyone complains about Colorado being bad! At least we have 15 round mags!!
We just have to adjust our defensive techniques to local Law… whenever this Law is good or bad …
I can’t use rifle… so I’m using handguns… Just different tactics to achieve the same results…
I agree that we have to learn to do what we can with what we are allowed/are willing to carry. But at the same time we have to be aware of the limitations of the gear we are carrying.
Sometimes we need both the proper training and the right tool to get the job done. Even a master mechanic isn’t going to be able to fix most car problems if the only tool they have available is a screwdriver. Fortunately for mechanics they are not subjected to ignorant laws that limit them to only certain tools, of certain lengths, with certain limited capacities.
